How far from MK to Ohana would it be ok to leave and return to Mk after dinner? Or should we just stay at Mk ?? Thanks

It's a hard choice. We like both. Liberty Tree is a character dinner (and a good one). 'Ohana is not, but it is still a ton of fun, plus we love the food there. If you forced me to choose one, I would pick 'Ohana, but that's just my personal preference.

As for getting there from the Magic Kingdom-- it's pretty easy-- just take the resort monorailfrom the MK to the Polynesian. Doesn't take too long-- usually about 10 minutes or so each way. We've done this a few times on our MK nights.

Oh. I see. You meant Liberty Tree Tavern. I was thinking you meant that little counter service place in USA at EPCOT. I was going to say no contest.

Either one of your choices would be fine. Do you want characters? Have you been to Disney before? Will you go again? That might factor in how much time you want to devote to traveling to a restaurant.

Sorry about that I meant the one im MK. We are also doing chef mickey and story book princess lunch so I was thinking it might be too many character dinners I was also thinking of changing chef mickey from dinner to breakfast. what do you think. again anyone know how far from Ohana to Mk?? Thanks for all the help

Definitely change Chef Mickey's to breakfast. Ohana is not far at all from MK. 10 minutes or less on the monorail. :)

LTT all the way.

- Ohana only has the character breakfast, and then non-character buffets for later meals. LTT offers character dinners and late lunches.

- I just prefer the food at LTT.

- You don't have to leave MK to go to LTT. I've stayed at the Poly twice. It takes MUCH longer than 10 minutes to get there via the monorail. Consider the walking time to get out of the park and then back in after dinner. Also keep in mind that the monorail has to stop at the TTC before it goes to the Poly. Sometimes these stops alone can take 10 minutes. Frankly, the boats are often faster than the monorail these days. After dinner, you'd have to stop at both GF and CR before making it back to MK. If time isn't an issue, then this won't be a problem. But if time is an issue, I'd stick with staying inside MK and eating at LTT.

- I personally prefer full sit-down meals to buffets. For what Ohana charges, I really don't feel like getting up and fighting other guests in the buffet lines to get my food. Buffets are fine; I just don't feel it's right to charge what sit-down restaurants charge for it, when I'm the one having to get all my food. LTT is a traditional sit-down meal. You pay them and then sit down and let them bring you food.

Ohana is NOT a buffet. It never has been to my knowledge. Ohana is a sit down family style meal. All your food is brought to you and placed in the center of your table and you help yourself. It is all you can eat. No lines to fight.

We've never been to LTT. If time is an issue with you then I would stay in the MK and eat here. The menu looks good, but the food is so similar to stuff we eat all the time that it doesn't appeal to me. Ohana is different. I love the meat kabobs and the scalloped potatoes...they melt in your mouth..and the bread pudding with the bananas foster sauce is my favorite dessert at WDW. I personally don't think its much of a hassle to get to Ohana from MK. Just walk to the resort only monorail and get off at the Poly....after eating jump back on the monorail and hop off at the MK. No, it isn't 10 minutes, but it certainly doesn't take THAT much time to get there. We were just there in Feb and took the monorail from MK to the GF for a Park Fare breakfast. It took almost no time to get there. Again, its all up to you, but if i were MADE to choose, Ohana it would be.

ETA: LTT and Ohana are BOTH family style meals. The food at each of these restaurants is served exactly the same way.

We LOVE Ohana! The food was great, the ambience even better. Ask to sit near a window, if possible. (It was NOT a buffet, it was family style. The server will bring you LOTS of food!)

We stayed at the Poly and had no trouble using the monorail. I bet the Tikiman site could give you exact times regarding the monorail.

Also, the Poly is such a relaxing resort. After a day in the MK, you may welcome a break from the MK. We all love the monorail, and if you're lucky, you may be able to ride in the front with the "pilot" on the way to Ohanas or back to the MK. You can always return to the MK, or better yet, watch Wishes from the Poly's beach. They pipe in the music and it is lovely!

