Oh what a horrible trip!!!! Now for something completely different-Final blast ......

Okay...I think I'm caught up.

It's a Small Boat to China...I mean It's a Small World seems a lot different than the DW version. Am I wrong about this?

Two seaters next to each other for Space Mountain? I bet a lot of people wish it were that way at DW.

I continue to marvel at all the detail you pick up...gift shops, food, garbage cans, bathrooms.

You have been busy this weekend. ;)

IASW is different at DL in that the queue loads outside, they have inserted Disney characters throughout the ride, and I think the ride may actually be a little longer but

same dolls and same song. :rotfl2:

Also the clock is out front and every quarter hour it does a little show, that was cute.

This would look good at Columbia Harbor House

IMG_6860.jpg

It would!! :thumbsup2 Although, I'm sure, as anything to do with Disney, there is some story behind why it's there in DL and not WDW. Ya know?

Time to get wet- This one you sit one behind the other single file. Sorry Somehow I managed NO pictures of the log. :sad2:

:rotfl: It's a modification actually. It use to be you would sit on a long bench that was centered the length of the entire log and everyone would straddle one another, talk about uncomfortable if you didn't know the party in front of you or behind you!! :scared:

The log was a little front end loaded and the guy in front got soaked!!!! Being further back I was spared.

This time I didn't.....

I love how a lot of the queues are outside at DL, it's been so long since I've been there, the only one's I really remember well were the Tea cups, and IASW.

And yes, it's due to the weather they have the queues they way they do at WDW. If you think about it, there's no way they could make everyone stand outside with the weather the way it is in FL, between the hot sun and the wet weather, they wouldn't have very many people staying in the parks during the hot and wet months. :sad2:

In southern Calif. (and at DL) it almost never rains (the golden state doesn't just get it's name because of all the sun, the hills are full of golden grass because of hardly any rain :rotfl:) , the sunny beautiful weather is almost never over 90, and relatively low humidity once the sun burns off the days smog. :crazy2:

I am sure there is.... He still looks like the Gordon's Fisherman though. :lmao:

I think it is still kind of where you have your legs along the sides even if you have a seat. SM was like that early on.

I know Walt thought of most everything but I really don't think he realized how popular it would be. Most of the original rides had little room for an extensive queue but the newer ones.... like in CA and IJ have great queues. Sure the weather plays a part in having them be outside but it was still hot when I was there.

Haunted mansion outside

The Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay was on so I was in for a special treat.

It was cute with Jack but I also hope to see it sometime in it's non holiday version.

Pat, I love how the Haunted Mansion is decorated...very cool. I don't remember the one at DW being decorated in December. I'll have to pay special attention when I'm there this December.

WDW does not do the overlay. At DL IASW also does a holiday overlay and SM has Ghost galaxy.

I may have read that the time it takes to put up and take down the overlay impacts the ride so they don't do it. I really wish they would.

Jack and Sally being at WDW this year has excited a lot of people. I've tried to watch Nightmare Before Christmas, but it held my attention for less than five minutes. Just not my thing, I guess, but it has a huge fan base. I like a song or two from it. At least it may ease the line for the Seven Dwarfs a bit. :thumbsup2

Confession...I'm not a big Nightmare Before Christmas fan. So I can't say I'm too excited to see the overlay there. But I'm probably in the minority.

How cool, that you got to see HM dressed up!

It really was a neat time to go. I would like to see it without the overlay but I think my next chance to possibly go will be during Halloween time too.

It is neat to see the Nightmare stuff but I don't get crazy over it. DL is heavy on the Nightmare before Christmas theming and it has it's place but I guess we shall see how it goes over at WDW.

It is neat to see something different but I have no idea what the regular HM looks like. Would I like it at WDW? Probably not but it was cool to see.

The big plus it they can put the overlay up before Halloween and keep it there through he new year. :lmao:

Pirates- Here again the DL ride is a bit different. The loading are while partially inside is NOTHING like WDW's. You get to see a bit of the ride as you stand in line.

You go back up up up to get back to the unloading area.

Your last float is by everyone standing in line.

How else should I end an update but with these?

IMG_6972.jpg

I remember seeing the HM all decorated (yeeeears ago) and thought it was pretty cool. And I've never seen the Nightmare Before Christmas, and I'm no where near a Jack fan, his voice yes, but that's because I'm a Danny Elfman fan (one of the biggest musical genius's of the 80's-you'd know him best from the song Weird Science-by Oingo Boingo). :)

Although, seeing the mansion without all the décor is a must too. I like it better than the inside of the one at WDW, although I think the WDW one is longer. They're both great, I just like one more over the other. :upsidedow

I'm also a bigger fan of POC in DL, along with IASW. :thumbsup2 ::yes::

What did you think of N.O. square? There's something amazing about DL that you can't get in WDW, I think it's the fact that's where Walt walked, dreamed and made it all come true. :cloud9:

New Orleans Square and POTC were my favorite parts of DL. NOSq because it was totally new to me, and POTC because I loved going through the bayou -- so cool!

Wow Pat. Not sure why but I am more behind than I thought possible. I am a bad DISer.

I continued to love all your pictures. You do such a great job of capturing the features of all the rides. Splash looks really cool, as does POC. But I really like the looks of HM. The building looks so entirely different. I think the overlay is pretty cute too. I really need to see this place for myself. :thumbsup2

I would love to see and take a lot of pictures in this area. I think it looks cool. I like the French Quarter architecture. When Trent and Brandi sailed out of NOLA, they said it was so dirty, so I am anxious to get her to POFQ and show her a cleaner version of those pretty buildings.

You go back up up up to get back to the unloading area.

IMG_6969.jpg

That is certainly different. Kind of Splash/Big Thunder-ish feeling, it looks like.

And as always, I am glad to know that there are plenty of trash cans, should I need them. :thumbsup2

Now I KNOW I replied to these last night ( well except for MeMom's since she posted later ) but they are GONE.

I was there in late September so only HM was all dressed up. Lucky it stays that way until after the New Year. I would really like to see it as just HM though

PoC was different and fun. N.O. square is nice but I need to explore fully.

New Orleans Square and POTC were my favorite parts of DL. NOSq because it was totally new to me, and POTC because I loved going through the bayou -- so cool!

I liked looking for the differences and the new and unique things. I think I will see new things when I go back and wonder how I missed them.

You pulling all that OT is why but that does not make you a bad DISer.
Just a busy DISer. :rolleyes1
I spent all weekend teaching and luckily this was a great class. They knew their stuff and beside being well teenagers..... everything went smoothly.

You do need to get out there sometime. ::yes::

Yes I was kind of odd to up in a boat instead of the walkway .

When I sorted these they just ended up there. They were probably just outside in N.O.Square. But what better way to end the update? :rotfl2:

Love the looks of New Orleans Square.

Nice pics of POTC (do you know I still have not seen the mermaids at POTC in DW?).

Love how you end with garbage cans. :rotfl:
