Our DS1 has a 35 minute layover and need to get from the International terminal to terminal 1 (Ted flight so all the way to the far end).

Do you think it would be faster for him to take the light rail or for me to pick him up and drive him around? He'll have only carryon but I know it will be tight!

I tried looking on an O'Hare map but the print is ridiculously small. He thinks that the rail goes to terminal 1 after International but can't remember for sure.

On the other hand, driving from the International terminal isn't quite as straight forward as the other terminals either as I recall. Do you have to go out on Bessie Coleman?

Thanks for any help.

How did he wind up with a 35-minute connection? Unless the arriving flight is seriously early or the Ted flight departure is seriously delayed, I don't see how it's possible.

He'll need to exit from the aircraft, get out of the International Terminal, travel to Terminal 1, go through the security, and get to his Ted gate. Keep in mind that flights begin boarding 30 minutes before departure, and aircraft doors are often secured 10 minutes before departure.

I hope he's not also planning to go through US Customs and Immigration during those 35 minutes!

In answer to your question, I think the Airport Transit System is the best way to get from the International Termonal to Terminal 1. The trains run every 7 minutes or so. The ATS train will make intermediate stops at Terminal 3 and Terminal 2. Yes, he might be able to save a couple of minutes if you drive him; but you might also get stuck in internal airport traffic.

Thanks on the info on the trams. Sending you a PM.
