I live in Wisconsin and we have to be very careful when driving in the country at dusk in the fall. It's rutting season and the deer get ... well ... crazy. The driver was very, very lucky. Deer/car accidents can be very serious and people die from them every year.

It's actually not all that uncommon. I'm sure insurance agents in that area get it all the time. My parents have told me of a few people who have died from deer coming through windshields (they know everyone in their town). I hit a deer once, and it looked more like it fell from the sky and onto my hood. I can't stand driving the roads around their house.
