O'Hana Dinner Reviews Please

I am thinking about going to O'Hanas for dinner one night during our trip in January with my DH, and two DDs (7 & 10) but am unsure if everyone would enjoy it. Can anyone who has been there let me know what to expect. Thanks!

I'm assuming you mean 'Ohana. Why everyone thinks it's Irish, I'll never figure out....

Good choice for a rehearsal dinner, due to the family-atmosphere and the entertainment. However, we would not pick this place to eat again by ourselves. We found the meat a tad dry, although others in the wedding party raved about the turkey, claiming it the best they had ever had. I did like the shrimp and sirloin had an excellent flavor. Heather preferred the fried rice and wontons, not enjoying the shrimp as they were unpeeled and sometimes had the shell burned into the flesh. The chicken wings were a fave of mine, as well. We skipped the offered desserts and just went with the pineapple chunks and caramel dipping sauce, which disappeared in seconds. Heather had the lapu lapu in a pineapple and I had their version of a pina colada, which we both agreed was the better choice for taste, if not quite as festive. We arrived around 8:15pm, were seated closer to 8:30pm and got to see the 10pm fireworks. The coconut races and hula hoping weren’t a terrible distraction. The singer did coerce us into having a dance to her ukulele and we got traditional Hawaiian marriage garland. Nice touch and not horrendously embarrassing.

My family loves 'Ohana. The food is really tasty, the atmosphere brings to a far away tropical land, and there are activities for the children. There are coconut races and hula hoop contests which all of the children seem to enjoy. We went last fall and at that time they gave out gummy worms to all of the children at the finish line. 'Ohana is definitely a must do during every trip for my family. Have a great time!

Ohana has become a family favorite. The food has always been fresh and tasty, the service prompt and friendly. We've only been twice but both times we had servers who seemed genuinely interested in meeting us and joking around with DS.

The children's events were hilarious! A great way to feel like you're in a group of extended family, with all the children playing together and having fun. No one is forced to participate, of course, but there is a little treat at the end of the events.

Give it a try, and be ready to walk away absolutely stuffed.

My sister and I ate at 'Ohana on our trip in 2000 and absolutely loved it. We both agree that it was the best food that we had on our entire trip! My fiance' and I are planning our wedding rehersal dinner there next June and I can't wait. As long as your party doesn't include vegitarians you should be fine. There is a good selection of different meats and shrimp and the staff keeps coming around asking if you want more! We left and were glad that it was the end of the night - because I don't think we could have made it any further than our hotel room - we were absolutely stuffed!

We ate at 'Ohana on our last day of our Spring Break trip last year. I traveled with my husband and 2 children and my parents. The meal was great and the festivities kept the children (4 and 8) from acting too poorly during the meal -- when they were racing the coconuts, I could EAT! Anyway, we had a seat in the window and could see the castle and then they shot off the fireworks. My daughter said "I will remember this night forever" and my mother started to cry! It was quite the moment.

This is a great place, festive and fun. Good food, great people; have a ball! Mom and I shared one of the "extra" desserts you can order -- a ball of vanilla ice cream rolled in toasted coconut and drizzled in chocolate syrup. YUM... tastes like a big Almond Joy bar. What's not to like here?

We just had dinner there in August and had a wonderful meal. Everything was excellent and the CMS were great.

Our family, (DH, 2 DD's 7 & 8) ate there in April of last year. We absolutely loved it! I have one child who will eat anything and one who is somewhat picky. To my surprise my child who will eat anything stuck with the appetizer plate that they bring you as you sit down and ate all of the chicken wings. The picky child ate 2 and a half steaks plus some turkey. We all felt that we got our money's worth. The food is fantastic but be prepared to come away very full! The waiters are very attentive and your plate will never be empty. Be sure to ask for a water view when you check in for your PS and they will certainly try to accommodate you. Ours was the first seating of the evening at 5:00 and we really enjoyed watching the MK. I would highly recommend this place for anyone except vegetarians.

Ohanas is a family favorite here. Even with only 4 days at the World this Oct, we have managed to schedule dinner there.

It's one of my son's (now 9) favorite restaurants in Disney. (Tied with Boma at AKL).

Enjoy your meal there! We always do.
