Oh Amazon How do I love thee?

If Amazon could run our government, think of how efficient things would be! I love Amazon!

This!

Love amazon prime. Have not gotten a lot of lightning deals this year, but I have found a lot of items at lower prices than elsewhere, with a larger selection on some types of items.

I usually receive items via UPS. Today I received something I ordered at midnight on Thursday via FedEx. The only disappointment is that I now have to pay sales tax :-(

Love the FREE prime for 30 days right here at Christmas. DH was watching football so I decided to try the free prime movie online service and loved it. Since then I have watch two more movies. I ordered my Nieces Xmas presents and they arrived 36 hours after I ordered them.

LOL, you sound like my son!!:lmao:

He became an Amazon Student member last month and he LOOOOVES Amazon now!! He loves how quickly he receives his merchandise and is VERY happy with the customer service. He contacts them 24 hours a day (he keeps STRANGE hours) and loves how they treat him. He has a small at home business and needs supplies and he loves how efficient they are.

And my kid is the most ANAL neurotic consumer EVER... they must walk on water!! :rotfl2:

I love Amazon. I buy all my random household stuff on there in between monthly trips to Target (it's a bit of a trek from my apartment), as well as certain dry grocery items that are cheaper than the local supermarket anyway.

A box came today with Twinings tea K-cups, Brita water filter refills, a new surge protector, a box of ant/roach traps, and a pack of rechargeable AA batteries. It came by USPS, right on time for the Prime shipping estimate.

I do keep a list of prices for stuff I buy regularly on Amazon though, so I can keep up with price changes in comparison to local availability.

I need to keep better lists, but I agree. Amazon and think geek have pretty much kept me out of the stores for Christmas!

In a nutshell, Prime is where you pay a yearly fee (I want to say it's $79) and get free 2-day shipping on many items (but not all of them).

There are other perks too - it includes streaming of certain TV shows and movies, and if you own a Kindle device you can 'borrow' e-books from their digital lending library at no additional charge.

I have ordered a lot from Amazon this year, but not as much as in previous years.

My husband wanted a very expensive weight set. They had them on a lightning deal for $90 off of Amazon's price, which was $40 off regular store pricing.

Also, we got free shipping.

So, all in all, over a $150 savings! :thumbsup2

Overall, I have ordered 12 gifts this year. Some small, some not.

I'm happy that you found great deals for yourself. Unfortunately for me Amazon has been a bit disappointing this year. In the past I have done 90% of my shopping with them but now its not even 10%. Out of all the lightning deals this year, I've only gotten 2 things. Granted the prices on some stuff have been good, its just that the items themselves have been awful compared to what they have had in their deals in years past. There have been years where my UPS man was delivering packages daily from Amazon, but this year he probably wonders if I've moved

I agree! We have done a large part of our shopping the past several years and this year... we have ordered nothing!

Let me count the ways...:cool1: I am currently a Prime member.... and loving Amazon! Great prices, shipping within 2 days (almost instant gratification) deals and discounts everywhere (Amex rebates woohoo) 5x point bonus for a different cc (further discounts down the road for vacation) subscribe and save food items for pantry items I use anyway (save an extra 15% on 5!) plus....I found my cute lil' bedroom t.v. I have been looking for at (drumroll) LOWER than my lowest price point! ($66! not a necessity,I know, but a fun little find)

I could take a wild guess who you work for..

if you have an Amex card register it and spend $75 by 12/31 you get a $25 statement credit from Amex. Made me love my Amazon Prime even more this month. Chase Freedom is giving 5% cash back this quarter on Amazon too!

Tell me more about registering my Amex card for the statement credit! I'd love to take advantage of that...

TIA....

I could take a wild guess who you work for..

What the heck is that about? Has it really gotten to the point for some people that for others to have a good experience with a company it means the company must be paying them? That is just sad and uncalled for.

At the amex site there is a deals section there should be link there, or at least that's what a post on dis board said.

:rotfl: thank you for that laugh....I needed it!:rotfl2: nope, completely unsolicited happiness here.... The only boss I work for is myself and my family (my 'job' is to manage the income and control the outgo!)
and to a couple of pp's I had forgotten that added benefit, I have purchased one or 2 items that weren't up to quality stated...and a prepaid ship label and quick return of my funds made things even better! So, they have my loyalty based on prices, customer service, and ease of use!

there was one....you can see a special offers link on your card page....but it may be gone now......

Love Amazon - have been a prime member for years. I work a lot of hours and it is difficult and time consuming to go to the stores. The lightning deals this year have been ok, but not the best I have seen. We now also get the privilege of paying state sales tax since July.

My best lightning deal was a Thule 15 cubic foot roof top cargo box for $277 with free shipping! I have been watching these for awhile and this was a steal! Great for car trips with our two kids, especially our summer road trip to Hilton Head.
