Offsite but no car, any recommendations?

You know I looked into a value resort and couldn't believe it was actually CHEAPER than the offsite hotel I was looking at! Plus being on-site would make transportation a breeze, plus all the on-site perks which I don't really know much about but am sure there are some! Thanks again!

Good choice. Staying on-site is a must for many. I stayed off-site my first two trips to WDW. It was a huge hassle without a car. The hotel we stayed at (cannot remember which one) said they were 5 minutes from WDW's gates and provided a free shuttle. I guess in a rocket ship, with no traffic, you could make it to the 'parking lot' gates in 5 minutes, but we found it generally took up to an hour to get to MK. The shuttle stopped at another hotel after ours and didn't keep to the schedule very well. Worse yet, they actually canceled the morning shuttle one morning because there were not enough people using it. No kidding. We took a taxi to Alamo that day and rented a car for the rest of the trip. We wasted half the day and some money that could have been used to pay for on-site accomodations.
Anyway, never again. We stayed on-site the next trip and would never consider staying off-site again.

Staying onsite you will get extra magic hours. Also, keep an eye out for free dining. I don't know if it is still being offered or not. But if not, you never know when they will add it back, so keep your eyes and ears open.

Glad everything worked out for you Free4Life11! We have only been to WDW once, but LOVED being onsite....it is so easy and you can just relax and let someone else do the driving for you!

SSPrincessmom, mmb has sent you the link. At the TTC (MK) is where you catch the buses. There are 2 routes to MK. # 50 goes from the TTC to the downtown bus station, passing Sea World on the way. # 56 goes up #192 (Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway) past Old Town, and Walmart to Osceola Square Mall. Cost is $1.25. Transfers are free. Schedules and info is at the TTC information booth. The TTC is where you catch the monorails and ferry to MK.

All of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd. have all-day, frequent (about every 30 min.), free, shuttle service to all of the WDW parks, including water parks. The hotels themselves are all close enough to walk to DD. You can often find really great rates at many of the discount hotel sites. We are going next month and was able to extend our trip by three days with the great rate we found at the Best Western on Hotel Plaza Blvd.

this is what i was going to recommend ... we just got back from a week at the BW (nice hotel - large room, staff was friendly, looks a little old, but it was clean and we had a great rate) ... we had no problem whatsoever getting around with their buses ... never took more than 30 mins max to get to any of the parks (had to stop at other hotels for pickups) ... the shuttles even go to PI after 6 pm, even though it's a close enough walk - takes about 15 mins ... one of the hotels even participates in the EMH (i'm don't remember which but i want to say the hilton) ... check the website www.downtowndisneyhotels.com ...
