OK - BCV Discussions....lots of negatives how about positives?

At the BCV, I've been in a 1-bedroom and 4 different studios. I'll just give you some positives. :)

The grounds, exterior and interior of the buildings are gorgeous. The rooms are beautiful. The location is great, being so close to Epcot.

I'll skip the negatives. :(

I haven't noticed any difference size wise between the three newer resorts. BCV is number 2 on my all time favorite list at the moment. Of course I haven't been to HHI or VB yet.

We originally bought at BWV and did an add-on at BCV. We stayed there April 6 for the first time and had a 2 BR. We loved it. Had absolutely no problems with water temp, water pressure or T-stat. We did think the living area and kitchen were a little cramped (we had 7 people) but it didn't really bother us. The bedrooms seemed spacious. Only thing I didn't like about the bathroom in the master BR was all the doors. I LOVE the location. Epcot is our favorite park and the walk is so short. Even if we were in a different park during the day we always walked over there at night.

Richyams,
When we stayed in a dedicated 2 BR at OKW we thought it was awesome. Could not believe how huge it was. BUT we did not care for the lockouts there. We had the noisest studio. OKW and VB were the only DVC resorts that the lockouts bothered us. It wasn't our neighbors being noisy either. It was as if there was absolutely no insulation around the door between the units.

We own OKW and BWV, where we have stayed on many occasions, but have also stayed at BCV on two occasions. We love BCV and think it is the best of all DVC resorts. There really isn't anything that we don't like about BCV.

OK, here is a quick list off the top of my head...

Awesome pool
Great decor (we prefer it over BWV)
Common areas are very nice and have never been crowded
Best pool of any Disney hotel
Proximity to Epcot
My co-favorite hotel at Christmas (really close race with GF) - decorations, story teller, etc
Did I mention the pool?:)

For us resort choice comes down to time of year and what kind of mood we're in when we book a vacation. When we go to WDW, we're hardly ever in the room - we're in the parks, at the pool, eating out. We don't drive 600 miles to sit around a room, so a studio does it for us just about every time. If we had more points, we would make it a 1 BR.

That said, ambience DOES matter to us. The rustic surroundings just make VWL the only choice at Christmastime - FOR US. We like BWV or BCV for the summer. They just feel more "summery." While OKW is well-manicured, and I like the golf course views, it just feels like an apartment complex to us. It's just not much of an escape - FOR US. When go to VWL, BWV, or BCV we feel like we've actually been to a resort.

As for BCV specifically, we stayed there once, and we never noticed the water problems, or the A/C problems. Nor were the long hallways a bother. Just try walking from VWL to Roaring Forks for a drink sometime - talk about a patience tester. And what's all this about the proximity of self-park. Gimme a valet any time! The valet service at BCV is very prompt, and it always makes me feel like a big shot (which I am not!) to use it. To me, the most relaxing words I can hear at WDW, aside from "Welcome Home!" are "Can I get your car, sir?" I'm on vacation; of course you can get my car! And while your at it you can wash and wax it and shine my golf clubs. But I digress.

SAB is a blast. Everyone should go at least once. Beaches 'n' Cream makes one of the best burgers on the planet. Add a Frozen Sunshine ( I have the recipe - so now now we have a little of the magic at home) and you've got artery-clogging heaven. BCV is also just a water taxi away from the Boardwalk if you like being there. The place is beautiful - landscaping there is as a good as it gets! The rooms are well-decorated and there's plenty of light - could be important if you've survived a long, gray, icy winter.

Yes, the sofa bed takes up alot of room, but what do I care - I'M SLEEPING! Sure the bathroom doesn't have alot of room to put out make-up, or hair junk, or shaving sfuff, but WHAT THE H*** ARE YOU DOING SHAVING - YOU'RE ON VACATION!!!! Laundry? See the previous comment. The kitchens are small, but they're not exactly equipped to make a really great meal anyway. Try chopping carrots with a plastic knife. Besides as much as I like to cook (I really do) I'M ON VACATION!!!! I want it brought to me hot, fresh and without delay. Then I want the table cleared for me.

It's a long rant I know, but it all has a point. IT'S MY VACATION, AND I WANT WHAT I WANT - AND SO DO YOU! So figure out what you want and then try them all. Try out different sized rooms, try out different restaurants - whatever. That's the beauty of DVC, you can have lots of different experiences, and you've got 40 years to do it. "Can I get your wheelchair, sir?" Damn right you can, and don't forget to strap on my oxygen tank - I'M cough, wheeze ON VACATION!!!!

We've tried 'em all, and we can't wait to try Saratoga Springs (are we calling that SS yet?). Just don't get too uptight about the right this or the right that. You'll find out what you like best over the next 40 years. So relax - YOU'RE ON VACATION!!!

Dateline Walt Disney World, Jan 30th 2042 - the last night of the DVC is at hand - many of us are gathered here today to say:

The rooms are so small that you have no chance of losing your kids, I could pretty much post the list of BWV highlights.

Love it Rich....I was wondering when you were going to come up with a new BCV promotional snippet

Richyams leading the pack:

Give me a O
"O"
Give me a K

Just wanted to get on the list of those who love BCV. I really love the hotel type resorts as opposed to the condo feel. I like room service and I like inside hallways. I love the decor and atmosphere at BCV. The beach is also a big plus to me. I love going there in the early morning or late in the evening and walking along the beach or sitting on the beach chairs or bench swings and looking out at the lights of the boardwalk. And then there is the obvious walk to Epcot and MGM. I love walking back from Illuminations still listening to the music all the way to my room just thinking about everyone else that is still waiting for their bus to get there. I really don't think there are any negatives.

The rat's maze of hallways is very good for teaching children spatial orientation skills, puzzles and problem solving skills.

Who said going to WDW wasn't educational?

Even though I don't agree with everything you say, your humor absolutely kills me!

There definitely is a maze of hallways!

You can learn your conic sections too: the ellipse out back, the hyperbole about the A/C and showers, and the parable about people who live in glass houses (that means you, Rich! ;) ).

Yesterday was the 7-month window for our stay, so I asked at home, just as a matter of principle, if anyone wanted to change from BCV to another DVC resort. No takers, even though we did tour an OKW 2BR last year. Maybe someday, but we're still too much in love with BCV.

Rich, you just made my day - I was on the phone with WDW changing some PS to reflect on us staying at OKW for 3 nights (yes I am trying it out) when I saw your post - I had to put the CM on hold!!!

Loving these boards....

Thanks, Terrys, leaving tomorrow for BCV, was having second thoughts until I read your post! Our home is VWL, just wanted to see something different! still think we'll miss our "home"....

I really can't think of any negatives to the BCVillas only differences. To some, not mentioning any names :), differences are negatives when comparing DVC resorts.

Positives: Location, Location, Location.
Best pool at Disney, wonderful views of the Boardwalk, several really good restaurants within walking distance (not driving distance), wonderful shopping within walking distance, the staff which has always been good to us. Beautiful decor.

Yes the units are smaller than OKW to me that is not necessarily a negative. As to the maze of hallways I am sure if you sent a child from the furthest reaches of BCVillas he/she would have an easier time of finding the lobby than if you sent the same child on foot from the South Pointe Area to the Front Desk of OKW.

All the resorts have their positives. The biggest positive for OKW is definitely space but as with any resort it does have it's negatives to some.

As I stated not everyone's negatives are the same.

You are very right.

Many people enjoy being able to sit on the living room couch and get a beer from the fridge without having to stand up.

As my husband would say: "And that's a bad thing, how?" Saves me the trouble of getting it for him!!!
