Okay, I have read the food can be dry at Ohana's but some really like it?
I also know Boma's is a favorite at the AKL.
Currently I have reservations at Ohana's but didnt realize how "loud" it might be, it is just my husband and I. The kids will be at the Neverland Club for the night. We wanted to try some place like the "all you can eat" places w/o the kids as they are extremely picky eaters.

So,I am going to post this and see which is more popular, as I cannot decide where I want to eat now after reading the bad comments on Ohana's.

I really hate to spend so much per person and not really enjoy my meal.

I need to decide in about 2 weeks or less where to go to assure I can get PS.:wave2:

Boma! I think the food is better, and there is much more variety. And instead of a pineapple with carmel sauce or paying lots extra for dessert, you will literally be able to choose from dozens of magnificent creations. Plus, it will give you an excuse to visit the beautiful AKL.

I had the same problem deciding...so we will be eating at both in August!:D

Both are fun, Boma has better food, less atmosphere:D

For a meal for 2 adults, I would absolutely chose Boma over Ohana. You and DH would have a nice time exploring the resort. You can walk out to the rock and see the animals. There are rocking chairs around a fire pit to sit and relax.

Perhaps you could try Ohana when the kids are a bit older and not so picky. They would enjoy the hula hoops and coconut races. FYI: you can get kids meal items at Ohana. They come from Kona next door.

Boma's definately.
O'hana's was ok for dinner, much better for breakfast. Dinner was too much meat. Boma's you can pick and choose what you want, and the desserts are the best. Go early and check out the animals. The only other buffet that you could try is the one at Beach Club, Cape May Clambake and that way your kids would be at the same area as you were.:wave2:

I would do Boma if I'm mostly concerned with the food, Ohana if I'm looking for fun, atmosphere and a view.

My family and I love both, but for what you're looking for I would definitely go with Boma. First of all, you will love the AKL...maybe get there early and enjoy a glass of wine at Victoria Falls. Then after dinner, as you're digesting, you can explore the grounds a bit and wander by the savannah near the pool area. There's also an observation area just off of the main lobby which has a fire pit and (I think) storytelling.

I think Boma will give you more bang for your buck and it will be a truly wonderful experience for you. Enjoy!!!

Let me warn you... You may have heard that Ohana is loud due to the kids, but that's really only during the "games". When we went to Boma, it was SO loud, we could barely talk to each other! It really was much louder than Ohana.

I will have to disagree, and say to try Ohana. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is good and it would be a great place for a dinner with your dh! ;)

My vote is for Boma. You can leave your children at Simba's Cub House instead of the Neverland Club and have dinner. Then your whole family can explore AKL and even take part in some of the activities like story telling and animal viewing with nightvision goggles.:D

Overall, I thought BOMA was a much nicer restaurant. Neither is totally quiet, the downfall of an all-you-can-eat that is popular. I felt our conversation was more "private" at BOMA.

BUT, when I pay that for an all-you-can-eat........it's not so I can eat until I blow up.............it's so I can try all kinds of different foods, even if it is only a minimal helping. I was very disappointed that OHANA offers so little to try. Other than meat/shrimp, we had.......what.........5 things on our lazy susan and salad, green beans, rice & wings are not what I call something new to try.

There are so many different and interesting foods at BOMA you would have a hard time trying them all. Also the desserts are WONDERFUL and quite a huge step up from pineapple with carmel.

I also liked Jo-Jo's idea of the kids at Simba's. They will love some of the hotel activities, there are several at night, including looking at the animals with night vision goggles.

Boma's is awesome, but you have to go there with an open mind because the food is all African. There's alot of stuff there (it is a buffet) that my sister and I-both picky eaters) did not think we would enjoy. But after a firm scolding from Disney parents who had both just spent a good deal of money for our meal, and did not take us to Disney to throw money away on food we weren't going to eat, we gave it a try. It is now the restaurant we are looking foward to the most. I also dream about Zebra Domes.
We will be eating at Ohana's in 3 days when we leave. I have never been, so I can not give you a fair opinion on it, but if you are truly debating, I really would stick with Boma's because it is a really nice experience. And you will forget all about any other buffet once you eat a zebra dome...

WE have the same problem and the only way to solve it is to eat at both. Thats what we are doing next week. LOL ::MickeyMo

Both are MUSTS for us.

We have done 'Ohana when it was just the two of us (we have no kids), and with a multi-generational group of nine last fall (including my 3 yr old nephew). I have never had dry meat at 'Ohana, but we always make an early PS, and that might make a difference. We LOVE this place. It has never been "loud" when we were there, and when it was just DH and me we had a lovely table for 2 overlooking the marina and Castle, and a bit away from the coconut races.

We adore Boma for the food, but it was LOUD for breakfast and dinner. Children run screaming past other diners to get to the buffet. DH always says he wishes WDW would have "adults only" seatings or sections set aside for those without kids so that we would not have to eat so many expensive meals with other people's kids showing up at our table, kicking our chairs or screaming, but of course you can't expect serenity at WDW!

I think the games at 'Ohana really help the kids burn off some energy, and the little ones in our group of nine found plenty of food they enjoyed--they absolutely LOVED the appetizers on the lazy susan! They enjoyed making their own choices and dipping in the sauces. It was the one meal where the adults could relax because we did not need to "entertain" the kids.

Seriously, you can't go wrong with either one.

Enjoy!

Both are "must-do" restaurants for us. But if I had to pick only one, I would pick Boma.
