I have to find an additional restaurant on DDP to go to since we've added another night. It's down between San Angel Inn (which we've been to before), Kona's and Ohana's. I would like a little fun and entertainment mixed with my meal. You can get a decent meal most anywhere, right?! We have two DD, 16 and 12 who may want to join in with the hula hoops and coconut races at Ohana's. Would they not be able to do this at their age?? What other entertainment is there at that restaurant? If I go at 5:00 when they open, is that too early for the fun??

They have hula hoops, hula lessons, dance lessons, conga line, and coconut races. It is alot of fun! My sisters, 14 and 8, enjoyed it and even parents were up there joining in on the fun. The coconut race is geared more towards younger kids, though. Although my 14 yr old sister did participate. They make it more challenging for the older kids so as to keep it fair. Everything else can be enjoyed by everyone.

We went in July and not one thing was done while we were there. We were at dinner for about 90 minutes and not a single entertaining thing took place. The food was great and our waiters were great.. but no hula hoops no coconut races- no hula dancing nothing. That was the one big disappointment for me- thankfully I had not told my children about it. We ate at Kona twice this trip so that tells you what I think of Kona's!

I hope they still do the entertainment as my kids are looking forward to it. When we were they are few years ago they only did the coconut race and the hula hoops. It would be nice if they did the hula lessons this time. My daughter and niece are 9 and 12 and would enjoy that a lot more than a coconut race. The boys are younger and will still get a kick out of that.

We ate there on July 15, and my DD got to march around, do the limbo, race coconuts, but she missed the hula lesson because she was in the bathroom :guilty:

My boys thought they were too old to do that stuff, so they didn't.

Most of the kids participating when we were there were between 3 and about 7 or 8 although there were a couple of older boys (maybe 8 or 10 years old) who were VERY pushy and rude, grabbing things. I think the activities are really geared to the younger set, and if there are older kids there, I would hope they'd be better behaved than the boys who were literally pushing the 3 and 4 year olds out of the way in the race to get broomsticks and coconuts.

I couldn't agree with you more about some of the kids being too pushy. I hate it when they are allowed to get away with that. The boys will be 5 and 7 so they will be amused by just about anything, but I am really hoping for a conga line or hula lesson for the girls. That sounds like something geared toward kids that still want to have fun but are a little too old for coconut races.

I also wonder if 5:00 is too early for the fun to begin. I wouldn't want to stay for more than an hour if possible.

We were there about 6 p.m. last December and they just had the coconut races while we were there (for about an hour and a half) with just a few little kids doing the races. The other few times we've been there I've seen the hula hoops and the cocomut races. Other than that the Hawaiian lady sang songs over the microphone and a few little girls got in front of her and started dancing and she started showing them hula dancing moves. One thing I love about 'Ohanas is even though they do the entertainment it isn't very loud and obnoxious. It still keeps the mood of the restaurant.

We ate there last Sept and never saw any of the activities. This was a week after the menu change (sometime between Sept 17th-24th). There was a ukelele player who walked around to the different tables and played though. He even sang a special song for my son and D-I-L's anniversary at our table. Very sweet! We enjoyed it, but was a little disappointed that there were no activities that night. Maybe the hula lady was sick?

We usually get there around 5:00 and have always been able to take part in the games. We (as adults) have taken part in the games as well but we make sure the kids all get a chance first. So there is really no age limit since everyone is a kid at Disney.
