Oh my GOODNESS...WE'RE BACK!!!! (the end up 6/24)

I got us an ice cream and we shared it while we were watching Wishes, literally from the middle of it!! It was really cool! Granted, you miss the whole "look how cool the fireworks behind the castle" thing is, and you can't see Tink fly, but it's totally worth it to not be standing on top of the person next to you!

We got squished in with the "Main Street Wishes crowd" only once, on our first newbie visit, then never again!

It's so much more pleasant the way you did it!!

Aaahh, SpectroMagic... My favorite, too!

I promise to have this TR done in the next few days...I want to do my dining report so I can finally toss all those receipts!!

I'm waiting... popcorn:: I hear you about the receipts. I have just another 24 hours or so to report on, and it's probably time to put the receipts, notes, and general mess away! :)

Thanks for sticking around, finishing up today!!

Day 6 - Friday 5/11

We slept in today since it was our last day and a "free" day. The only thing we had planned was a 7PM ADR at Le Cellier so we just had to make it to Epcot at some point.

I wanted to shop (or window shop) so I got up and ready and headed out to DTD by myself. Neither of us are huge souvenier people, but I do love to browse, DH - not so much, so it just made sense for me to go by myself. I headed over to the bus around 10:15ish, I decided on the bus because it would drop me off at the Marketplace instead of PI like the boat. The cutest thing happened while I was waiting. I sat on the wall next to one of the benches to wait for the bus. There was a little girl, probably around 8, waiting with her family (can't remember now where they were going). She looked at me and said "What park are YOU going to?", so I told her that I wasn't going to a park right now, but that I was going shopping at DTD. Her eyes got all big and she said "By YOURSELF??!!", so I smiled and said "Yes, all by myself! My husband doesn't like to shop so I'm leaving him here and I don't have any kids yet!" That answer seemed to satisfy her, but if I could have taken a picture of the look of complete ENVY on her mother's face when I said I was going to DTD ALONE!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Anyway, I got to the Marketplace around 10:30. I love going that early in the day because it's not crowded. I went into the Christmas store and grabbed myself an ornament and also one for my mom and my sister, that's kind of a tradition...we buy ornaments everywhere...I'm going to need a second tree soon. I headed over to WOD and just wandered for a while. It was so nice to do this without getting "the look" from DH...and you all know "the look" I'm talking about!! I got a couple Princess pens for my friend's little girls and looked for a t I had seen in the POR gift shop that I actually liked for myself (I'm not one to WEAR Dis stuff, but I really liked this one)...but they didn't have my size in the color I wanted, and I ended up forgetting to go back and get it at POR...oh well.

It was getting to be closer to noon at this point so I called DH. He was up and about so he hopped on the boat to DTD to meet me for lunch. I walked down to the dock at PI and hung out on a chair in the sunshine and waited for him. We had already decided to eat at WPE so once he arrived we walked back over there. WPE was good as usual, but we had to ask twice for our food and then mine was cold so I had to bring it back up, not sure what happened there.

I had promised DH another trip to DQ so we headed back over there. It was a LOT more crowded than it had been the other day so we just walked around, played a couple video games, and headed out, I don't even think we were in there for 1/2 hour!!

We took the boat back to POR and relaxed for a while...packed up a little and hung out by the pool. At 4:30 we grabbed a bus to Epcot. First up we HAD to do Spaceship Earth...it's one of my favorites and it had been closed when we were there earlier in the week. After our journey we headed towards the times board to check things out...it was an EMH night so it was pretty packed. The wait for Soarin' was listed at 70 min so we headed that way to try to get an FP for later, but they were all out. I do like that they put a sign up at the bottom of the hill to get into the building, saves a lot of time!!

It was about 5:30 at this point and we had an ADR at 7 so we decided to just head over to WS and get a couple pints at the R&C. Also, we love the British Invasion and they had a show in a little bit! We grabbed our pints and pulled up some curb and waited.

That's DH's "I'm drinking Guiness and waiting" face!

And we watched the show...fabulous as always!! (We're HUGE Beatles fans...our first dance at our wedding was a Beatles song, as was my dance with my Dad)

After the show we still had some time to kill before our ADR....so we went back to R&C for a couple more pints!! This time we hung out at the bar and drank most of it and just people watched. Around 6:35 we grabbed "roadies" (or plastic to go cups for you non pint drinkers) and headed over to Canada. We checked in at 6:40 and were told to just "stay close" and they would call us when the table was ready.

This is what happens when you wait after 2 pints on an empty stomach.

