I made an ADR for 'Ohana at 9:30 pm for our 1st night. This was the earliest ADR they had. Because of the time change this would be 8:30 our time. Does anyone have experience with taking their kids to 'Ohana this late?

Our flight arrives at 12:50p. I thought we could go to the resort, take a nap and then hit MK until time to go for our ADR. We do not need to get up early the next day.

We have a rental car so we could park in the MK lot and take monorail to the MK and then have DH move it to poly before dinner.

I would never try to do dinner that late with kids, especially after being on a plane. My kids do a lot better in the earlier dinner hours. If your kids are night owls and often stay up late, it might be okay, but for my 3, it wouldn't work, and we'd regret it. The nap thing isn't always reliable either. You might not be able to calm them down after the plane ride, and their realization that they're in WDW.

On our first night, we did Crystal Palace at 5:30 (that was 4:30 for us, but they were hungry by then). The kids were tired and I don't think they could have lasted until really late at night. I do know that every family is different, though.

I know last year with my kids (then 2 and 6), they did fine. Of course we know everyone is different, but my kids love to stay up late. Also, we went on a no park day. We did Chef Mickey's for a late brkfst (1030), napped drove around a bit then went to Ohana, however I do wish we had had an earlier ADR, as we were a bit hungry before our 920pm reservation. We were also fortunate enough to see Wishes from our table by the window, what a treat, and we had a great meal!

You know your kids best and would know how they'd be at 8:30 at night (your time). Can they wait that long to eat? Or will they be able to appreciate the meal if you need to feed them earlier? There are some younger kids in Disney restaurants at that hour, and some are doing OK, some are sound asleep, and some are screaming. Many people find the first day to be tiring, with the excitment and a little stressful from organizing everything. You might be under-estimating what you'll all feel like at 9:30, unless you have a nice long nap.

Even though you may get to your resort ~ 2-2:30, your room may not be ready so you won't be able to nap right away. Also, the 9:30 ADR doesn't mean you'll be seated at 9:30.

Especially since you have young kids, you might want to plan for O'Hana's on another night, when you can get in earlier, and when there's a better chance you can all enjoy it. Or, keep calling to see if there's an earlier time.

Hope you have a great trip!

Of course, one of the great things about Ohana is the fact that you can see Wishes from there. You might want to try getting there half an hour or so early and requesting a window seat, that way the kids have the fireworks to look forward to and the excitement should help keep them awake :thumbsup2

I probably wouldn't do it with kids that young. We have done late dinners with the sweetpea, but shes the kind of kid that can handle that and go with the flow. You are the only one who can make the decision on if your kids can deal with eating that late. But I think you should try something earlier or somewhere else.

WE had an 8:30 @ 1900 Park Fare with a 5, 12 and 14 year old. We arrived about 1 hour early and we were called in around 8:10? Show up early, it can't hurt, if the wait is too much, call it a night and order room service or food court it.

Coconut race, hula dance and what else :scratchin I think little kids will do fine while they are there(too busy jumping around :) ) But after dinner, you might want the fastest and easiest way back to the resort. The car thing is quite ingenious ! :thumbsup2

I would never do that with my son, but I know him and I know he'd be tired and cranky. If your kids are night owls, it may be different.

You will want to consider that check in time is not until 3:00PM and others have reported sometimes not getting a room until 5:00. Would your children be okay with no nap or a late, shorter nap? If there is anyway to try to do Ohana another day I would try to do that.

My ds is 2 and I couldnt imagine him eating that late. It wouldnt be any fun for any of us. But you know your dc and if they could do that. Also remember after a day of travel everyone is tired.

On the night we're doing 'Ohana I could only get an 8:15 which is much later than we normally eat, but I took it and I plan to try to call in the mornings until we leave to see if they have an earlier time available. Maybe you could keep trying, but if you're not able to get an earlier ADR you can be the judge of your kids on the day you get there and if you think they're up to it.

I would keep trying to get an earlier time. We called on Saturday and were able to get a 5:30 seating for this Friday. We weren't expecting anything and were surprised when they had early times available.

I would recommend another restaurant instead of subjecting the family to a 9:30 dinner. You can do it, but it may not be enjoyable - what's more important to you?

I was able to change the time! I had read on Allears that Ohana's was opening an hour earlier. I was able to get a 4:10p reservation. Still not perfect, but at least my kids will get to bed at a decent hour.

Yeah...sometimes the times work out and sometimes they don't. Last time we were at O'hana's, we had to wait 30 min. past our scheduled time for a table. In a scenario like that, you wouldn't be eating until after 10:00.

Like others said, it's up to what you're family is up to the first day. We tend to take it easy on arrival day so we're well rested to start in earnest the first park day.

we did decide to come in the night before. I just pricelined a hotel. I got the doubletree club for $42.

I think the new time of 4:10 will be great for our first day. We can get our tickets from the hotel around eleven, go to MK for a few hours, have dinner at 'Ohana and then back to the room. The room will be ready after dinner if it wasn't ready before.
