***Officially Official September 2017 Thread***

Do you have a link?
I was looking here http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

And aside from Irma and Jose there Katia who's dissipated and a yellow cross by Africa?
I was talking about the yellow cross. That's how they start- Jose was a yellow x at this time last week. I know it's not a major storm yet....but something to keep an eye on.

Ah, right I have never used that site or looked for weather changes before, thanks.

started packing a bit this afternoon, went and picked up snacks for the room and my for my ds at the parks. Went through my and ds's toiletries and pick up some meds that needed replacing. Finally made my packing lists for us, something I normally would of done last week, but I am going to be optimistic and pray it will not be too bad.

We have found we need to be careful when talking about the hurricane as my ds was getting a little panicked that Disney would be blown away, now he is telling me sorcerer Mickey will use his magic to make it all better. If only it was that simple. pixiedust::smickey:

We are here till the 17th...will update you all.

Thanks, You have several people waiting to hear how it all turns out.
I am excited about still going but I also worried about the residents. I use to live in central Florida so I got use to the hurricanes and tropical storms.

Same here. We lived there and actually evacuated to disney for Charlie in 2004. That was a rough year and we moved back to Ohio. I know us worrying about our trip is nothing compared to worrying if your home will be blown away. We have family on harbor island in Tampa that are VERY worried and evacuated yesterday. I'm hoping they still have that beautiful home to go back to. They are also going to give us the heads up when the roads are clear to go.

I'm being optimistic too and finally started packing today. I think we will be fine.

We are scheduled to be at WDW 9/16-23. We're driving down from NC so we can wait to make a final go/no go decision as late as Saturday morning. From all I've read, the parks should be back up and running by then. We're concerned about the availability of gas along our route. But of course, our concerns are small potatoes compared to what the FL residents are facing. We are praying for everyone's safety.

Update (FWIW): My family is home. Thankfully!!!!!

While waiting for Magic Express, I was talking to resort staff. I even had one (will not mention who in case it's against the normal Disney rules) glance over pages of the guests on property for the next few days. Point being - it was really cool to see how many staff were staying onsite to ensure they were able to keep the resort running well for all those staying. They even had some nurses staying onsite. Lots of culinary & housekeeping. Engineers. And on and on. In the lobby around 11:30 they had Stitch walking around being funny and taking pictures. They had managers walking around just talking to the guests. Incredibly organized, typical of Disney!

We saw a ton of dogs today and Florida tagged vehicles checking in. They all brought groceries and drinks. Not sure I have much more info. But happy to share anything if I know the answer.

I am too but I figure a little less than 2 weeks till we head down it should be good by then. I downloaded the gas buddy app just in case.

Needless to say I will be glued to these boards and the news tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.
Same here

My buddy who drives a big rig and lives in central Florida just drove from New Jersey to central Florida and said there are hundreds of power trucks and tree removal rigs staged to get in after the storm passes.

I was unaware of that app. Downloading it now.

Geez, I'm gone for a few days and there's, like, 6 news pages! LOL

I've been in Atlanta the last few days and am leaving today, just in time. @ChiefM can probably speak to this better than I can but, from my perspective, these people have lost their minds! There's been a rush all weekend at the grocery stores on the essentials. Not to mention all of the Florida people coming to Atlanta to get away from Irma.

We arrive on the 24th and, as of right now, our plans haven't changed. Kind of a wait-and-see mode right now but I'm not expecting it to change. My main concern right now is Tampa. I have many friends there and it doesn't look good there. They, as well as the rest of Florida, are in my thoughts.

Everyone in Atlanta is nuts anyway, that's why I live over an hour away.
All the motels in Rome GA are full of Florida residents. I was going to pull the trigger and buy a generator just in case, none anywhere for 100 miles.

*Apologies for the near radio silence-it's been a very stressful week and a half*

Guys I've been very hesitent to even mention this...the other hurricane thread is honestly just awful for the amount of guilt tripping people are doing there and for as much helpful information there is just as much negativity. I hope this thread isn't like this (I don't think it would be you guys are all so wonderful and supportive here). We made our decision and I have no judgment on those who still went forward with their plans like we did, adjusted their plans, or even fully cancelled their plans. Your decision is yours alone and not for me to judge what you chose to do (or had to do if your flights got cancelled when you were trying to get back home before Irma hit).

My husband and I watched and watched extremely close this whole event. We made the decision to continue with our plans. We arrived in Orlando on Friday 9/8 after an hr delay. The delay was because Orlando International Airport had a lot of congestion (understandably).

We actually went straight to Universal Orlando and was able to get in some real low crowds. Originally arrival day was supposed to be our rest day but we figured Sunday and Monday parks would be closed and wanted to get in that day.

We have extended our trip at this time. Instead of flying back Sunday the 17th at noon we are now flying back at 8ish pm on Monday the 18th. We are at All-Star Sports and they extended in our same room too plus the discounted rate (what we were paying with the Room Only discount) however those who needed rooms for this weekend and I want to say immediately after Monday were given a hurricane rate (I believe 40%)..don't quote me on the exact information it's just bits and pieces I picked up from people when we went to the front desk to extend our trip).

We went to AK yesterday morning but slept a little too late to go on FOP without an hr+ wait so we decided to bypass that. But we did go on NRJ. After that we went to MK and got all the rides we wanted to ride in with virtually no wait. Only wait we had was 7DMT which was 40mins at that time but it did get down to 20mins (at least on MDE) at times. We just did the rides to get in them with low crowds.

When we got back last night housekeeping had left us a trashbag full of towels, an extra box of tissues, a flashlight (which we had already brought a few LED flashlights with us) and extra toiletries. Earlier yesterday we had asked housekeeping for additional toilet paper (via the phone in the room) and they promptly brought us some more.

All-Star Sports had the boxed lunches for $6 and we got some. This morning they had breakfast and we went ahead and did that as well. They still seemed to have boxed lunches left for you to purchase. We had packed a suitecase of food with us but the boxed lunches and breakfast gave us some meat and stuff we didn't have with us (we brought non-perishable stuff). Pluto and Goofy made appearances in the food court and what a welcome sight to see the kids and adults alike have some positive moment.

We are watching the weather a lot and are being cautious. I hope anyone else who is there right now stays safe!