After our little photo shoot, we got called to our table at 6:55. We were REALLY excited to eat here and were NOT disappointed. The food was awesome, our server was great, and the atmosphere was nice. The tables WERE close together, but our favorite restaurant at home is actually set up just like that, so it didn't bother us. Here's some perspective though...when the couple next to us left, we put our camera on their bread basket thingy and took this pic of ourselves at our table -

After dinner we rolled ourselves over to the IG and got our EMH bracelets. It was a little after 8 so WS was starting to REALLY fill up with people waiting for Illuminations. We looked around a bit and decided that it was time to get a spot. There were NO front row seats left in this part of WS, but we were too full to travel too far, so we sat against the little fenced in garden area directly across from where Off Kilter plays. We sat down on the ground for a bit, then I went to R&C for a couple more pints (LOL). This ended up being a great spot...we were right up against the fence so no one was right in front of us, and the people on the other side of the fence right up against the lagoon were far enought away that we could see over them!!!

Once Illuminations was done we sat on a bench and people watched for a while. There was the typical mad squeeze out towards FW, but because it was EMH a lot of people lingered in WS. After a little while we walked towards France and just poked around in all the countries. Everything looked so pretty all lit up everywhere!!! We took our time and then decided we were beat, so we just kept going out towards the exit. We stopped and did SE one more time, I can't wait to see what they do with this ride!!

We got a bus without much of a wait (I think they filled one bus that we didn't make it on and there was another one 5-10 min later) and headed back to POR. We stopped at the River Roost for one more cocktail

and then headed back to the room to finish packing and crash. :sad1:

It was a great way to end the week...Epcot is my favorite park and Le Cellier was the best meal we had all week!!

Up next - quick wrap up of our last morning and some final thoughts.

That sounds like a perfect day! (BTW, I practically AM the mom who envied your alone time! :))

We were at Epcot on an EMH night, too, and I couldn't get over the crowds. Sorry you didn't get to do Soarin'...

I'm also a little envious of your pints! We had some dinner drinks at Epcot, but didn't get to just sit and enjoy. ;)

Oh my goodness!!

I'm feeling a bit tipsy after reading that last chapter! :drinking1

Glad you had a wonderful evening!

It really was wonderful, it was a great way to end the trip!

Last day - Saturday, May 12th

We had a flight out of MCO at 11ish so our ME bus was scheduled for 9AM. We were up and out of the room before 8. We wanted to check our bags at POR and grab breakfast before getting on the bus. The airline check in desk had a HUGE line so it's a good thing we left the room when we did! It took about 1/2 hour to make it through the line!!! It's still worth doing though...it was so nice to just have our carry on with us in the food court and on the bus, and we already had our boarding passes so as soon as we got to the airport we could go right through security.

We used the rest of our snack credits and then walked around POR a little and took some last pics and then headed to the ME bus. We waited a few minutes and the bus was there right at 9. This bus only went to POR, it was full!! We arrived at the airport with plenty of time and had an uneventful wait and uneventful trip home.

Final thoughts -

We had a GREAT time. This was DH and my first trip just the 2 of us and it couldn't have been better. He's NOT a Disney fan and only went because he knew how much I wanted to, but he had a much better time than he expected to...and that was by his own admission! We're hoping the next time we go will be with kids, so this was a great adults only trip. I planned our days in the hopes that I was picking the least crowded parks, and before we left I promised myself that I would slow down and enjoy everything, and if we missed something, that was ok, we'd be back, and if DH didn't want to do something, or wanted to leave a park earlier than planned, that was ok, too, it was his vacation, too. I'm proud to say that I stuck to it!! I even ALMOST cancelled an ADR and changed one night's plans completely!! (we were both tired the night of MGM so I have DH the option of skipping 50's and eating at POR or DTD instead, we didn't and ended up having a great night at Jellyroll's after 50's!)

We didn't make it on Splash or the Jungle Cruise, we didn't see Fantasmic or the Little Mermaid, I only got my picture taken with one character, I only saw one parade, and I still haven't seen the movies in WS in over 10 years...but it's ok. I can see those things the next time. I did get to eat at some great restaurants, stay in a great resort, do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted, and just enjoy being with DH away from the stresses of work and homeownership and everyday life, and I wouldn't trade that for the world, even DISNEYWORLD!!!

That sounds like such a great thing for both of you. You certainly had the right attitude about things, and the whole trip just seemed to go well! Thanks for writing and sharing! :goodvibes
