My nieces are 3 and 6, which would they enjoy more?

The food is beyond awful at the BBQ...Hamburgers in a steam tray made with sub-par meat are not appetizing.

The show is rather lame too..not a lot of performance just country music to dance to.

Ohana would be a much better choice, but I would reccomend Hoop Dee Doo over all of them. The show and the food are entertaining for all ages. You cannot go wrong here....

Well when My kids were 6 and 3 they loved Mickey's backyard BBQ. They food was okay - typical barbecue food - salads, hotdogs, hamburgers, ribs and chicken. All you can eat, beer and wine included - gratuity included too.

But my kids love dancing with the characters and always have a great time there. We have been 4 times now and DS wants to go back on our next trip.

We did the BBQ last year - my kids enjoyed it, are happy they did it, but don't want to do it again. The food was AWFUL - truly truly bad. The highlight was the all-you-care-to-eat mickey head ice creams :cool1:

Hoop Dee Doo - two years ago. Kids loved it, would do it again, food was decent - only drawback is you're sitting the entire time. (The getting up and moving around was the only other plus to the BBQ).

O'Hana - just a regular character meal, but the food is the best of the three options, IMO.

My DDs were 6 and 3 when we did Mickey's BBQ last summer. They loved it! There was a lot of dancing and they got to dance WITH all the characters. My DD6 got to lead the locomotion around the room with Minnie. I agree that the food is nothing to write home about, but we do the character meals for the interactions and this one was outstanding! Besides, unlimited Mickey Bars is almost worth the price of admission alone. They also had beer and wine available if that floats you boat (no extra charge).

I'm agreed on Hoop Dee Doo over all of them! If I had to choose between the two you mentioned, I'd do 'Ohana for breakfast with the characters.

Though unlimited mickey bars is hard to argue with...

Mickey's BBQ was the worst dining experience we have ever had at Disney. Food was awful, small kids get trampled, and it is very expensive. On the other hand, we have never had anything but an excellent experience at Ohana, and we have been a half a dozen times.

If your kids want to dance with the characters, on extra magic hours night at Hollywood Studios they hold a character dance party where Disney Junior Live is. It is no additional cost, and not many people know about it, so there are hardly any people there. My daughter has danced hand in hand with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Handy Manny, and the Little Einsteins there, and it is a much better atmosphere than the BBQ.

We all loved Ohana-

Food was good, some items are great others are ok- nothing is bad.

Kids are entertained and you get a chance to eat.

The BBQ is outside- so that does not appeal to me- If I am paying $200 for a meal I want to be in ac and bug free :thumbsup2

Just a personal opinion. HDDR was really good- we like the food better at Ohana but everything was good and plentiful.
