Ok, after weeks of research to decide which Universal Resort to stay with my DD16, DS6 and DDs friend17, DDs friend will most likely not be joining us! Now I'm wondering if I should switch over to Disney :headache: . DD is in to rollercoaters but I know she won't go on any of them by herself - I don't do those kinds of rollercoasters :scared1: and of course DS6 won't either!. I'm thinking she's going to be very disappointed not being able to go on the rollercoasters (yes, she could go on them alone....but I know she won't) and won't really enjoy herself all that much.

At least at WDW all three of us would be able to enjoy the same rides - except Space Mnt., Rock 'n Roller coaster, Exp. Everest and Tower of Terror which DS wouldn't be able to go on.

But on the other hand, we've never been to Universal and I kinda wanted a "relaxed" trip this time, which I think we might've achieved at Universal. If we go to WDW I know we'll be at the parks from open to close and there won't be much relaxing going on.

I checked on the WDW website and there is no availabililty in a moderate resort for the time we are going (airline tickets already purchased) Jan 16-21.The only availability in the values is All Star Music (which we've stayed at before) - would've like to try a different resort :sad1: and I can't afford a deluxe at WDW :sad2: .

Once again, I'm asking for opinions (and also just venting!) :upsidedow . What would you do?

Give Universal a try. You don't have to love coasters to love Universal. There are so many other rides and shows to see.

I don't do the three big coasters and I still love Universal. We have been numerous times and I still have not been bored.

Give it a try, especially if you want a more relaxed vacation!

There are really only three coaster in the Universal Parks. There is a lot more to see and do. I always go with a friend who will not ride any coasters, and she loves these parks.

Thanks for the nudges! I talked to my daughter and she would still like to go to Universal even if her friend doesn't go......so we're still going.

This was supposed to be a surprise trip given as a Christmas gift - until this problem with the friend not going came about and then I thought I had better let her know in case she would rather go to WDW. I had just guessed on what resort they would prefer, but after talking about it we think we would like the theming of the Royal Pacific, so I think I'm gonna switch resorts!!!

That should answer your question right there :thumbsup2

But, I agree with the above posters....there are 3 major outdoor coasters (looping) and 1 major indoor coaster (Mummy)....I think if you can do RnR and Space, you can do Mummy..... If the 3 major outdoor coasters were ALL Universal had to offer, not many people would go...there is SO much other stuff....go, give it a try, relax, and then come back here and tell us how "hooked" you are! ;)
