I live in Australia and to get a reservation for Ogas I would have to get up at 1:00am in the morning which I just don't want to do. Do reservations drop later if I keep checking and can you get in standby on the day of visit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your best bet is to use one of the dining alert sites if you don't want to get up at that time, because if people cancel their reservations or additional reservations drop, it will send you an alert.

Standby depends on the size of your party. It may be a longer wait, the larger your party is. (I did the walk-up list before, but it was a solo trip, so it was easy to squeeze me in at the bar right away.) But, yes, they do have a walk-up list.

I’ll be starting our 1am booking next Monday morning (great 🥺) Melbourne time. I’ve also set up dining alerts for any I might miss. I’m so nervous about making these bookings And missing out. Never used to be an issue Pre Covid.

You don’t have to wake up at 1 am. Not the end of the world if no reservation. Totally your choice! Enjoy either way and change expectations.

Of course the earlier the better checking when times do drop. Reservations get canceled prior to your visit so keep checking. Morning the day of, check for adding to walk up list.

I have a love/hate relationship with dining reservations, because they really kill your spontaneity for the day. You need to completely plan your day around that reservation. And who even knows if you'll be hungry then? 😆

I'm thinking I may try to get in standby at Oga's first thing in the morning - just to check it out. Or is there a better time to try getting in?

Is everyone in your party an adult? If you have kids in the group they usually will seat you at the regular tables in Oga's as many kids won't be able to reach the standing tables/bar. This may increase your wait time for a standby reservation.

It will just be my adult daughter and myself. Just now (6:30am) Australian time there was nothing available, as I mentioned I would have had to have been up at 1:00am this morning to try and get a slot but that I am afraid just wasn't going to happen. I also want to eat at Blue Bayou but it looks like that also goes as quickly as Oga's. I am a bit sad as I have been waiting to revisit Disneyland for over ten years. I had it all planned out and Covid hit so tack on another 2 years and there are so many things I want to do but I feel like Disney has changed so much in the last decade that it just may not be what I am hoping for. I hope I am proved wrong. My daughter and I have made a pact that we need to go in with low expectations and not compare it to our last trip. I am sure we will have fun, we always do together no matter what life and holidays throw at us and we have had some curve balls over the years. Okay pity rant over guess it will just be hamburgers and hotdogs for this trip.

Don’t give up. Keep checking. Also DLR reservations are made day by day at the 60 day mark, for your length of stay. Different from WDW stays.

Also, DL has not been great about uploading reservation availability at exactly the 60 mark. But as a group of two adults I think Oga's will be fine to get into as a walk up.

Oh thanks that gives me some hope, I will keep checking and maybe a cancellation or more spots will come up but if not we will hit Galaxy's Edge at rope drop and add our name to the walk up list and see what happens. Thanks for your input.

I'm not sure what the dates of your trip are, but just a heads up that Blue Bayou will be closed for part of the time that POTC is being refurbished (starts April 21, but not sure when they will re-open).

That said, while it's always good to go in with low expectations, even back in the before COVID times, I'm sure you'll still have a wonderful time! Even if you can't get an Oga's reservation, with there only being two of you, and both adults, there's a really good chance you'll be able to get on the walk-up list and get into Oga's (especially if you don't mind standing at the bar or counters and don't need to sit). In general, it will be much easier to navigate those things with only a party of 2 then it is for much larger groups.

And if you're able to, sign up for dining alerts through Mouse Dining, because things may open up at random times of day if people cancel.

And it doesn't just have to be hamburgers or hot dogs either! Some of the table service restaurants will be able to get in a party of 2 if you get added to their walk-up list. And there are lots of other great options that aren't just hamburgers/hotdogs. (I'm going for 3 days in April and doing table service two days, but on the 3rd day I'm solo and I'm gonna fill up on Bengal Barbecue instead of having reservations.)

Anyway, you definitely seem to understand that sometimes you have to roll with the punches, and I'm sure you'll havea a wonderful time regardless!

I haven't eaten a hamburger at DL in YEARS! Counter service at DL has lots of different options and variety so don't count it out. I always love soup or salad from Pacific Wharf, the Ronto Wraps in Galaxy's Edge are quite tasty, and the lounge/bar area of Carthay (at least pre-covid) has some really tasty options too. No reservations required for any of those spots.

If you are looking for a good meal and a quiet-ish place to rest for a bit we LOVE to eat at the Craftsman Bar (next to the pool at the Grand Californian). Although it is just steps away from the park, it always has a very relaxed vibe and I have never had trouble getting a table for two there without reservations.
