Offsite Universal Hotels

What is the closest hotel offsite to US? We will be staying 4 nights (March 14-18) and decided to do one night onsite (to get 2 days with fotl), while keeping our offsite reservation. I know it sounds crazy, but seems to work for us. I know a few people mentioned the Holiday Inn at the Main Gate, but if I am reading correctly, they do not offer a free breakfast. What is another hotel, close, and offers breakfast? I can do some research, but wondered if anyone had a favorite they would recommend! Thanks!

Hi. I recently stayed 2 nights at Holiday Inn Main Gate. It is like .6 miles to the moving sidewalks leading to Citywalk. They also have a shuttle bus, but not continuous alld ay. it had several morning drop off times, and then several PM return times (earliest maybe 4:45 pm?) I guess it may be the absolute closest to Universal, but there were several others in that same general vicinity. The shuttle bus made several other stops all without going onto Kirkman (the main road in front of universal), instead just going through lots and small hotel roads. I wish I had paid better attention to their names, perhaps a "local orlandoer" can provide this info. And no, they did not offer breakfast.

We stayed at the Sheraton Studio City which was about half a mile away. Very nice hotel, but they didn't offer a free breakfast.
