If I am not mistaken this song was from a Christmas movie. The Christmas Shoes. The mother was a dancer. That is why he gets shoes. Red ones I think.

No, the movie came after the song, and was based on the song. They may have made the mom a dancer in the movie, but there is no contextual basis for the song-mom being a dancer.

There is a movie called "The Red Shoes" which is about ballerinas - I think the two movies are getting mixed up here.

OKAY NEWS FLASH....driving to the Mall this morning I finally heard on the radio...CHRISTMAS SHOES...I will tell you the disc jockey said "next up a new song"...and then played this...is it new...

Very very sad and then the children's choir chimes in....

Also, I thought the little boy wanted his mom's feet warm (that was MY thought) but I guess instead she was formally a dancer and now close to death?

This afternoon I was out shopping with my daughters. DD18 was driving her car, and I was in the back seat (having bought and hidden some gifts for her there earlier in the day.) She and DD12 got out of the car to go in a store to get me a gift, so I was in the back seat, alone, with the radio on, when...


IT CAME ON THE RADIO. And I was trapped, because DD18's back doors lock from the inside. So I had to call DD18 on her cellphone, and tell her to send her sister out to rescue me, which she did, but they purposely came out VERY SLOWLY so I was forced to listen to most of it. They were laughing in an evil way, too.

I hate that song. The only word for it is cloying.
