Ohana or Luau?

Can't decide if the Luau is worth 2 TS. And it seems like the food at Ohana's is about the same. Would it be just as good and fun there for only 1 TS? We've got a bunch of adults and a 1 year old.

TIA!

We went to the Luau YEARS AGO (as in over a decade ago) and loved it, which is why we want to go back, but I'm sure things have changed.

I'm going to be no real help at all as I don't like either of them. The Luau was long and boring with bland food. The dessert was actually disgusting. Everything at 'Ohana was sweet (I HATE when savory things are sweetened!) and the meats were dry and tough. I, personally, wouldn't go to either of them again but if you really want to I would suggest 'Ohana as the Luau is just a waste of 2TS credits, IMO.

I'm with the pp . I don't like either. If you want to stay in the Poly then I go to Kona Cafe :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I agree with the previous 2 posters. We went to the Luau a couple years ago and it was not what I expected for 2 TS credits. I would rather do Ohana's for 1 TS credit. Good luck in your decision making.

Another vote for Ohana here. It's a must-do for us now.

The luau is nice to see once, but the food isn't that great and the show is REALLY cheesy (except for the fire guy, who you can see for free every day at the Torch lighting ceremony).

We enjoyed the Luau for the experience of it. But, probably would not go again. We do go to Ohana's every trip, it is actually my husbands favorite restaurant at WDW.

We prefer 'Ohana over the Luau, and it's only 1 credit. The food is much better and a much bigger variety, as well. You can catch the torch-lighting ceremony for free (Tuesday-Saturday nights at 6PM), and that is the best of the luau. Enjoy 'Ohana!

For entertainment go with Ohana, for food try Kona. Honestly, with a 1 year old, I'd just go to Kona. When they're older, you'll be compelled to do the character thing, for now you can actually go where the food is great!

I don't know if it would change too much over the years. I'm sure it has changed some, but it is still based on Island traditions.

Went last month, and found it a little better than expected. It worked out well in our schedule, so we weren't really giving up anything else to do the Luau.

There have been other recent threads where the food was found to be "better than expected" (as did we). We weren't on the dining plan, however, so we didn't have to think about "is this twice the value of that". I would guess that the actual cost is slightly less via the dining plan (so in that sense it could be considered a good use of dining credits).

Thanks. Where is the torch lighting?

We might still do the luau. I wonder if it was really much different back in the day. Like I said it was a LONG time ago. Or maybe it's the same now and we would still enjoy it. Still deciding. Thanks for the input.
