Official Wine & Dine 2014

I'm looking at ordering my Finish Line party tickets (I'm just running the 5k); do most people will call these tickets? Or is it better to ship them to myself? Or is it all Will Call? The site it confusing to me before coffee. Ha.

Being a control freak about tickets, I've had them mailed to me the last two years. I don't remember if anyone besides runners got the $10 gift card though. :confused3 I believe I received them sometime over the summer. After seeing the crazy line for will call pickup, SO glad I did! :cheer2:

Last year DH stood in line for his $10 gift card to go along with his party ticket (which we already had mailed to us) for the ENTIRE time it took me to go from picking up my race packet (he waited with me for that part), and then across to get my shirt and bag and shopped the whole expo. When I finished he STILL wasn't done so I sat and had a pretzel and lemonade in the shade and waited for him.

Definitely don't do will call if you can avoid it.

Is it too complicated to stay at a non-host resort for the race and catch a taxi to the start and back to the resort after the race? Since BWV and BCV are both booked I was thinking about AKV since that's DH's favorite. The taxi ride to the expo and start would be super quick, but I'm worried about getting home after the race. Does anyone have experience in this area?

We took a cab back to POFQ after the race last year. The cabs were lined up waiting, so we were able to hop right in. It was the best money spent - we were back in 10 minutes for a minimal cost. I'll probably do it again this year! :thumbsup2

How early do I need to leave for the races? My kids are running in the mile kids race beginning at 10:00 and my husband and I are running in the half that evening.

Also, how long do the kids races take? I will be going to the parks after and want to schedule my fast pass times.

Finally, I booked through rundisney and was able to link my resort reservation. However, I don't have the ticket information. Do they mail me the tickets or do I need to be persistent about getting a link number for MDE?

TIA.

Tickets - you can try to call and get lucky, but you'll probably have to wait until arrival to link the tix and register for FP+

We had the same issue last year and missed nothing ... Easy easy

Castle2Castle, I see in your signature that you are scheduled for the Lincoln half in April. We are going also. Have you done this race before or heard anything about it?

This will be our first time running it, but we've heard good things about it in terms of scenery and organization. The course looks to be flat and it was very reasonably priced -- our only disappointment so far is that they changed the medal for the 50th anniversary! We signed up thinking it would be a good race to qualify my fiancee for a better runDisney corral and to get a big penny medal, but at least the new medal is still pretty nice looking! :goodvibes

Our party tickets arrived in today's mail! Now I have to keep them safe for the next 7 months.

Dis dreamer and castletocastle I will be running that race also. I really wanted that penny medal oh wells I'll just have to run it again next year.

I just went to register for the 5K and it says its sold out. Is there any other way to enter that anyone knows of? Groups? Anything? thanks!

You can check the charity groups and travel providers listed on the runDisney site, but I would imagine they focus more on the half marathon rather than the 5K. Doesn't hurt to ask, though.

I had not heard of this race until this year when we decided we should go see the Lincoln sites in Springfield! Yes, we were looking forward to the penny medal too - but I hope the new medal will be nice. We are walkers so we will be at the back of the pack. Hope the weather will be good & that everyone will enjoy the race! We watched "Lincoln" again last night in anticipation of the race.

I have a question about the food and wine festival for those that have done it before. Are the kiosks open only in the evening or for lunch as well? Thanks.

What is the "penny medal" I keep reading about? We are from CA and this will be my Husband's 1st FL race with Disney. He had done plenty at DL but none in WDW. He is excited to get his Coast to Coast medal though!

The penny medal is for a separate, non-Disney race in Springfield, IL -- the Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon. For years their medal has been a big penny with the event year where the minted year would traditionally be on a penny. This year is the 50th anniversary, though, so they're commemorating it with a special anniversary medal that's like a big $5 bill.

I hope you enjoy your first FL race with Disney!

I believe the booths open at the same time World Showcase opens, which is 11am. I don't think any open any earlier, but they will all be open in time for lunch.

Finally got the hotel booked! That's a relief for me. Pretty much set now until ADR reservations start and that's not until May so for now all I can do is twiddle my thumbs. I can't even run right now because of surgeons orders. Ah well only a few more weeks until I get cleared for strenuous activity again and can hit the pavement again.

I have a Passporter guidebook, and I kept last year's TOT party tickets safe in there.

They are open for lunch. :)
