When do you put up and /or take down your Christmas decorations?

We put up everything after DS's b-day on Dec. 14 so as not to distract from his special day. And I take it down the day after Christmas!! Can't wait to get my house back to normal!

We decorate our tree usually the day or two after Thanksgiving, and everything gets put away the day after Christmas!

The weekend after Thanksgiving and stays up till the day after New years

decorations go up Dec.1-2 (takes that long).
Tree goes up on the second weekend.
Everything comes down Jan. 1.

we usually put it up the thanksgiving weekend, and we have been known to take it down christmas night! Usually its the day after christmas!

Ours goes up early the second week of Dec and comes down Jan 1st

Before anyone asks. I'm the only practicer of Judaism in the house.I don't deny the rest of the house their holidays

I decorate Dec. 1st and take down Jan. 2nd The tree goes up 2 weeks before Christmas, as we get a real one.

:flower: Well I havent put up a tree in a few years because I live in this tiny little studio apartment and there just is no room....
Besides my Mom puts up her tree the day after Halloween and it stays up until the day after Christmas.....
We have a tree in every room including the bathrooms!
My Mom is totally nuts for Christmas!! :Pinkbounc
We love her despite he fanatical behavior though!!!!! :love2:

We usually put ours up about the second week of December. It better wait until after December 17 (or at least until after I come home after finals) this year. I'm not a huge fan of decorating the tree, but there are some ornaments that I like to put up there and have them in certain places. It usually comes down by New Years, because we get a real tree, and once it's been up a few weeks it really becomes a fire hazard.

We usually decorate and put the trees up on the first weekend of December and then take everything down New Years Day. :sunny:

We decorate the outside of our house with lights and garland etc.and turn on the lights on Nov 27th each year as that's our wedding anniversary and it's kind of become a tradition with us.

We usually get our tree about 2 weeks before Christmas, we get a real tree. It usually comes down over New Year's. I start decorating the house the first week in December though.

I am hoping we can do the outside lights this weekend, the weather is supposed to be nice and it is so much easier to do it early than to wait and do it with snow on the roof. The problem then is getting the family to wait until after Thanksgiving to turn them on.

The tree and all the inside decorations always go up Thanksgiving weekend. We used to do it on Sunday, but there is so much that we start on Saturday now and finish on Sunday.

We don't have a set day to take things down, but always try and have it done before the 3rd or 4th of January.

I love Christmas decorations :goodvibes . We decprate Thanksgiving weekend and take them down after New Years.

We always have a live tree, too. We put up around Thanksgiving weekend and take down New Year's Day! Love to have it around as long as possible.

We usually put everything out either Thanksgiving day or the day after, and everything gets pulled down the day after Christmas (or in some years, during pregnancy hormonal rages, everything's come down Christmas Day :rotfl: ).

We used to wait 'til after our older son's birthday (Dec. 12) to decorate for Christmas. But as he got older (teen years) we started decorating earlier. I now like to put up the tree Thanksgiving weekend. And since our sons are grown and out of the house, we try to snag them to put up the Christmas lights the day after Thanksgiving - while we have them here!

And what's with decorating for Christmas BEFORE Halloween - even before Thanksgivng seems very odd to me!! Why not just enjoy each holiday. Doesn't having Christmas decorations up for Thanksgivng take away from Thanksgiving?

The past few years, we've put everything up Thanksgiving weekend, and taken it down New Years Day. But, usually by then, I'm SO sick of it, and just want my house back. I think, this year, I'll wait a week or so before putting it all up. Luckily, my oldest is only 5, so he won't know that it's later than usual. :flower:
