Offsite meals do you plan

Thanks everyone. I don't want to be set in stone just have a rough idea as we ll be with a four year old and a 1 year old so can't really search too much or wait at bars if busy if they are tired/hungry

Watch the time you go to eat then - we go about 6 and very rarely have to wait however if the weather has turned wet the restaurants will be busier.

Just have a list of restaurants you think you'd like - which area are you staying? We can give you an idea of nearby restaurants :thumbsup2

With kids that age, you'd probably want somewhere like TGI Fridays, Olive Garden, Chillis, Johnny Rockets, Friendly's, Village Inn etc. as you're likely to be seated and receive your meals promptly.

Not sure yet. We ve got flights and disney hotel but need to sort a villa. Too many choices!!! Maybe Windsor hills. Cool think we d be eating about 6.

Are they nice?

Everyone enjoys different things about a meal, even the same place you can go one day and have a great experience then go another and its poor. From the list we didn't like Friendly's at all but only been in once. Chilis we go every trip, never had a bad meal but relatives had their worst meal there last August. Olive Garden eaten there twice but not been back, just OK both times but others love it. Not eaten at the others.

I actually use Mapman's maps as not only our map to get round, but also to find where all the shops and restaurants are. What I did last time was mark on the map with yellow highlighter all those restaurants we liked the sound of or knew as a chain in our general area so that we could find them again in a hurry.

There is so much choice offsite; we love Golden Corral (although I know a lot of people don't), and Outbacks is another one we have to visit every trip, even when staying on site. You often get long waits there, though.

Our other firm favourite is Sweet Tomatoes; the nearest one to Disney is at Crossroads, and it's definitely worth driving off site for that! I'm part of their 'vegetable club' and I get bi-monthly e-mails with coupons and special offers. I have never had a BOGOF voucher for them, though - so don't hold your breath on that score!

Pick up coupon books from supermarkets and your hotel lobby should have a good selection, too.

When you register with Club Veg you should get an email thru within 24 hours containing BOGOF vouchers to be used within 14 days. I register 2 days before every trip.

As Wayne has said food is such a subjective topic that for every 10 people that say they had a fantastic meal somewhere another 10 will claim it was their worst ever.
For example our favourites are Texas de Brazil, Bahama Breeze, Margaritaville, Friendlies and the Market Street Cafe at Celebration.
One other thing to try is Trip Advisor. Just put Orlando as the city and see if any of the 3,189 restaurants on offer take your fancy ;-)

If you are in a villa with young children some eat in meals may suit, Walmart and publix have lots of easy food eg prepared salads and cooked chicken.

I have also taken a few Heinz tins when dd was younger and know others do too.

A swim in the pool and beans or spaghetti hoops on toast, tomato soup etc then bed may just be the perfect evening for a 4 year old after a busy park day.

Restaurants also do pick up do one of you could nip out and collect something. Sometimes called curb side collection.

Are they nice?

As others have said, that's very subjective BUT those places get consistently positive reviews overall. They're more likely to appeal to families like yours which means wait staff used to accommodating children and possibly entertainment for the kids (anything from colouring to a guy who makes balloon animals!). They're not long, drawn out meals, either - you will probably be done in an hour, which is generally helpful for young families. Why not have a look on their websites to see if they appeal? As others have said, you may not want to eat out after a long hot day of park touring anyway.

I've found for square useful now as its not about checking in anymore its about reviews. Swarm is used for the check in bit. When in Belfast it shows the most recommended places near you. We found some great places that we would never have stumbled across but where near.

You'll need WiFi or a roaming data package. If you are on three you can use your data in the USA Yay! Almost worth getting a pay as you go out monthly rolling sim just for the trip you can cancel it after.

Yes im aware taste is subjective but you ve got to start somewhere and where better than the horses mouth! So thanks horses for the advise
