Since we have Oct planned, now we need to pick the "resort" looking for opinions for a family of 3-Myself, DH, 10yr old DS - We love the Grand Californian in LA, but I'm not sure if the WL is the best choice for us?

We've stayed at - POR-3x's, and Coronado for 1 night before our cruise and 2 nights at AKL after (I loved it, my husband "liked it" but didn't really care for the rooms "too dark" and would rather not go back) - OK so...it's been a few yrs...and we are looking for a substitute to POR great theme. We love to walk the grounds of the resort in the evening and usually go to the food court for a "treat" at the bakery before a slow walk back to the room. (Our favorite end of evening ritual) - anyway want to recapture the magic I remeber, but don't think we can afford a "deluxe" I know WL is a deluxe, but not as expensive as the othersl But I'm not sure we would really "love it?" - never stayed at Caribbean Beach - to be honest heard so many negs about it in the past, we just always stayed at Dixie (oops I mean POR) - so looking for opinions on the following choices - unless even greater discounts come out beyond Magical Fairy Tale and we can actually consider "other deluxes"

* My DH must have a gym - works out every day! would use BWI gym when we stayed at POR. Really want a nice room with a fun theme....must be clean! *must admit on our last stay at POR it was looking shabby and the shower was moldy and gross...

Here's my thoughts:

WL - Love the theme, but is there a gym? Is it really worth the extra money? Plus our fav park is MGM then world showcase/Epcot, - soooo.... would this work? Don't want super long bus wait/rides

Coronado - mod price & gym are a plus - the theme is really nice (at night especially), but we live in California! - so SW theme isn't really "special to us" - but we did like the food court and the margarita's

Caribbean Beach - honestly only because its a mod avail...not sure we would really enjoy? How are the rooms and sit down rest.? Am I not giving this resort proper consideration?

I haven't read through the POR/POFQ info - is French Qtr a possibility during Oct? will they have some of the refurb finished? Just wondering.

What should we do????

Thanks for thoughts!

Loved CSR - clean room - good room service - good pool & quiet pool - gym - pretty at night around the lake -good food court - great bus service - great price if you can get a discount.

CBR - don't know - never stayed there and never wanted to.

WL - stayed there 3 times and did not like waiting for the boat with all the throngs of people (especially since they built the villas) - food court was OK but small - rooms kinda dark but well kept - Lets just say I decided not to go back. It is a beautiful place to visit though. Bus service not that swift either - it seems that they add on a lot of stops.

We just got back from WL (DH, DD 3 1/2 and myself) and would stay there again in a heartbeat. There is a gym (I used it 3 times - $25 for length of stay pass). We also upgraded to conceirge for $45 per night. This was a real bargain considering the extent we used it. We didn't have any problems waiting the a boat. There are 2 launches from WL - one to MK and the other to the Contemporary. We'd just get the 1st one that came. We opted to take a launch to the monorail when going to Epcot rather than a bus. It was a lot more fun. Also, it was really easy to get to the monorail resorts from WL - which we did in search of pressed penny machines. Our room was very clean and we got towel animals every day and lots of chocolate mints. You won't regret the WL.
