***Officially Official September 2017 Thread***

@Mackenzie Click-Mickelson

No judgement here. I actually stopped reading that Irma thread. It was getting nasty. The only Irma threads I've been following here are the ones below. They've been great. No drama and full of useful info. Stay safe and please update when you can after the storm passes. We are going forward with our plans to arrive on the 19th as of now, depending on how much damage is done and flights etc

Thank you very much for those links I really appreciate it-I hadn't even gotten around to those thread just a few other hurricane Irma threads about Disney closures and whatnot! I will def. update after the storm passes.

It's really a testament to how bad that thread is when a mod just gets fed up and leaves the thread (and they are sheltering at Disney themselves) and an administrator has to ban posters from posting on that thread as well as posts being deleted. I completely understand them wanting to keep the thread open because of potentially getting useful information but I'm sure under normal circumstances that thread would have been locked and potentially deleted.

I hope all is well for everyone coming after the hurricane has passed. Truly I understand how nervous/anxious/hopeful we all are :grouphug:.

Honestly I quit looking at Irma threads and Facebook. The nastiness of people is amazing. I have family in Tampa, of course I'm concerned. But this is Disney boards, of course that's the main talk here. DH just talked to cousin from Tampa and even he is telling us we should be fine to leave Saturday. We are hoping it keeps swaying west and doesn't hit them direct. They are in Atlanta too, so it's nuts there. Honestly I am packing now, not even worried anymore about going- I'm pretty sure we're going to be fine, but now worried for them.

We ended up with several rider switch passes that we didn't use and meant to give to someone else, but forgot about it in our haste to leave Orlando! I'd be happy to mail them to anyone who can use them before they expire on Sept. 30th! Each one is good for 3 people to use in the FastPass line.

**Edited to add they are all claimed!

I would absolutely take them, if it's not a hassle!

Yes people are just *sigh* well you know.

I really truly feel for all that will be impacted by this and we didn't make our decision lightly at all make no doubt about that. Just about every several hrs when updates are out we've been checking them and have been since last Sunday/Monday (Labor Day). I was down at the Lake trying to enjoy Labor Day weekend but it wasn't the most fun worried and all.

I'll tell you what though this hurricane has been quite the rollercoaster (not sure if that's pun intended or not lol) switching from one side of the coast to the other. Poor Tampa for sure :sad1: as well as all the other areas it's hitting/will be hitting not just in FL. WDW is def. in a better position than in previous updates so hopefully that continues to either improve or be the same.

I will say everyone here at Disney parks and resorts have been just amazing. All have kept their cool, been very pleasant and helpful. On a positive note one of my favorite Disney movies has just come onto the tv in the room the animated Beauty and the Beast  (Tron the newer version just finished playing).

Universal employees were very pleasant as well :-).

Have fun packing everyone! Try and stay positive.

Here now, everybody is great. I'm getting really tired of some of my friends from home telling me to leave to find shelter, no matter how many times I tell them that I'm already in a safe place. The people here at PoP are great. I have met some great families already. So I miss one day in the parks. The weather has been sunny and humid up till this point. I was able to get my Ohana dinner in, had to cancel the Boathouse, but that's good because we have a TON of extra meals on our plan still.

Update (FWIW): My family is home. Thankfully!!!!!

While waiting for Magic Express, I was talking to resort staff. I even had one (will not mention who in case it's against the normal Disney rules) glance over pages of the guests on property for the next few days. Point being - it was really cool to see how many staff were staying onsite to ensure they were able to keep the resort running well for all those staying. They even had some nurses staying onsite. Lots of culinary & housekeeping. Engineers. And on and on. In the lobby around 11:30 they had Stitch walking around being funny and taking pictures. They had managers walking around just talking to the guests. Incredibly organized, typical of Disney!

We saw a ton of dogs today and Florida tagged vehicles checking in. They all brought groceries and drinks. Not sure I have much more info. But happy to share anything if I know the answer.

Glad to hear you made it home! I am sure things changed quickly after we left on Thursday, but I will say it was a bit weird how normal it was there while i was reading about everything happening with people prepping in Orlando. I am truly impressed by how helpful the cast members were and how they are helping guests during the storm.

I don't have Facebook and I have not looked at any other threads. Sorry to say but people are so rude now a days, especially over the internet. Everyone on here is super nice and glad I found the DIS and this thread.
That other thread (that has over 260pages now) is one of the worst threads I've seen on the DIS. The really unfortunate thing is that thread helped me prepare and gain knowledge that I didn't have but it was a double-edged sword with the other side of posters. We have tornadoes where I live (NE KS) but we only get any leftovers from hurricanes right at the end of them when they are disipating. We get severe weather and whatnot but haven't experienced being in the midst of a hurricane..until now that is.

I'm a pretty resilent person but I am not lying when I say I nearly cried because some posters were calling people who chose to come selfish people and they taking resources away from evacuatees and locals (like hotel rooms, gas and other provisions) and that tourists shouldn't come because it could takes weeks or months for the areas to get back to normal and all the resources should be for just the locals not tourists choosing to come amongst other things there were equally mean. I chose not to post anything about me being here on that thread I know just how I would be responded with.

Not trying to bring any sadness here because truthfully you guys have all been just so incredibly great but if you want to see a tiny glimpse of what people have said in another thread you can click on my spoiler.

One thing for sure is we're all def. here for each other on this thread :grouphug: :grouphug:

I don't have Facebook either. But it's a dis thread that we're all referring to unfortunately

We were and still are getting a lot of flack from our friends and family about continuing our vacation. I refused to go on FB for a few days cause of the nastiness and flat out rude comments we were getting. Glad to have a safe place to discuss what is going on here now. I have to say the level of professionalism the staff at BC &YC is amazing. There is so much stuff to keep our family entertained. Right now there is a 7pm curfew. You have to be in your resort by then.

I completely agree. I stopped even skimming that thread about 100 pages in. It was getting nasty and I just don't need that negative energy.

I really like our sept group!

Ps I'm really impressed how you did that spoiler alert. That was fancy.
