Ok now you are in for it. You are trapped in here how. The Evil "YARC" Panda has trapped you.:scared1:

Your only hope is to pay your toll. You must give your best health or fitness tip. Should you refuse and try to escape you will be consumed by the killer rabbits at the ToT race, yep, they are straight from Monty Python's "Holly Grail". Be afraid!

Besides we all saw you come in here and everyone will know if you wuss out and run away. Now on with it give us a your best health or fitness trip. You may return to read others tips but you might be captured again.....:rolleyes1

I'll go first so Big Vic and PatsBill can figure out how.

When you have a salad, get your dressing on the side. Then stick your fork first in the dressing before getting a bite of salad. That way you get the taste of your favorite dressing in each bite and you will use way less than if it was poured on your salad.

Don't try to escape or you will be in peril at the ToT, those rabbits are without mercy.

My tip! Avoid mindless nighttime eating, by brushing and flossing your teeth! Not only will you avoid calories, but you will have a dazzling smile!

My tip, still being in the experimental stage of this new healthy-eating, regular-exercise life style, is to continuously seek information and ask for advice from those who have travelled the road before. From there, modify so it works for you.

As to those WISHing to escape the "Killer Rabbit", I offer the Holy Hand Granade. If used, please remember "to count to three in the following manner -- one ... two ... three. No more than three, no less than three."

Don't skip breakfast! Start your day out right.

Now, it's wabbit season. :stir:

Steff you may pass through the forest at the ToT in peace. No fur terrors shall attack.

So it is written, so it shall be. I wonder if the 'Holy Hand Granade' works on the Boogie to.

Tis true the breakfast is the most important meal of the day for high performance athletes who wear lime green.

Run for your life! Run for your life!

I fart in your general direction! I'm not afraid of your killer rabbits. But I'll share a tip nontheless. I have a list of filling snacks that taste good and are filling. I find denial of the urge to munch does not work so I choose snacks like Pop Secret's 100 calorie bags of Kettle Corn... YUUUUMMMMM!!!! Or Philly Swirl popcicles at 45 calories a shot! They are not reallypopcicles, they're a frozen "confection" and are ohhhhh so satisfying to my sweets cravings!

I also watch TV at night while sitting stride my pilates ball for an hour or so, as opposed to being on the couch. (I'm still trying to figure out how I can configure something to put my laptop on while on my pilates ball. :confused3 )

Sometimes I just feel the need to chew on something. Or I guess to keep my mouth busy. I find that is an easy time to just eat for no reason.

I take a half a stick of gum and chew on that instead. Saves me from eating mindlessly and gives my mouth something to do.

OK, fellow YARCers, this is from Nancy Clark's "Food Guide for Marathoners"...

"If blown diets are your downfall, I recommend you take the following steps:

  • Experiment with eating bigger breakfasts and lunches.
  • Plan a substantial afternoon snack or second lunch, especially if you won't be eating dinner until after 7 p.m.
  • "Diet" at night by eating smaller portions than usual."

The reason I wanted to post this tidbit is because I keep blowing my diet and I'm going to try these suggestions. ;)

Be mindful of what you are eating. I am a big nibbler. As I'm making my kids' meals I'll try a taste of hot dog, a bite of cheese a little bit of pasta. So before I've even sat down for my meal I've consumed a couple hundred extra calories. You really need to think about it before you just pop it in your mouth.

Fitness:

Follow your plan, but listen to your body too. I've been really tired this last week, but kept my miles up. I woke up today and decided I wasn't going to do my LR. It was absolutely liberating- I'm more rested, and I'm looking forward to hitting the gym tomorrow and squeezing in the time for a LR instead of dreading it.

Health:

It's fairly obvious, but we as a family ate out WAY too much. We stopped eating out this summer and we're all looking and feeling better. DH has been avoiding salt because of high blood pressure- he's lost at least 30 pounds this summer and his blood pressure is normal again. The weirdest part is that after a week or so, we all stopped craving bad foods. (Yes, we have our moments still when we are tempted, but it's nothing like it used to be).

If you do have to go out for work or whatever, Dave's salad dressing tip is great!

Oh, and having a crazy toddler seriously helps in the not eating out thing- he makes eating out miserable for me! And, of course, all bets are off at Disney- we'll be eating our way around the World at the Food and Wine Festival!

My health tip: when you want something to eat and you are bored-get up and moving (clean out a closet, organize a shelf...) Not only do I prevent eating, I'm slowly cleaning and reoganizing my hours.

Find somebody to be accountable to. This summer I have trained for 2 marathons completely on my own -- I haven't even had internet access for most of it. It has been so hard, and I know that I was not as prepared for my first marathon as I would have liked to have been. Now I am preparing for my second, and it is such a challenge, I just wish I knew somebody who was in the same boat. THAT is why I popped back on here at my first chance, because I missed the support that WISH offers! It helps to support others, too, because nothing feels worse than being hypocritical!

Of course, my dear boyfriend helps a lot -- he'll buy me ice cream any day that I stick to my training plan. Ice cream is my favorite food, and just one little scoop can't really hurt, can it?

Great tips WISH Team, you all my pass through the forest of terror in peace.

Thank goodness. I was afraid we were all going to have to learn the average flying velocity of a sparrow (both African and European) or something like that.

Will the Queen still be requiring a shrubbery?

"It's only a flesh wound, come back here and fight like a man, I'll bite your ankle".

Bill, man it's a family channel we can't discuss the Queen's landscaping. Now bow to her Royal Highness, the beautiful and mischecious, Queen Judy:snooty: of the court of "YARC", and beg forgiviness.

Evil "YARC" Panda.

One word.....fiber! Fiber is our friend! Increase your intake of fiber, and it keeps you fuller, longer! Only, a word of advice, increase your fiber intake slowly. Too much, too fast, causes a very bad case of GAS! :rotfl2: You have to give your 'system' time to adjust to it!
