Hi!

We are heading to WDW for Jersey Week (November) and so are our neighbors (our DS9s are best friends). There are 12 of us (6 adults and 6 kids- ages 5 to 12) and we plan to eat dinner together one night.

They are leaving the decision up to me  and I narrowed it down to Ohanas or Chef Mickeys. Please give me your opinions about both.

I hear the entertainment at Ohanas is fun- am I right on that? I am worried that the food and/or the entertainment won't live up to expectations and I'll be branded with choosing a bad restaurant. :headache:

Chef Mickey's seems like a "safe" choice, but I have already been there. I really want to go Ohanas, but will the kids like it?

I am so confused! HELP!:worried:

Well the kids would love Chef Mickeys for the characters, but our kids like Ohana's too especially if you eat later when Wishes is going on at MK. You can see it from Ohana's and they pipe in the music to the restaurant.

We dined at 'Ohana on Saturday night and it was really really good. We are repeat customers, so this was not our first time there. The service was pretty quick, the salad and appetizers (wontons with dipping sauces and the shrimp in the sweet/sour sauce) were brought straight from the kitchen and were great, as were the sticky wings. The potatoes seemed better than on our last visit, moist and piping hot. Meats were tender and flavorful. And then there is the bread pudding........OMG, it is the best ever! This time our girls were served vanilla ice cream with mickey sprinkles, leaving more bread pudding for Mom & Dad. Although both of them had servings of bread pudding also. They will also serve the old faithful kids standbys for the picky eaters, we saw the children at the table next to us eating uncrustable PB&J's with fries. To me Chef Mickey's is just too chaotic. We actually cancelled our Sunday night ADR for there in favor of Concourse, we were seated immediately, and saw the same people standing in the line to be seated at CM for I kid you not 25 minutes, this was after they were called to the podium!

I LOVE BOTH! But, if I were picking one for a family meal...I'd pick CM. It just feels like WDW to me. So much fun and food for all eaters. AND THE BEST dessert bar in WDW, that I have ever ate at!

I would pick Chef Mickeys for sure. I thought O'hana was ok. Chef mickey's had a nice selection for everyone and the dessert area was awesome!

For your party I would go with Chef Mickey's. There will be something there for everyone and you can get some great pictures with the whole gang. Good luck!

I don't think you can go terribly wrong at either.

But when the chips are down and I'm taking someone else somewhere, I stick to what I know to be good.

Hope that helps.

We like both. Chef Mickey's is a tradition for each trip for us, and it's the first place my two boys requested when I was making ADRs for our upcoming trip. 'Ohana is lots of fun and good food, though my kids personally prefer Chef Mickey's. I think either place is a good option.

I have put together a writeup on Magic Kingdom spots to eat with kids, and I reccomend both of these. Your kids will enjoy Ohana. So if your inclined to try it just make sure you hit another characer meal or go to the character connection at Epcot where your kids can catch up with roughly the same characters.

Go to Ohana!!!! Love this restaurant. friendly, fast service, good food ( and lots of it). Fun, music, excellent view of castle and fireworks if you go at a later time. Recommend totally going here!!! I want to go back now. I went there twice. So good!!

Is there a way you could talk the other planners into doing both? Maybe do the Lilo and Stitch Breakfast at Ohana's---and do CM?

It would be nice fo you to be able to do something new, but as one poster said, go w/ what you know is good.

We (DH and DS8 and I) actually enjoyed CM the second time better than the 1st---we went early, early, as in about 4:30pm---it was calmer then and gave us plenty of time to relax and not rush back for a good parade spot.

Ohana's watching Wishes sounds like fun, but don't you want to be right there in MK to view it?
