Official Wine & Dine 2014

On the confirmation email you received from runDisney there should be a confirmation #. Mine started with THOR. If you enter this number you should be able to link your tickets. This worked for me. Hope it works for you!

The only number on my confirmation email is the original package confirmation number. When I try and use that to link the tickets, I get an error message stating the reservation is already linked (it is, but it is changed and I don't think MDE recognizes that). There doesn't seem to be a way to delete a reservation and re-enter it either.

I had the same issue: booked my room and park tickets together via RunDisney, entered the confirmation number into the MyMagic site but it only worked for the room and not the tickets. I emailed Disney to find out how I'd be able to access the FastPass+ reservations and here's the not-so-helpful response:

"At this time, guests making reservations with our groups department
would receive their tickets upon arrival. We look forward to your
upcoming stay in November and cannot wait to share some Disney magic!"

So I just called the RunDisney number again and asked about dropping the park tickets from my reservation, with the intention of buying them separately through the ESPN Event Tickets site and paying extra for the shipping to Canada. This time, I got a very helpful representative who said that the easiest thing would be to remove the tickets from my package, and instantly add a separate ticket order with its own confirmation number. The physical tickets will be available for pick-up at Will Call (resort or any of the parks) but the new confirmation number (which was 12 digits and incorporates some letters from your name) worked perfectly on the MyMagic website.

And the cost was exactly the same, so yay!

Thanks for this info! I think that is what I will do. I tried calling but the reservation person transferred me to the Internet Helpdesk and I was on hold for awhile before I hung up. I suppose once you pick up your tickets, a CM would be able to link the tickets to your Magic Band for your resort reservation.

LOL at your generic Disney response ... that is what the rep kept telling me when I booked my tickets. I get that I won't physically be able to have them (and I would prefer not to have them) but I should receive a number to link them to the MDE for FP+.

I plan to purchase my park tickets through the ESPN event store. I know I need two for sure, but if someone else joins our two-some can I place another order for an additional ticket at a later time?

Answering my own question here . . . RunDisney says I can come back later and order additional tickets with no problem. (They aren't refundable so I want to be sure of the members in my party before I order).

I also inquired if they would put up a Ticker showing % sold out for the post-race party. She said that they don't usually do that. (Again, I want to be sure of the members of my party coming before I purchase something non-refundable).

Here's a question back to the boards: Is there anything about the post-race tickets that makes them non-transferable? If I buy an extra and don't use it, can I sell it to Joe?

I DO think they put up the ticker showing how full it is. I'm sure I remember that from last year...They have the ticker up for the Pre-Race Taste party so I don't see why they wouldn't have it for the Finish Line Party, especially since there are only a certain number of tickets allotted for the event. I'm guessing there's no ticker yet because it's not yet 50% full.

Not totally sure about how transferable they are. I ordered a ticket last year for my husband and I just looked back through my email - his name was never attached to the ticket and I was the one that picked it up at the expo - my name was on the order and I had to show ID. The ticket looked like a normal park ticket, so I don't think it was "attached" to him until he used it to enter the park that night. :confused3

As Ariel said, I almost certainly remember them putting up a sold out percentage for the post race party.

Its a ticket that is equal to one admission. It doesn't have a name or reservation number tied to it, so it would be transferable.

I'm trying to plan some ADRs, does anyone know around what time the kid's races finish? My son is signed up for the 100m if that makes a difference.

I would go on the safe side and give the race about an hour start to very very very finish, when he's done and you've taken pictures and gotten him out of the finishing corral, etc etc.

And then after that you've got to walk alllllll the way from the back of the sports complex (assuming they always have the kid's races in the same area that they had them for the WDW Marathon weekend) to the buses and then go where you need to go.

I would definitely pack snacks, perhaps a sandwich or something, and some waters etc...and make a late lunch/early dinner type of reservation, just to be safe.

We only did the Mickey Mile for the marathon weekend, and that's of course a little longer than the 100m, but even though we wanted to get out of there on the quicker side, it took us a bit of time for the excitement and all.

So excited for this race! It's my 1st Disney half (did Enchanted 10k and Royal Family 5k in Feb), and will be my 3rd half marathon. I booked our stay yesterday (Wilderness Lodge)…now it's starting to feel real!!! DH and I enjoyed ourselves so much during the Princess weekend. We left the kids at home and didn't even go to the parks during our stay! It was such a relaxing and fun getaway for us just hanging out at the pool, eating luxurious meals at grownup restaurants, strolling around Downtown Disney…doing what WE wanted to do! Love my kids, but am looking so forward to doing this again! I'm also anxious to run this race, the course sounds so awesome!

Regarding spectators finish line viewing...

Can a spectator watch their runner cross the finish line without having to purchase after party tickets? My family wants to see me cross the finish line but will not be joining us for the after party as they are not night owls.

