Day 6 - Friday 5/11
We slept in today since it was our last day and a "free" day. The only thing we had planned was a 7PM ADR at Le Cellier so we just had to make it to Epcot at some point.
I wanted to shop (or window shop) so I got up and ready and headed out to DTD by myself. Neither of us are huge souvenier people, but I do love to browse, DH - not so much, so it just made sense for me to go by myself. I headed over to the bus around 10:15ish, I decided on the bus because it would drop me off at the Marketplace instead of PI like the boat. The cutest thing happened while I was waiting. I sat on the wall next to one of the benches to wait for the bus. There was a little girl, probably around 8, waiting with her family (can't remember now where they were going). She looked at me and said "What park are YOU going to?", so I told her that I wasn't going to a park right now, but that I was going shopping at DTD. Her eyes got all big and she said "By YOURSELF??!!", so I smiled and said "Yes, all by myself! My husband doesn't like to shop so I'm leaving him here and I don't have any kids yet!" That answer seemed to satisfy her, but if I could have taken a picture of the look of complete ENVY on her mother's face when I said I was going to DTD ALONE!!!
Anyway, I got to the Marketplace around 10:30. I love going that early in the day because it's not crowded. I went into the Christmas store and grabbed myself an ornament and also one for my mom and my sister, that's kind of a tradition...we buy ornaments everywhere...I'm going to need a second tree soon. I headed over to WOD and just wandered for a while. It was so nice to do this without getting "the look" from DH...and you all know "the look" I'm talking about!! I got a couple Princess pens for my friend's little girls and looked for a t I had seen in the POR gift shop that I actually liked for myself (I'm not one to WEAR Dis stuff, but I really liked this one)...but they didn't have my size in the color I wanted, and I ended up forgetting to go back and get it at POR...oh well.
It was getting to be closer to noon at this point so I called DH. He was up and about so he hopped on the boat to DTD to meet me for lunch. I walked down to the dock at PI and hung out on a chair in the sunshine and waited for him. We had already decided to eat at WPE so once he arrived we walked back over there. WPE was good as usual, but we had to ask twice for our food and then mine was cold so I had to bring it back up, not sure what happened there.
I had promised DH another trip to DQ so we headed back over there. It was a LOT more crowded than it had been the other day so we just walked around, played a couple video games, and headed out, I don't even think we were in there for 1/2 hour!!
We took the boat back to POR and relaxed for a while...packed up a little and hung out by the pool. At 4:30 we grabbed a bus to Epcot. First up we HAD to do Spaceship Earth...it's one of my favorites and it had been closed when we were there earlier in the week. After our journey we headed towards the times board to check things out...it was an EMH night so it was pretty packed. The wait for Soarin' was listed at 70 min so we headed that way to try to get an FP for later, but they were all out. I do like that they put a sign up at the bottom of the hill to get into the building, saves a lot of time!!
It was about 5:30 at this point and we had an ADR at 7 so we decided to just head over to WS and get a couple pints at the R&C. Also, we love the British Invasion and they had a show in a little bit! We grabbed our pints and pulled up some curb and waited.
That's DH's "I'm drinking Guiness and waiting" face!
And we watched the show...fabulous as always!! (We're HUGE Beatles fans...our first dance at our wedding was a Beatles song, as was my dance with my Dad)
After the show we still had some time to kill before our ADR....so we went back to R&C for a couple more pints!! This time we hung out at the bar and drank most of it and just people watched. Around 6:35 we grabbed "roadies" (or plastic to go cups for you non pint drinkers) and headed over to Canada. We checked in at 6:40 and were told to just "stay close" and they would call us when the table was ready.
This is what happens when you wait after 2 pints on an empty stomach.
LOL
Here are a couple more -
After our little photo shoot, we got called to our table at 6:55. We were REALLY excited to eat here and were NOT disappointed. The food was awesome, our server was great, and the atmosphere was nice. The tables WERE close together, but our favorite restaurant at home is actually set up just like that, so it didn't bother us. Here's some perspective though...when the couple next to us left, we put our camera on their bread basket thingy and took this pic of ourselves at our table -
After dinner we rolled ourselves over to the IG and got our EMH bracelets. It was a little after 8 so WS was starting to REALLY fill up with people waiting for Illuminations. We looked around a bit and decided that it was time to get a spot. There were NO front row seats left in this part of WS, but we were too full to travel too far, so we sat against the little fenced in garden area directly across from where Off Kilter plays. We sat down on the ground for a bit, then I went to R&C for a couple more pints (LOL). This ended up being a great spot...we were right up against the fence so no one was right in front of us, and the people on the other side of the fence right up against the lagoon were far enought away that we could see over them!!!
Once Illuminations was done we sat on a bench and people watched for a while. There was the typical mad squeeze out towards FW, but because it was EMH a lot of people lingered in WS. After a little while we walked towards France and just poked around in all the countries. Everything looked so pretty all lit up everywhere!!! We took our time and then decided we were beat, so we just kept going out towards the exit. We stopped and did SE one more time, I can't wait to see what they do with this ride!!
We got a bus without much of a wait (I think they filled one bus that we didn't make it on and there was another one 5-10 min later) and headed back to POR. We stopped at the River Roost for one more cocktail
and then headed back to the room to finish packing and crash.
It was a great way to end the week...Epcot is my favorite park and Le Cellier was the best meal we had all week!!
Up next - quick wrap up of our last morning and some final thoughts.
