DH got the job transfer.

We're moving to Vero Beach next month. I can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should I get a job at the resort?

That's like a dream come true!

Suppose you could get a position at the resort, what would you like to do?

Bobbi:D

floridafam,

That is great news! Congratulations and best of luck in your new home!

I would definitely want a job at the resort!

why you'd want to leave the lovely Michigan weather! LOL

After this past winter and summer (or lack thereof) I can't blame you!

Hmmm... working at a DVC resort, yeah, I could handle that.

Congrats and have fun!!!!

I'm still in shock. DH just called me on his cell phone.

This is just GREAT!

My son's asthma is so much better in Florida and DH can train year around for his triathlons.

AND...we'll be minutes from the Vero Beach Resort and only a couple of hours from Disney World.

I've got to call our realtor and tell her to get our house listed. I'm not sticking around here a minute longer than I have to.

:sunny:  :bounce:  :earseek: ::yes:: :yo-yo:

I vote you should go for DVC sales person! You love Disney and that would show and add to your sales!! I wouldn't turn down front desk either though - it would all depend on the benefits and discounts!! Congrats!!!

Congratulations, that is so awesome! Great for your DH too. Think of all the awesome Florida Resident discounts that you will now qualify for! Maybe that position for "Goofy" is still available at VB. That would warm you up from all that cold Michigan weather. :sunny: You had better hurry and get moved. Most schools down here start the first couple of weeks in August. Congrats!

Congratulations!!! You will love it down here. We were just transferred from Dearborn, MI to Melbourne, FL (45 minutes north of Vero) the first week of June. I have lived my entire life in Michigan and it only took me one week to decide that I never want to go back. We keep pinching ourselves because it feels like one big vacation (except dh has to go to work during the week :(

Not to put a damper on the excitement but I hope the asthma works out better for your son then it has for my kids. My kids asthma was always so much better when we vacationed in Florida but we only spent 10 days maximum. When we moved, they had about 3 1/2 really good weeks and then the asthma flared up just like it was up north. That has been the only bummer of the whole move. We really hoped they would be better down here but that hasn't happened. However, if they are going to have problems either way I'd rather they have problems in the Sunshine State then in the Great White North!

About the asthma, i was thinking the same. If anything it will be worse down there due to the humidty being higher then you ever saw in Mi...

"Congratulations"..............and never look back. I will take Florda sunshine over the ice and snow up north anytime.

You DON'T have to shovel humidity!!

Lucky you! That is my dream to some day move to Florida. You are actually getting to live my dream! Good luck with everything.

Congratulations! What a terrific place to move! Please keep us posted on your progress and all your exciting transitions. :Pinkbounc

Okay, if you're the first one down there then the BBQ is AT YOUR HOUSE!!!!!!;)

Let me know if you need some websites for new homes. I've got a whole list of them!!!!!:p

Congratulations!!!!!!

Take me with you Pleeease!!!!

That is just awesome. I am from Michigan and I enjoyed my 18 years there, but I never want to return after living in the south.

The closest my boys will get to snow is the snow on Main St! (just kidding but I really have no desire to experience it ever again)

Do you think you will use your DVC more or less now?

You DON'T have to shovel humidity!!

:teeth:

I'm not expecting his asthma to go away. He is so bad when school is in session and it's cold up here.

He seems to do better in Florida because he is allergic to grass, dust mites and trees. The landscape in Florida is better for his allergies. Who knows? I'll have to make sure his Dr. can maybe recommend someone good down there.

I'm so excited. Shopping at Publix, going to Capt. Hiram's for dinner whenever we want. Dh will be working for the same company so it shouldn't be too bad for him.

anniet,

I'll light up the grill. You bring a dish to pass.

Congratulations! - Very happy for you (and a bit jealous, too). :)

Don't forget about us DIS'rs now, especially we DVC'rs!

We'll cut you some slack while you move, but I sure hope you continue to check in regularly after you get settled!

Best wishes -

Wow, we just returned from Vero and LOVED IT!!! May I ask what your husband does? I noticed you live in East Lansing (DH and I both went to Michigan State) and wondered if your DH was a professor or works on campus?? My DH is in automotive (shock) and I think we will be here until he retires, or until we win the lotto!!!! (Which we never will cause we don't play!!!) I am very happy for you, and JEALOUS!!! We were talking to George who is a greeter at Vero (very, very, very nice man) and he said he works 3 days a week greeting and talking and hugging kids and loves it! I already told DH that its what I've decided I'm going to do!! Good luck, and keep us posted!

Laura

Congratulations! You will love it here. We moved four years ago to FL from the cold and would never move back north. No way, never ever.

I have asthma and have found that I am much better living here. When the ocean breezes kick in, they blow all the bad stuff inland.

Did I read where a poster talked of a barbeque at your house. Hmmm, we can be there a few hours....
