Ogunquit Beach in Maine

I actually prefer Popham Beach in Maine to Ogunquit. But that's just me. Lots less 'touristy', lots more room to play.

I also prefer Popham, though I'm day tripping it, so doesn't matter that there isn't much around there. (Just get there early to get a place to park and watch the tides! )

OP asked about being able to walk places though- definately rules Popham out. Ogunquit fits the bill (or even Wells, a little less on the "quaint", more "family beachy", but definately walkable.)
