Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

If I can, then I try to get it on Thanksgiving Day. If not, then a day or two after Thanksgiving.

Starting the day after Thanksgiving we put up our tree. Then my dad turns into Clark Griswald with the Christmas decorations, although I find it amusing when there are a dozen people or more just staring at our house at night.

My b-day is December 8, so we usually have birthday dinner/presents and decorate the tree all on the same night. I love it!

I usually take mine down the first free moment after New Years Day.

We ususally put up the tree late in December. Goes back to our tradition when I was a kid, the tree never went up until Christmas eve, or a few days before that. Then we kept it up until 12th night, that is, January 6th.

We always had a live tree, until a few years ago, now we put it up a bit sooner, but usually after DD's birthday on the 10th.

We usually put up the tree and decorate the day after Thanksgiving. Usually my sister and I will head out at 5:00 a.m. shopping, then when I get home I will decorate with my DH and DD, by 2:00 I am ready for a nap. Also we take everything down by Jan 2.

Starting the week of thanksgiving, the house becomes Christmas central. Usually first up is my holiday beanie babies and nutcrackers, since they go on the hearth. After that goes down the sheet of plywood in front of the hearth and covered with a bed sheet. Then I spend 2 days putting out my houses collection, yes it takes that long. That usually leads me to Thanksgiving when I drag in the rest of the boxes from the shed and get things organized. The day after thanksgiving AFTER the sales I put the tables together. Tables mean, I decorate everything that doesn't move in the house lol Then once I get that all done, up goes the tree.

I usually start right after Thanksgiving, I decorate every room. Everything comes down on my first day off after the first except the tree it stays up until the 6th.

We put up a village also, well my DH does, and it takes about 5 days. Right now we have a Chicago Bears village up

Tree is real and goes up about 2 weeks before Christmas and comes down some time between the 26th and New Years day depending on which day of the week everything falls on. This year I'm putting up a small disney tree, which I'm hoping to have up right after Thanksgiving!!!

I will start putting my Christmas decorations up Nov. 1st. They will stay up until New Years (but it takes at least a week to get everything down).

I do make Thanksgiving special as well. My dining room keeps all the Thanksgiving stuff until its over. Then I decorate the dining room for Christmas. I use jewel tone things for Thanksgiving, so it actually goes with my Christmas things as well.

We are currently in the process of rebuilding our porches (just finished new roof) so I don't know when or if I'll get to do my outside decorating. But at least I have my home. I'm so glad to have finally gotten back in it that I'll probably go crazy this year!!!!!

EARLY! lol This year they will go up on the weekend of Nov 12th. They will come down right after New Years.

I am a Christmas NUT! I go crazy! I wish I had more outside stuff to put up with all my inside things. SOOOO many things I want..lol I am so excited.

OK QUESTION!!!!!

DO you have a style for your Christmas tree? Do you break it for your kids?

We do a tree in Burgundy and Gold..along with old looking toysm snowbabies and glass things. It is such a pretty tree... well... this year Ethan is more into it and we just placed an order for 5 boxes of Disney Storybook ornaments.. These are going to be colorful and I love them but am so worried they are going to totally ruin the style of my tree and it will not look good. What do you guys do in this situation? :confused3

I know, I need to not be so picky right?? :rotfl:

We have already said next year it will be all for Ethan so I kinda know this is my last year for a while to do a tree totally my style. Next year will be color lights, lots of colorful ornaments etc.. :goodvibes

Tree is usually bought around Dec 6th and kept up until New Years

and I MUST say I LOVE this tread!

I am just so crazy over Christmas comming up! :teeth: :cool1:

Amanda...Just put up another tree!!!! :rotfl2:

Seriously, that's what I do. I've had as many as 5, but this year I think there will only be 2 (I gave some of my "extras" to people I knew that had lost their decorations).

I love trees. I can think of a million ways to decorate them!!!!!

Oh trust me, I have been thinking about that. Just not sure yet where to put another one. It is packed around here. I do have a cute Classic Pooh table top tree that friend got at Target and gave me last year. I need to try adn set it up but I doubt it will hold many ornaments.

:rotfl: The last year my tree had style was 1986! Since then it has been a collaboration of Santa Claus, Mary & Joseph, silver icicles (in clumps), nasty cherry candy canes, and various toys the kids stuff into the branches. The kids,19,12,&10,are totally in charge of the decorating now so eclectic is the word. But they love it and I know that sooner than i want, I will have my white lights & angels tree all to myself.

If you're driving along and you see a house with a tree decked out in tin foil, that would be mine :rotfl:

It's a family tradition, our's goes up the weekend after Thanksgiving, and comes down a few days after Christmas. Usually after my Dad's birthday (the 28th).

Tree goes up the first Saturday in December (we cut our own) and comes down the weekend after Christmas.

Both our DD's have a small tree in their bedrooms that they decorated.

I decorate my home the day after Thanksgiving. I can't wait!!

Shut up! :rotfl: Seriously, don't you get sick of it?! :confused3

Not us. May put the first tree up this weekend. Love the holiday and all the decorations. I guess having a big house does help. We get all of our shopping done before Thanksgiving and then sit back and enjoy the holidays.

I started putting up our tree the weekend before Thanksgiving last year and will continue to do so. It was so festive and nice to have Thanksgiving dinner amid the holiday decorations. I loved it! We have everything on our tree. I do not like themed trees at all! Our tree has Hallmark, Disney, homemade, child made, and everything else on our tree and it is always beautiful! We take our tree down the weekend after New Years. I saw we, but it is really me that does all the decorating.
