Oh Come All Ye Faithful... DIS TR Addicts... UPDATE 4/19

As I finish up this itinerary it occurs to me how much less organized I am than I was for the October trip. But I think that may be ok. It leaves room for serendipity. (Which is also my very favorite word, if you were wondering. :) ).

So on this last day my flight is leaving ~5pm so I'll expect Magical Express around 3pm. That leaves plenty of time for adventure.

Thanks to a suggestion from Lady Lallie, I'm thinking Spoodles for breakfast and then checking out the decorations at Yacht & Beach Club and Boardwalk. Then head into my favorite place World Showcase. Maybe some more shopping. More storytellers. Then maybe hop the monorail to see the other monorail resorts in their holiday glory.

That's the plan as of now.

I see that the Travel Channel is repeating the holiday special w/ Samanta Brown this week. Can't wait to see it knowing that I'll actually be there in person! I still can't quite believe it.

And speaking of not believing it, the people in my real life definitely cannot believe it. Lots of comments about weren't you just there, again?, really?, why would you go again? etc. :headache: I don't want to hide where I'm going but I don't want to keep explaining myself either. ARGH. Why can't the world be full of DISers. :goodvibes

Why CAN'T the world be full of DISers? I totally understand. People are totally confused about why I'm STILL listening to Disney podcasts even though my trip was LAST month. I just love all things Disney! Get over it folks!

Like the last day itinerary- sounds heavenly. Have the Sam Brown special tivo'd.

And I too, love "Serendipity". There's a big old victorian house that was for sale a couple years ago- HUGE yard surrounded by trees so you couldn't see in. One morning, I parked, and went wandering into the backyard and was enchanted. It was so enclosed and beautiful. A pond, nooks, crannies, a garden shed. In through the windows I peeked original woodwork, an ancient original kitchen, a beautiful verandah that revealed through it's iron windows an old wood paneled library w/floor to ceiling shelves. I could see into the foyer with it's spiral staircase. Just gorgeous. I called the house, "Serendipity". Someone bought it shortly after and has been transforming it into it's former glory. It'll always be "Serendipity" to me.

(sorry to hijack but I love that word too and felt the need to share! :goodvibes )

Anyway- great plans:goodvibes !

I run into the same thing! I have now gotten bolder and asked people who comment "What is the difference with me going to Disney from people who have houses on the cape and go there all the time?" That tends to confuse them especially when they have to agree that it is the same.

Another serendipity lover. I love it! :goodvibes I hope that you'll be able to get a tour of the house once it has been restored. It sounds lovely.

I wish the world were full of DIS'ers but at least we have eachother online!

You are getting bold. There are a lot of repeat vacation destinations people don't bat an eyelash at but for some reason Disney isn't one of them (especially if you don't have kids). Those people are missing out!! Another reason to be thankful for the DIS. We have eachother!! :)

You're in a last day kind of mood today on both your PTR and TR! Your last day full immersion in the glory of a decorated WDW sounds heavenly!

I agree with you about having to explain to people about your trips to Disney -- I didn't even want to tell people about our spring break trip this past April because I didn't want to put up with the eye rolling. :goodvibes

Maybe people have gotten used to us going so much! We don't get as many comments. (They are probably talking about us behind our backs.:rotfl: ) Our toughest critic, however, was my mother. She insisted that we were giving the children narrow view of the world, that we need to show them other things. But I would argue that we have seen so much and meet so many different kinds of people at WDW and we always know we are going to have good time. She still fusses a bit, but I think I'm wearing her down. She IS coming to keep the children the children for our Dec. trip after all.
Keep the faith, baby! You always have us DISers! We understand you!

The other comment I get is "Why don't you go somewhere else?". This comment usually comes as the person is sitting in my office, watching my digital photo frame and seeing pictures of Yellowstone, Italy, etc. :confused3 Sometimes I just don't understand people.

I hadn't thought about it that way but I suppose I am in a last day kind of mood! I am so looking forward to all of the decorations, I can't tell you. I hope my cameras can take it!

Thanks! I tried to tell my parents about the DIS this Thanksgiving. I found an online Disney community and made friends with a lot of the people there... you would have thought I was speaking another language! :rotfl:

Everyone else is just missing out! I would love to get a digital photo frame for all my Disney pictures. Hmm... maybe Santa is listening??? :santa:

I like the laid-back last day plans!!! I always think I should take a later flight home and enjoy WDW a bit before I go home...but I never do. I have a hard time making myself leave when they are shutting off the lights:rotfl:

I haven't said anything to anyone except my DISser friends about my Feb trip... well you guys and DH and kids.:sad2: People just don't get it! Like PP said about the homes on the Cape... most of my co-workers and family take the same vacay year after year. But I'm sure they don't have nearly as much fun as WE DO!!!:thumbsup2

Life is too short to NOT do something that makes you happy. I could avoid going to WDW because those other people don't get it, and know I'm missing out...or I can just ignore them and have fun. Choose the latter!!!!

Paula

Well said, my friend! WDW and my DIS friends do make me happy so I'm going to stick with you! :goodvibes

But I do wish I could come up with the perfect comeback to the inevitable reactions I get to another trip to WDW! Oh well... perhaps I'll perfect the comebacks as I continue to take more trips! :)

Nothing says DIS'er like obsessively watching the extended weather forecast.

It's looking pretty good but I know it will change a million times between now and when I get there. I have no idea what to pack. Do I bring a bathing suit? Do I need a jacket and gloves? Do I need to bring my rain poncho? The unpredictability is killing me. I know... great problem to have. But space is at a premium. Have any of you been to the World in Dec? What did you experience weather-wise?

I am having the same debate. I think that I will take a bathing suit just in case. I will have 2 jackets. The heavier one that I will wear down since it is cold up here in NH and a lighter one in my suitcase. I am still debating if I should take any shorts. I will be taking 2 pairs of convertible pants so they will help if it gets warm.

I would post this question on the theme parks and attractions board. These types of questions are very common and lots of people will give you input.

It looks beautiful to me! Gosh I wish I were going too!

Isn't it? Makes you think about an AP? You've got two trips planned afterall... have you thought about it?
Thinking about an AP overwhelms me. Secretly I want to get an AP for our December trip so then I have an excuse to go again in 2010. How's that for being a crafty, sneaky LL? :lmao:

I thought I quoted your update but I didn't. Whoops. We haven't told my Mom & or the Inlaws about our May trip. They know we are going next December, or at least my Mom & Dad do. We get a lot of eye rolling, apparently BIL gave Marc a hard time about my fabu countdown calendar. I wasn't home at the time so I couldn't smack him. :rotfl2: People just don't get it. I can try a variety of different things, Hello My True Love Polenta and have a great time. We HATED our cruise. Hated it. Now I think we just had bad luck but still. I know we will have a great time at Disney. We also get a lot carp about how we don't own a home so how can we go on all of these vacations. We are in no position and do not have the desire to be home owners right now. I hate how people sometimes judge you just because you make different choices than they do. Balderdash I say. Balderdash. :snooty:

We get that too, LL. And though we're gonna go for it in '09, we haven't been in a position before now either, and I hate that people get any opinions at all about that kind of thing! To each their own and it's nobody's business, right?

In MY perfect world, we'd live in a tiny apartment beneath our means and take fabulous vacations 2-3 times a year! Life is for living after all! ::yes::

Amen to that! I would much rather live below our means and be able to vacation more frequently! :goodvibes

2 trips in 8 months... probably cheaper to get the AP anyway.... and then maybe we can all go for a girls trip in march/April for Flower and Garden:rolleyes1 I'm just saying.....

DH and I were married 10 years and already had all 3 kids before we bought our 1st home. We used to hear all the same carp as you do. We COULD have bought sooner.... but neither Tom or I were ready to SETTLE down in one place...indefinately, for a long time. But eventually the kids got bigger, so school became an issue, so we buckled. I'm glad we waited though, cause we were able to buy what we wanted/needed... when we were 1st married, we had NO IDEA what we were doing:rotfl2: Besides... I thought it was easier to vacation before I bought our home.... someone else had to pay for the new roof, the driveway, they mowed the grass......:thumbsup2

I totally agree! More and more I look around my house and I see how much STUFF we have. I am to the point where I am tired of THINGS and want more experiences.

I asked for a Disney gift card from my parents for Christmas because I don't want anymore stuff. The next trip is probably over a year away but I'll just start saving now and when I have enough and a great deal comes along, I'll be able to jump at it. DH was asking when we are going. WHAT? You are getting more stuff for Christmas and I have to spend my gift money on you? He doesn't know my plans for the next trip don't include him. Is that wrong? He just doesn't get my Dis obsession so why not go without him?

Ahhhh, a girls trip. Oh, how I covet thee! Marc gets this mopey, sad look on his face everytime I mention one. Jerk. :lmao: I guess I really have to do some figuring on this whole AP thingy.

I am in no way ready to settle and buy a house. I love the fact that I don't have to pay for repairs. I also like the security because Marc works overnight. I would freak in a house all by myself. I just know I would. I am sure I might get there someday but for now I am good with my apartment. :thumbsup2

Well, I used this quandry as an excuse to make a purchase! I just ordered a fleece plus gloves and ear warmers from Lands End. I have a lot of "it's really cold out" attire but not so much on the inbetween. Eh...who am I kidding. I wanted something new! ;)

I would post this question on the theme parks and attractions board. These types of questions are very common and lots of people will give you input.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will go check that board out. Although I'm a little nervous about finding another area of the DIS to check obsessively! I spend enough time on here as it is! Well I wish you were going too! If I didn't have to pack so many wardrobe options for every possible temperature between 30 and 85 I'd offer to sneak you in the suitcase!

I like crafty, sneaky LL! :thumbsup2 I waited for quite a while to tell people about my December trip too! You guys knew about it as soon as it was a thought in my head but everyone else? Not so much. I say balderdash too! And a few other words that aren't so DIS-friendly. ;) As for home ownership, I do have a house but that was more driven from a desire not to share walls with neighbors and have a yard for my dog. I definitely miss the days when repairs were someone else's concern!!

What is it about people offering their negative opinions on stuff like this? :confused3 I don't get it. Yeah for going for it in 2009. Can't wait to hear more about the plans. Yes, life is for living and vacations (especially Disney vacations) make the most excellent memories!

Amen to that! I would much rather live below our means and be able to vacation more frequently! :goodvibes

Well, I'm still holding out for a VERY wealthy Prince Charming who can give me the best of both worlds. But if I have to choose, I suppose I'll choose vacation!

Paula, I like the way you think putting that girls trip out there. Sounds good to me! And F&G is such a pretty time to visit. And I'm definitely with you on the headaches of homeownership. It took me a long time to get over the fact that I no longer had a maintenance # to call when things went wrong!

I totally agree! More and more I look around my house and I see how much STUFF we have. I am to the point where I am tired of THINGS and want more experiences.

I asked for a Disney gift card from my parents for Christmas because I don't want anymore stuff. We are on the same wavelength. I've been thinking about all my STUFF lately too. Do you ever watch Oprah? There's a clutter expert on there- Peter something- and he talks about how we mistakenly attach value to the stuff. I am ready to get rid of some stuff and am trying to be more conscious about what I bring into the house (although you won't know it from my souvenir post coming up on my other TR! )

I had to chuckle a bit that DH doesn't know that your plans don't include him. But no, that's not wrong. If he doesn't get it and won't appreciate it like you will there is nothing wrong with a solo trip or the aforementioned girls trip. :rolleyes1

A girls trip does sound good. Maybe Marc can find some friends to do a boys trip with? Or you can both go but just go your separate ways during the day so you can have best of both worlds? Or Marc can be an honorary girl (I bet he'll like that one!)

Being good with what you have is what it's all about!!
