Official Writer's Thread

Here is a poem I wrote a few weeks back. It scratches next to the devil's speech from "Paradise Lost".
----

O precious, sweet, piece of drug this is before me here
A grace of life-long ended strong and quickly thus put out.
How so, Father of torment! How I feel thy overwhelming power,
And from this urge you give unto me I know ‘tis this that will free me so.
You long for me and me for thee and that is good and sweetly true.
Look here, you kid and examine what I say. It will do thee well thy know
And put thee on thy way. This precious drug before me still
Is what made me who I am today, of what I am for henceforth and for always.
Teachers who taught thee once before know nothing of the lore of a drug
That does not equate two and two together or place a comma after words,
Though rather gives thee more than that, a freedom, a longing from thy fear.
Murder thee strangely? Such fictitious sounds! This cannot kill thee yet,
Ha! Never would it dare. Take a puff at this, my friend, and find thyself in cheer.
Things will begin to spin for you and clouds will reach your eyes or thee to the skies.
This special drug is here for thee and has thy name printed so neatly upon it
Though look closely, kid, and observe a gentler image of what you are to become.
This skull and cross bones is nothing short of days to come if your lips
Should ever grace upon this drug. But fear not, my dear, for you have nothing to worry.
Precious, sweet and simpler drugs do shorten your time of year.

This is a poem I wrote when I was 10.. Keep that in mind at how bad it is. I'm almost ashamed that I wrote this..lol.

EDIT:

Bye Bye Poem

I don't have much writing of my own, but I'd like to share on eof my favorite poems of all. Tyger Tyger, by William Blake. http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~keith/poems/tyger.html It was one of my main inspirations in writing stories and poems.

ETA: I decided to make one up of the top of my head.

Swiftly and surely
He creeps about
Someone very burly
Appears in his route

Anxious to be done
He disregards the sun
Slowly rising in the east
Sending shadows of the beast

Plucking through his perilous path
Failing to notice the beast's wrath
He shivers in the cold
The beast takes in the scent of mold

Sailing through the icy room
He is still unaware of the coming danger
Crouching behind a bundle of brooms
The beast looks content like a baby in a manger

He exits the room
And seals his doom
For the beast
Had finally captured his feast.

Dumb, I know. Lol. I changed the rhyming pattern too often and I had a bad rhythm... I hate improv. LOL

Here is another one.

Along this road of unmistakable errors,
There comes a class that outlives its motivation.
A time of odd enthusiastic terrors,
That strut its life an underlying foundation.

And all too keen an eye could see,
The spark, the flame the initial formation,
Of this outlandish life of truth and honesty.
To breathe, to breathe this uplifting salvation.

If eyes could only see this circus upon foot.
Juggling fears, pleasures and treasured dreams.
Where laughter is weakened and strangely put
On a level so high, but we reach for it, it seems.

Along this road of unmistakable errors,
There comes a class that outlives its motivation.
The spark, the flame the initial formation,
On a level so high, we reach for it, it seems.

i'd definitely be interested in a writer's board!!

i personally like writing scripts, well i always start writing a script and then i just give up!!! but i'm going to try and start writing something and pursue it until the end-but i need some inspiritation!

loving all your poems by the way!

A writer's board is an awesome idea! And some of my writing has to do with Disney...so it works out great! :cool1: I write stories for the most part, so I hope you all don't mind loooong posts! ;) ~May Queen

Poetry is ageless.

Oh I win! One of my poems was published in a Poetry Anthology. I'll run downstairs and find the book.

I'll start with my published poem, and work into the poems I used for my Language Arts anthology, ending a poetry unit.

“The Unicorn”
Majestic beast
One horn
Quite magical
Very beautiful
Powerful looking
Gentle ways
Brings luck
Never seen
Probably fictional
May exist

“The Oompa Loompa”
Oompa loompas are not that tall,
In fact, they are very small.
They have green curly hair.
White suspenders are what they wear.
Oompa loompas sing all day.
They help Willy Wonka in his chocolate factory,
Making tons of candy.
I think being an Oompa Loompa would be dandy.

“Nightingale”
A brown-feathered bird,
Singing very beautifully,
Sitting on a branch.

“The End of Summer”
A clear blue sky,
On a cloudless day,
Watching birds fly,
Just flying away.
Sitting in the sun,
Feeling its rays.
Viewing green-leaved trees
That stand so tall.
I’ll miss these summer days
When the season changes to fall.

“Winter”
Snowflakes start to dance,
Slowly falling from the sky.
Winter has begun

“An Ogre Named Og”
There once was an ogre named Og.
He didn’t like to talk or jog,
And instead loved to walk.
One day Pooja wanted to talk to him.
Og thought, I need to get away.
It’s too slow to walk, and I can’t swim.
So Og decided to jog anyway.
That made Pooja cry all day.

Yes, it's about WORLDwarQUIFFLE.

“Midnight Tea”
The sky was dark and dreary, violently gray.
It was late in the day,
Night in fact.
And I was on my way to midnight tea,
To Mrs. Mariette Applegate’s house.
Her ways were very strange.
All women must wear a pink blouse,
When entering her house.
Her teatime was at midnight,
To keep us all in fright.
But her teas were always fun,
Us women would be drinking our tea until we saw the sun.

^ I actually hate tea.

“Love”
Love
Sweet, wonderful
Hugging, dating, kissing
Sometimes impossible to describe
Magical

One of mine was published as well! Another of them will be published soon. It's such a cool feeling seeing your work in print.

I know! My grandma loved "The Unicorn" so much, she had me type it all out so she could post it in her office at work.

May I join? I write often, usually short stories. One of my stories was published on neopets.

I'm good with HTML but I tried coding something in my siggy, and it just showed up as a ton of letters and numbers... :confused3

Yeah, I know how to do it, I just have to design one. That might be a wee bit difficult . . .