I would say Ohana's all the way!! The food and the service are both great. We have only been to LTT once and were not very impressed.

I have to add here, after thinking about both places....the atmosphere at Ohana is amazing. I have doubts I could say that for LTT....esp relative to Ohana. We had a table by the window and were able to see the castle changing colors while we ate. Plain and simple, it just has more ambience...and the ride on the monorail is a simple one.

Isn't there a boat that goes directly from The Poly to the MK?? Or is that boat only for guests staying at the poly? If you could take the direct boat from MK to PolY that would just take a few minutes.

This would depend - How many in your party and what ages? If there are small children, packing them up to leave the park (return the stroller) and then return to MK after dinner may be a hassle.

If you are going when the MK closes at 5 or 6, then it would be easy to head over, have a nice dinner and then grab a cab back to y our hotel.

Both restaurants are good, just depends on what you want. LTT is a very good family style meal with characters. Love it!

O'hana's is (what we call) carnivore night. Meat, lots of meat. The guys always love this part. As much as I love O'hana's, I prefer LTT most times.

Whatever you decide, they are both great choices.

Just did both LTT and Ohana last week. We liked the food at Ohana more! LTT was fine, but it was like a Stouffer's Thanksgiving Dinner. I wouldn't NOT do it, but wouldn't put the food in the same category as Ohana. Also, the commute to Ohana from MK wasn't bad at all- my DD just thought of the monorail as another ride and I appreciated taking a short break from the themepark scene for an hour or so. We had 5:30 ADR's and it wasn't very crowded yet. They gave us a table by the window and we watched the sun begin to set over the castle.

Did both on my February Trip. LTT cost $28 a person. After eating my DH turned to me and said, "We just paid $75 for 1/2 a pound of cold cuts!" He was actually right some ham, some turkey, some thinly sliced beef.

The character interaction the night we were at LTT was also lacking. We have had better character interaction at Crystal Palace, as well as O'hana breakfast.

As for O'hana dinner, we loved it! :thumbsup2 The salad, the shrimp, the potatoes, the meat, the desert.

As someone else mentioned, the kids love to ride the monorail. It's my 2yo ds's favorite ride, with the bus coming in close second! :rotfl:

Thank you all so much!! We have the dinning plan so not worried about the price. but Ohana sounds much better. Just wanted to check.. the night we go will be the night Mk is open late so if we can ride the monorail and get back by wishes and some more rides then thats a plan..

Actually, we specifically planned our ADR at LTT to coincide with MK's EMH night. That way, we didn't have to worry about leaving the park, dealing with the crowds, then the monorail ride over to the Poly, etc., and then the longer trip back in to MK. We just stayed in MK, ate a fabulous meal with the traditional characters, and walked right back out into MK. We had a table right by the window where we could look out onto Liberty Square, Hall of Presidents, etc. Then the EMH crowds came. Oh well, LTT was nice at least.

ok never mind I just called (for Ohana) they dont have anything until 8:30 oh well my fault should not have waited so long I have ressies for LTT though at 8 so I moved them up to 5:25 at least we wont be eating during wishes.. thanks again you guys are great!!

I'm telling you, you will not be disappointed in "settling" for LTT over Ohana. Much simpler, less time-consuming, great character interaction, good views of Liberty Square area, and with the times you got, at a much more appealing time for most families with young kids. By 6:30 or 6:45 or so, you'll be back out in MK going to the attractions.

I've found in the past that Ohana is just not worth all the fuss over making ADR's for it, which is why I haven't been there in a few years now, and don't plan to go soon. LTT is just as good, and actually better, IMHO.

Have a great meal at LTT! I think the food sounds good(and Stouffer's is my favorite mac and cheese), but I highly doubt we'd ever go becasue its too similar to regular old FOOD, and I can get Stouffers mac and cheese anywhere. Just because it didn't work out Ohana this time, doesn't mean you can't try it another time. I never have had to "fuss" over ADR's there.

Have a great trip!
