I have always wanted to try Ohana but the with the new menu change I'm not so sure. I read a resent review that was not very good. Has anyone gone here to eat with the new menu? What do you think?

And loved it, we did miss a couple of the old things but we'll go back again in a heart beat.
Also we were told by the Chef that they can make some of the old items for you by request it you want.

The New dessert is AWESOME

We ate there a week ago with the new changes implemented already. I did miss the green beans and the rice; however, I was pleasantly surprised with the potatoes-they were very good, but very heavy, so I didn't each much. I enjoyed the crispy wonton chips also. The bread pudding dessert was awesome-I really enjoyed it and almost forgot about the pineapple/caramel! The one thing I really missed was the lazy susan in the middle of the table-it was so cumbersome to reach around the table and our table was just cluttered with dishes-it was so awkward.

Our waiter was very friendly (Roy) and he said there's a lot of people who don't like the changes and have been vocal, but some do like the changes. We ate there on Weds. night (9/21) and only 60% of the restaurant was full at a 7 pm seating. I have never seen 'Ohana so empty in the last 3 years that we've visited!

We'll still visit there every time we come though, so the changes didn't turn us away.

We also ate there last week and we loved it!!!! We had never eaten there before, but this menu was soooo good that I can't believe there was ever anything better. The shrimp was fantastic and the wontons were to die for. DH and I both LOOOOOOOVED the new scalloped potatoes. The cheese was so creamy and the onion in it gave just the right flavor. as for the dessert, neither DH and I are bread pudding fans, but this was awesome. The caramel/banana sauce was delicious.

Needless to say, DH and I were almost sick when we left b/c we had eaten so much!

We even got a window seat and watched Wishes!

BTW-
horner5: Roy was our waiter too! We got a kick out of calling him Cousin Roy.

I'm looking forward to our dinner there on October 2. The new menu looks good, and I hope they have a few shrimp wontons left over by the time we get there!! :Pinkbounc

What I don't understand is why they don't peel the shrimp before putting it in that sticky sauce. Isn't it pretty messy to peel?? :confused3

I am so glad to hear that most of the people who have actually gone to 'Ohana, after the change, like it so much.

We have an ADR for Christmas eve :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Add our family to this list! We ate there two weeks ago and I was really really nervous about the menu changes. We had eaten here a few times before and had always loved Ohana. Now with the new menu, we were apprehensive and almost cancelled our ressie! I am SO GLAD we didn't!! The new menu is AWESOME!! The only thing I missed was the bread. :( I don't even like bread pudding, but I LOVED this one!! :)

We ate at 'Ohana last week. The shrimp was fantastic, I could have eaten just that. Yes, it was a bit messy to peel, but well worth the effort. The potatoes were great, the vegetables only so-so. The peanut sauce with the wontons was great. The bread pudding has pineapple in it, which practically nobody in our party likes so that was a bust. I managed to choke down a few bites and it really would have been quite tasty without the pineapple (bananas foster sauce was yummy). But really, we were all too stuffed for the dessert anyway so it wasn't a big deal.

I just wanted to agree that the potatoes we awesome! This was our first time at O'hana, but it was another great Disney meal. I wasn't too hot on the apps and the dippings sauces. There was so much food that you could not like one thing and still be overly full at the end of the meal. As far as the meats, I was surprised that DH and I both preferred the pork. I am usually a chicken gal, and DH is usually a steak guy.

Also, we got to see the hula hoop contest and the coconut races. The kids were all very cute. :)

Add me to the list who loved it.. I had never tried the old menu and was freaking out after reading these boards but it was GREAT... on of the best meals of our trip.. go and ENJOY!!!!!

Our family celebrated my daughters birthday at Ohana's. The rest of the family had never eaten here but I had. We all really enjoyed the food. My son who loves to eat said he had plenty of food and it was delicious.

We all enjoyed all the foods and got seconds on several of them. I like the potatoes better than the rice. The new shrimp is messy but the hot towels they give you to clean up are a nice touch.

They also brought out a cupcake and sang happy birthday to her. We will be going back again.

We were also there last week and very happy with the new menu. Although we loved the green beans, the mixed veggies were very good. There was a ton of shrimp in the bowl and the potatoes were really quite good.

I thought the dessert was excellent - but I love bread pudding. DH doesn't like it much and he really enjoyed it as well. We didn't have any pineapple in ours...???

The sauces were new. The peanut was the same, but there was a chimichurri and another that tasted like olive oil/tomato based. As usualy there was way too much to eat. The sausage was okay...but we prefer the steak to anything. DS actually ate quite a bit of steak himself.

We were there on our son's 4th birthday and also got the cupcake and happy birthday in Hawaiian. Great experience!

Deciding on restaurant choices. We do have the Dining Plan added. Is Ohana's really a good choice. Please explain the "Fun" I hear about there. Do they do a show or something?? I would want to do Dinner there most likely. Is Dinner any different then the Character Meals I see they offer there. Please give me any feedback that would give me more info on the restaurant. There is a group of 10 of us, 6 adults and 4 kids. Is it okay for us ???? And any specific area we would want to request to sit ??
Thanks for any replies !! :dog: :dog2: :wave2:
