'Ohana Dinner Reservation Question

I booked our ADR for our dinner (party of 4) at 'Ohana on the last day of our stay 11/29/13, the only availability was 8:50. I am going to try everyday from now until then to find an earlier time but my question is in worst case scenario I can't get an earlier time then what are our chances of getting in earlier the day of if we show up early, say 7:30ish?

I'd say you'll have a better chance of catching a cancellation if you keep checking reservation system online. I was checking for my date (July 3) for about 2 months straight when a 7:00 time slot showed up out of the blue. I was so shocked that I almost exited out and lost it. But it does happen that people need to cancel trips or move their ADR's around. With the new credit card policy, I think it's easier to get those hard-to-get ADR's because people are forced or "reminded" to cancel ahead of time.

Unlikely since your res is for the day after Thanksgiving. 'Ohana is usually fully booked and as the evening progresses, it tends to fall behind schedule. If you have a later reservation, most likely they will tell you to come back at the time of your reservation, especially since that's a very busy day.

We've found that if you keep checking online frequently (multiple times daily for a day after Thanksgiving res), people do cancel, but you never know when a better time will come up.

Probably about 0 chance if you are just walking in early. We have been able to change reservations several times by checking frequently online. Once we were even able to change early on the same day. I would think you would have a pretty good chance with that if you are diligent about checking.

Thanks everyone! Fortunately this morning I woke up to a 5:10p.m. Reservation opening & booked it immediately. So happy! With that being said I just cancelled my 8:50 time if anyone wants it!!

what time do dinner reservations begin at Ohana? is it 4:30 pm or later?

I grabbed the only open res. during our Sept. trip but it's 9:45pm....I really don't want to eat that late so of course I am checking the online system constantly to see if anything earlier opens up but no luck so far. I don't have a certain time we need to eat but I would like something not as late. Just wondering how early they start dinner.

When we were there in October and March it opened at 5:00. You can go to the dining reservation page and click on 'Ohana for the day you're interested in to check the times.

thanks for the reply! I've been checking the online res. system constantly and the only time that comes up available for dinner during is 9:45 - 9:50pm and I've checked every single day of our trip lol I guess I'll keep checking back and hope for a cancellation, we'd much rather eat earlier (like 5pm-ish) than 10pm especially with the kids

Keep checking the boards at various times each day. First I got an 8:50 pm reservation because it was the only available one, the next morning was able to get a 5:10 reservation and 4 days later was able to get our ideal time of 7:50. Not too late or too early (we are doing AK that day and didn't want to leave the park early- it closes as 7 that day). Good luck!
