LOL.....I am so glad that I wasn't eating or drinking anything at this moment, or I would have spit it out all over my desk/computer.....

I love your resturant reviews...all of them...good or bad.....I wasn't impressed with this menu, and now I will definately pass it by.

I think this tops my favorite of the "sad little crab cake" story

I came to post about this, and you beat me to it! I almost hurt myself from bursting out and laughing so hard! :rotfl2:

John's "Oh, Sweet Mother of God!!" followed by Kevin saying: "after Sweet Mother of God??? I'm on my own here...I still gotta mix my two desserts to make them okay!!

Thanks everyone, for making my day!! I'll be listening to this one again and again!!

Now I have to backtrack and tell my parents that we shouldn't eat at the Wave for lunch :goodvibes. I do not want to get blamed for eating there if they don't like it...thank you Kevin SOOOO much for this review :thumbsup2.

Uh oh...haven't finished listening yet, but we booked at the Wave to kill off some dining credits...

Now that I'm getting an AP, I've got to reevaluate about getting DDP and instead the TIW, so we could possibly drop the extra meal...

doconeill, I am currently booked with the Deluxe Dining Plan for my trip in December and am contemplating the same thing. Would I be better off booking a room only, and buying the TiW card, or is the Deluxe Dining Plan worth it in your opinion? I don't mean to hijack the thread... but after hearing this review I am very worried. I ate at The Wave on a trip to WDW last August and found it to be great. Now, I am just worried about the quality tanking with the spread of the 'free dining' bug.

I was with a party of 6 on the 4th of July and we ate at the Wave. I have to say - we were all extremely happy. We all had different meals and all shared bites of our food with each other. I loved it! Everything was so delicious and we still talk about the amazing desserts and potatoes lol. Sometimes you have to go and make your own opinion. I've eaten at some places people rave about and I don't see the big deal (LeCellier) and have also loved places other people thought was gross. Same thing goes with resorts. I don't see the attraction to the Poly - but other people die for the place. It's different strokes for different folks. :)

Oh - my aunt (the pickiest human alive that always complains about everything) also ate at the Wave and liked it in August. I almost fell over that she didn't say it was all crap. So again - just bc one person didn't like it doesn't mean you have to necessarily change all your plans. They say that on the podcast all the time - it's 1 person's opinion. I wouldn't dread going to the Wave at all! Try it! :thumbsup2

It's horribly complicated math, really :teacher:

I've never considered the deluxe plan. That's a lot of TS meals. And free dining isn't an option for us since we're going DVC. But I did the math the hard way - I went to AllEars, looked at the menus, chose the meals I wanted under the assumption I'm paying out of pocket, and added it up. Standard DDP came close enough to not worry too much about it.

But now that I have the TIW option, I have to redo the math with the discounts, factor in the cost of the TIW (I'm doing the AP regardless so won't factor that cost in), and decide if there are meals we could just skip (like the Wave - we only added that because the adults are going on signature meals but the kids aren't, so we had two adult and two kids TS credits left over to kill).

And just to drive myself more insane I have to also compare against existing AP and DVC discounts.

I haven't listened to the review and i know you typically don't do breakfast reviews. we had lunch here and we were thoroughly disappointed. HOWEVER, breakfast here is absolutely fabulous and this place has the best coffee on property. I look forward to the humor here for the review. Thanks for everything!

Where can I find the review? We're booked at the Wave in October, and now I'm worried! :guilty:

Kevin is kinda like the Jessica Fletcher of the Disney restaurants. Don't ever invite him to dinner unless you're expecting drama/espionage/tastebud murder.

Seriously, it's like he has the worst luck in the world!

Is the photo of the 'chicken pot pie' up anywhere? After listening to the description I have to see a photo of this thing.

I thought the review was very funny, though sad they had that experience. I usually try a place twice before I come to a final opinion. Sometimes you get a bad server or meal. But the next time you go, it could be great. If a place is bad both times, it is probably bad overall.

I love the Wave. I've eaten there three times and adored it each time. In fact, all three times one person in my party or another has ordered the chicken pot pie, and the universal agreement has been that the chicken pot pie was the best of all of the dishes ordered.

I'm not saying that Kevin's experience was in any way misleading. And I've never been during free dining, so it's possible that things are very different when free dining is going on and it's crowded. (I've never been at crowded times.) But I've always loved the food and the service there.

Yes, very, very funny! I like how they just had to watch the children be tortured!

I haven't listened to the review yet, but thank you for posting this! We have an ADR here for October for breakfast and I was getting worried!

When I started listening to this week's podcast I was most excited to hear Kevin's review of the Wave. I couldn't wait for it. I love listening to his reviews. I just had to hear what he thought of the Wave.
I ate at the Wave Aug of 2009. Let me tell you, it was the ONLY good dining experience I had on our 5 night trip to the world. Now, after listening to Kevin, apparently, my standard for fine dining must be quite low...;)

I thought I had a really pleasant lunch. Let me tell you that my family of 4 were the only ones there. This lunch at 12:30 in the middle of the week. My two girls had a blast in the blue lobby lounge. It had a space mountain feel to it. But Kevin is right about the room itself. The lobby/lounge and the dining area of starkly different. Yes, I agree, it is quite beige.

But I really really enjoyed my meal. Ok, for the record, I had been eating counter service, crystal palace, and chef mickey. I guess you could say most anything else would have been better.

Here is a picture of the wave.
As you can see, there was no one there during our dining time.

Loved the review...laughed out loud at work, several times! Kevin sure has a way with a phrase and John gets those one-liners in there that make me bust a gut.

That stated, we loved The Wave on the two occassions we've been there, one with my parents who are extremely picky (they liked it too). Once they were brought hot potatoes they felt it was one of the best meals they had while at WDW with us. Our service has been exceptional...once with a terrific guy and the other with an extremely pleasant woman. DH loves it there and was really pleased when I booked it again for December - I had originally booked Kouzzina but with his parents joining us we've tried to reduce travel time for their sake. I sure hope The Wave lives up to our prior experiences.

I've dined at the Wave several times.

As a matter of fact, John and I were the first "paying customers" on opening day.

I've had several dinners and two lunches.

As I said at the start of my review.....all of my previous experiences were good.

This one was not....and I feel things have changed.
