I am here from the wedding board with a couple of questions.

How much is the Ohana breakfast, I have found a couple of prices. One said 20.00/adult and another said 24.99/adult. Is their the coconut races etc during breakfast or is that just dinner.

What is the best way to get from the S/D to the Poly? Is there an easy way or would we have to go to a park first?

THANKS!

To get from S/D to Poly you'd have to go to a park first. We took the bus to MK from POR, and then took the monorail to Poly. Since you're close to DHS, you could walk or boat to DHS then take the bus to Poly. Or if you have park hoppers, you could cut through Epcot and take the monorail to TTC, and then walk to Poly.

I believe we paid around $24.99 for it, I don't recall exactly because we were on the dining plan. I remember joking that we would have died if we had paid $50 cash for bacon and eggs. If you aren't set on Ohana, I would consider doing a breakfast buffet for more options. Ohana is just a skillet with bacon, eggs, sausage, potatoes and waffles so you are truly paying for the characters here.

We did not see any coconut races, but the kids did do a little parade around the restaurant with Stitch leading the way.

No coconut races during breakfast but they have characters. I think there may be some sort of dance or parade with the characters (for the kids).

I assume you mean via Disney transportation. I don't know about what happens with the Swan/Dolphin if you have a very early reservation but Disney does run early buses for character meals before park opening, maybe they have one that goes there. Someone who actually does early stuff might have this information.

If the regular park hours are in effect, then yes, you will have to go to a park first. It's suggested to go to MK by bus and switch to the monorail or boat, OR take the boat from Swan/Dolphin to DHS and take the bus from there to the Polynesian.

I found it easier to go to DHS by boat to access another resort from the Beach Club, based solely on trying it by bus and it just happened that the bus was delayed based on the amount of time it took to load and tie down scooters on the bus. On the boat, the scooters just roll aboard. That is a possibility anytime you take a WDW bus though.

The absolute best way to get there is by car or taxi.

Prices are always changing so I can't help you with that. It's been a while since I have been to breakfast at 'Ohana and I didn't really care for it (I really don't like Stitch).

The easiest way from the S/D to the Poly, using Disney transportation, is to take a bus to MK and then the monorail to the Poly. You could also take the boat or walk over to DHS and then take a bus to the Poly, but that will usually take longer. However, if you want to skip over the Disney transportation you could take a cab from S/D to Poly. Figure the cost to be around $20 for the cab ride.

The reason I was considering Ohana was for after our wedding ceremony as our "reception". I thought it would be nice experience for everyone to have all the characters there and it was a good price that fit in my budget, and then I could wear my dress, since it is not in a park. Any other suggestions for character breakfast around the 25 dollar price range and not in a park? :worship:

We are getting married at the S/D that is why we would need to know the best way to get there from there. Maybe I would have to consider chartering transportation there.

I don't know if you'd want to deal with Disney transportation while wearing a wedding dress. If you're looking to save on transportation, Cape May would be the closest to the Swan/Dolphin that has characters at breakfast. The Garden Grove at the Swan only has characters at breakfast on weekends.

I agree Cape May is the better of the two. My DH and I were married in Disney three years ago and we did Cape May breakfast as our rehearsal breakfast. The buffet is so much better then 'Ohana breakfast and there are characters - Minnie, Donald and Goofy at the time.

I would definately do Disney transportation with my dress on. I wanted to ride the monorail in my dress but just ran out of time. Not sure how many people you have but you can also take a taxi. Not much of an expense and probably alot faster.

Actually, I just reread your post. If you are at the S/D you can walk to Cape May. This would also make for some great photos.

Do you remember how long the trip took from POR to Poly taking bus & monorail?

I would also agree that Cape May over at the Beach club would be so convenient from the Swan. It is served buffet style and the characters are in beach attire. I didn't know if you were specifically wanting Mickey. O'hanas has Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch. Cape May has Minnie, Goofy, and Donald. Both are really good for breakfast but my vote would be Cape May due to logistics.

At Ohana we had Mickey, Minnie, Lilo & Stitch. No Pluto as PP mentioned. If you want family to have the experience of the characters, this might not be the greatest option since Lilo & Stitch aren't as familiar. If I brought my parents there, they would have no idea who Lilo & Stitch are. I don't know the cost of Chef Mickey's but they have the 5 most recognizable characters and getting to the Contemporary would be the same as getting to Poly. Can't speak on Cape May, never been there.

Do you remember how long the trip took from POR to Poly taking bus & monorail?

About 20 mins, not including the wait at POR for the MK bus (maybe 10 min wait for the bus). The bus ride to MK only took 10 mins, and then we walked straight to the monorail platform and there happened to be one there so we walked right on. Monorail ride only took another 10 mins, if that. When we left Poly, the monorail was there so we were able to walk right on again. Our time coincided with MK opening, so I think the monorails were running frequently. It worked out well and was easy, would do it again.

Last week Pluto Mickey Lilo and Stitch were there. No Minnie for our breakfast.

This trip the character interaction was horrible at almost every meal. It was rush rush rush. They barely stopped long enough for pics. Much less autographs. To get both we had to wait for them to come around again. Unlike in the past it was not busy either. Also my one year old was mostly passed by so we had to ask for photos with her.

Lilo at ohana was the worst. She walked right by and didn't even give us the chance to ask for pics. We had to ask our waitress to send her back over.

Overall I have to say this trip we were rushed more than any other trip. So much so that next time we will be sticking with QS. Also the food was not as good either.

They really need to go back to school and learn how to cook eggs so they are not runny as well. Every meal where eggs were served they were runny.

Hmm i wonder if the characters are different on different days or if Minnie was a replacement for us? Our ADR was on October 1st which was a Saturday at 9:45.

We don't spend a lot of time with the characters anyway but found Lilo to be the friendliest - we just took a photo with her and then she pointed to my BF's tattoos and gave thumbs up and clapped, it was cute. I guess it just depends who the CM in costume is that day :confused3

If you are considering Cape May Cafe, you may want to also look at the Captain's Grille at Disney's Yacht Club. We think their breakfast buffet is much nicer than Cape May. It has a really nice variety and the food is wonderful. (The menu on AllEars doesn't really doesn't do this buffet justice. It really is a large selection of food.) You can also order off the menu for those in your party who aren't into buffets.

One main difference is that there are no characters at the Captain's Grille. The other main difference is the price. $28.75 for Cape May, $15.99 for Captain's Grille.
