I was just wondering if this sounds like a valid thought....if you don't take your own stroller from home with you, what do you do from hotel room to park....or what if you want to stay late at a park & your child falls asleep on the transportation....now you have to carry your child from transportation to your room, which could be faaaaaar away.....I have a 4 year old & she is quite small for her age with little legs & gets tired very quickly....we were at our local zoo recently & it made me realize how much I love our stroller....we weren't going to take it with us to WDW, but changed our minds with this last zoo trip.....what do you all think?:jester:

SooziQ,

We went to disney last August with our then 1yr old son. It was very convienient to have his own comfortable stroller. It reclined, he could take a nap in it. It worked out great. Every if you don't take a regular stroller, I would suggest just getting an umbrella stroller. What if you want to walk around your hotel? It is just very handy to have your own. Our Wal Mart sells an umbrella stroller for like $11, it would cost much more than that to rent a stroller for a week, plus the convienence of having it all the time.

I think there are more pros to bringing your own than renting.

You have it at the airport to either carry your child or some luggage etc..

You have it for the trip to the parks, at the parks, and for the trip back to the hotel.

You can bring one they are familiar with that possibly reclines...more comfy and with a big basket for your stuff.

I noticed when we were there in December, there was a HUGH line for renting strollers, no thanks.

Also, you save $7. a day.:D

We always bring our own.

Great for getting around outside the parks and at the airport, comfortable, no waiting in line to rent/return. We never find it to be a problem.

We always rent a car. Not sure how easy it is to deal with a stroller on the Disney buses.

One of the guidebooks (can't remember which one) recommends that if your child usually uses a stroller when you go to the mall or anything where you do a lot of walking, then you should take your own stroller. I think that's a pretty good rule of thumb. Folding a stroller in the bus can be a pain, but it's much better than holding a child the whole time you wait for that bus.

I think you should definitely bring your own stroller for a 4 year old. Even if she wants to walk a little, you can use it to hold your "stuff" in as long as it has a basket. I think it's better safe than sorry as long as it's easy to fold for the buses. Our oldest daugther was 5 on our last visit and we only brought one stroller (for our then 2 year old). We just rented for the 5 year old. Well, the two of them shared the stroller from the buses/monorail to our room because even the 5 year old was too tired to walk at night. We had to buy a new stroller when we got home because they bent the frame (and they are both very small for their age)!

Having the stroller outside of the parks is one of the main reasons that we bring our own.

Thank you all for your valuable opinions.....I am definately taking my own stroller.....someone said it is better to cart the stroller ON transportation than to be holding the child WAITING for transportation.....that sold me on the idea! Thanks again.....

We tried to find an umbrella stroller for my son, but he was just too tall. He was 4 years 4 months, not a big kid by any means 41 inches and only 36 pounds. He was just too big for the umbrella strollers. So we figured he could walk until he was tired and then we would rent. Now you have to understand we belong to a walking club and do a lot of 10K events. He walks for half of the walk and we have a Baby Jogger for the rest. (Too big to bring with us) We were in the Animal Kingdom for 5 minutes, on our first day (late arrival also, we entered Animal Kingdom at 4:30) and he wanted to know why all the other kids had strollers and he didn't. So the next day we rented the minute we entered the parks. He also napped in them, which saved us a trip back to the hotel for a rest, and my husband and I would grab a cup of coffee, find a quiet spot and enjoy the people walking by. Or I would shop, etc. The carriages at the parks are geared more to the bigger kids. Best money I spent.
