DH couldn't figure out what the awful smell was in our Subaru. He tried to say it was me leaving food in there, but I hadn't been in the car in months, since we bought the van in May!

So I did a little investigating, and the bag for DD's carseat was absolutely *soaked* with cat pee. We don't even have a cat! Apparently a few times DH would leave the car windows open... yuck.

Ouch. How are you going to get the smell out?

I'd say it's done-for! You can never get the smell out!!

Early this summer our neighbor had a horrendous smell coming from their shed. We discussed how maybe a stray cat might have died in it, the smell was SOOO bad, it actually made me nauseous.
Well, they finally cleaned it out and one of the plastic totes way in the back was turning brown. What happened was last Christmas they bought a ham and a turkey but didn't have room in their freezer. Since it is very cold here in December, they just stuck it in the tote and out in the shed....and forgot about it.:confused3

I'm not sure how DH didn't find the source of the smell.. all you had to do was open the hatch! I think I almost fell over.

Thank goodness we have a rubber mat in the back/trunk area. What a MESS!! EW!!

Throw it away. Do not spend time trying to get the smell out...it's not worth it. Double bag it.

And just what did they eat for Christmas dinner? Spam?:rotfl2:

Lovely. Gotta love people letting their cats roam to do as they will.

OMG!! That had to STINK!

Sorry but the fact he blamed you made me laugh, my dh would do the exact same thing LOL. I'd toss the car seat and buy a lot of febreeze. Arm and hammer might help too...I'd say you should leave the windows open but I guess that's how it happened in the first place.

oh yuck, cat pee is a gross smell!!

over the summer a horrendous smell was coming from my car. hubby blamed me or the kids claiming we must have left food in there somewhere. I knew we had not.
so anyway, I tell him to tear open the back end ( suv) where the spare tire is.
and sure enough, a field mouse had gotten in and died, and was rotting away back there.

Yeah, who knows. That's what happens when you have so much stuff! They should be be on Hoarders!
I notice if I can't find a package of bacon!

So, Mrs. Charming, what did you do about the smell??:headache:

Nothing yet. DH drove home from work and didn't complain so I'm guessing it must be better. He took all the 'contaminated' items out and tossed them. I don't know what he did with the rubber mat, though. We can bleach the heck out of it though, so I'm not too worried!

I had a heck of a night so I didn't touch the Subaru with a 10 foot pole! It's "his" car so I don't bother with it too much, lol

LOL we need cat repellant for it! It's sad, I'm usually a cat lover... but ugh, I can't deal with cat pee of a cat I don't even know!

Thankfully the bag was just the bag, no carseat inside. I'd have been REALLY upset!

Oh eeeeeeeew! LOL I love how the DH's are so quick to blame us. :sad2:

Last winter I came home from work and there was a horrible smell by the cellar door. I opened the door and went down and I could not figure out what it was, it smelled like cat pee. But how could a cat get in the basement? It turned out a cat pee'd in the window well of the window that's in the room under the front porch. There had been some leaves accumulated in there. The smell went through the window vent (which was closed). I got some plastic gloves and cleared the leaves out and it helped get most of the smell out.

Try Simple Green Pet & Stain Remover - Cat. We had a problem with one of our cats peeing on things and found this to be the only solution to getting the smell out. It even got a stain that nothing else would remove. It is sold at Petsmart.

:lmao:, that sounds just like my husband........:rolleyes1

I was moving from the house to my new condo this summer when it was really, really hot.

I had a bag of pecans sitting on the floor. I'd just about decided that they must be roasted from the heat. They one day I looked closer and noticed a package of BACON under the pecans.

That vacuum packed sealing really works as I couldn't smell a thing. But both the bacon and the pecans went directly to the trash.

Our daughter is 3, well 3 and 3 months.

A few months ago, we noticed a sour milk smell in our SUV. We own a Dodge Journey and the cargo area has a few inches of storage underneath the "floor" of the cargo area (great romm for our Disney trips). Near the back seat, the cargo area has a drop off, which we have never noticed......

until the smell.

We got around to seeking out the source and totally went over that vehicle to find out what it was.

Under the drop off of the cargo area, near the back seats, one of DD's old baby bottles -- half filled and turning a lovley shades of black and green -- had rolled and gotten wedged under that drop off. She quite using the bottle when she was 22 months (yes, we were late in getting her off the bottle -- however she only had 2 at that time -- one on the ride home from daycare and another before bed.)