Thanks. :)

TJAinNE, I should throw in a caveat that I'm a huge overestimator for time it takes to do things at Disney. I'm horrible about "spending" time twice and three times at home; thinking I can do something in 3 minutes when I know perfectly well it'll take me 9, etc. I'm awful about it at home and am often late or just rushing up to things on time.

But at Disney (for travel in general) I'm very very different, and I never want to be late for anything. I would rather be bored somewhere, waiting, than rushing rushing rushing somewhere.

So my thoughts will likely get you there with all the time in the world to sit and curse me. :3dglasses

Then again, the walk from the kid's race areas (assuming they are in the same place as for Marathon Weekend) out to the cars/buses is really really long! Especially with a kiddo young enough to be in the 100m dash. :)

Finish line is located way towards the back of the Epcot parking lot (or at least like it seemed like it was like way in the back) with the last stretch being in that parking lot. So yeah they can go see you finish at the actual finish and not go to the after party.

As of right now, I am thinking of staying up late Friday night, sleep in Saturday, having a normal breakfast when we wake up (oatmeal or yogurt), then a big lunch around 2:00 (I'm thinking Via Napoli) and then something light (and well known) around 6.

Thoughts?

I have found the best time for me to eat lunch on race day is around noon. I will then have a small snack on the way over to the race. I have eaten later like your plan and found that I needed more time to digest.

Try to stay to what you know as far as your timetable and routine. Just count it back from race start time. You may want to subtract a couple of hours for the time between last meal and race time as it is a night time start.

I like to plan in advance and be early for everything. So I think we'll skip an ADR on race day and just go with a good counter service. I am planning on packing a lot of snacks for my DS in case something takes longer than expected. I am not too worried about a long walk as we will have multiple grandparents with us to help carry or corral him which ever is needed at the time.

We did the kids' races last year and it was a pretty slow process. We were at ESPN ALL morning. We got there at about 9:30, waited, finally did the races, and I think we got done at around 11:30. We did have a daughter in the 1 mile run, so we stayed until that was over. LONG MORNING. You should be able to leave before that point. It was a long morning. There's a couple of blogs specific to the kids races that I found on the web last year and I think they were all accurate to our experience. Have fun! It was so good for my girls... This year they are moving up to the 5K.

I just realized this yesterday, and yes, it will fly!! I feel so unprepared (in the trip planning - the running I"m not worried about). This is the first time we are doing a night race, and F&W. I'm getting bogged down on trying to figure out which ADRs I want to make next week. Part of me wants to just enjoy F&W in its last few days and part of me is afraid of it interfering with the run.

In the past couple years, I've eaten mid-afternoon, snacked around 5:30 or 6, and then carried two bars with me to the ESPN waiting grass. (What's the official name for that area?) I've ended up eating both bars before start just to keep my blood sugar level, and then followed my nutrition plan as usual for the run. So... your plan sounds similar to mine. :thumbsup2

I get so nervous by 6 pm about getting to the race (all my race anxiety stems around missing some bus and getting there too late lol) that I don't want to eat, but I make myself eat something light. I've observed that in the pre-race purgatory grassland the porta johns are readily available until about 45 minutes before they load the corrals. Then the lines grow.

Everyone's a little different. I personally do some night runs while training for this... just so I know what to expect.

Thanks for the advice! My only runDisneu race so far was Tink and we were staying at the GCH, so we walked out of our hotel and into the corral, literally. The whole waiting around is new to me!

I was so nervous last year for TOT. I got it into my head that it was going to take me at least 40 minutes to walk from our room near the parking lot at POR to the front of the lobby to catch the bus. Then it took me 5 minutes and I felt ridiculous.

The potties....so then after being so nervous to just get there, I made the decision to not wait for my family AND to not take my phone...allllll alone. I don't see that well in the dark and just coudln't tell what was going on. I made the idiotic decision to get in the potty line WAY too late, and missed my corral. And the one after that. And had to force my way into the next one. Since I had no phone DH and DS didn't know where I was or why I started so relatively late... Ugh.

Lesson learned, get in the potty line early!

Actually this is a good question to ask the thread... is it just my race anxiety that forces me to catch the first or second bus to ESPN? Are there some of you that get there closer to start time and feel comfortable with that timing?

Last year my sister was with me but this year I'll be out there waiting by myself:( which will NOT be fun.

I find myself catching one of the first buses for night races such as Wine & Dine. They seem to be far more crowded and hectic the closer it gets to the starting time. I am not one to dance around as the DJ would like (I'm sorry it seems like I'd be tempting fate too much to do the cha-cha slide on uneven grass with such a short time before the race), but I have waited for a pic with Mickey. And met up with WISHers and running friends from other groups. And used the port-a-potty early and stretched and used the p-a-p again and bam. It's time to get into the corral.

Side note: with the smaller corral sizes, I wound up at the front of my corral without jockeying for position or even trying.

Races at DL are so much easier than WDW simply due to the transportation.
