Official Wine & Dine 2014

Did you call runDisney for the rates, or did you call the resorts? I believe only runDisney will have the rates available; if that is who you called, then it could be possible that they've already sold out of their allotment of discounted rooms for that resort. :confused3 Just be aware that there is no guarantee of a discount, or that any discounts will be greater than what's being offered by runDisney right now. And with the runDisney reservation, you can change or cancel without penalty up to 45 days prior to your arrival. We're hopeful that a better rate will come available, but we still booked a room through runDisney so that we wouldn't miss out on any discount at all and have the security of knowing we have a room in place; for our arrival on November 7 we have until September 23 to see if something better becomes available.
Right...that's why I said "probably" and "if." Sounds like a good plan to book the package just in case.

Through the RunDisney system, you should get good rates at host resorts ... Less than rack rates! Maybe worse than wait-and-see rates

It won't be that far off though in my experience ... It's still Disney and it's not super cheap

Thanks for the map, Ariel! I was thinking I would have to walk all the way around the front to get to the BC bus stop.

I called runDisney just to get an idea of their discount. The BC discount they have is pretty decent, but I will take my chances and book throough WDW and hope for a discount.

Is it too complicated to stay at a non-host resort for the race and catch a taxi to the start and back to the resort after the race? Since BWV and BCV are both booked I was thinking about AKV since that's DH's favorite. The taxi ride to the expo and start would be super quick, but I'm worried about getting home after the race. Does anyone have experience in this area?

I did Beach Club one year and Boardwalk the next--you can't go wrong with any of those hotels for W&D! It was great. I got my rate through a travel agent, it worked to be around 20-25% off rack rate, and since I'm an annual passholder and didn't need a package she gave me room only with 24 hours to cancel. The year before I did runDisney and it was a huge pain the butt--I could only call to modify 9-5, Mon-Friday and it drove me crazy.

Not personally, but I know others who've taxied to this race and others - they reported it was very easy and very efficient. :thumbsup2

Should not be that difficult at all. You could take take a taxi after the party from the front of Epcot or from Beach Club if you end the night closer to the International Gateway.

I cannot believe how quickly it filled up. I logged on yesterday to try register and was shocked I couldn't get in. I emailed the Save the Children organization and was able to get in with them, phew! Now I have to fundraise my butt off and raise at least $1,000 but it's for a great cause and give me a great reason to stick to my running plan. Wish me luck!

Is that how you were able to get a ticket through them, you have to do fundraising for them in exchange? I have a couple of friends who couldn't get in and were looking for an option.

Yes that is how it works. Some of the charities have already sold out. Save the Children said sold out on their website but I emailed them anyway and I lucked out they still have a spot. I also emailed homes for troops because we are a military family and I would have loved to be part of their team but I haven't heard from them. I suggest emailing the charities to see if they have any tickets left.

Is there a list of foundations that may have gotten tickets? Or just randomly start calling foundations?

Yes on rundisney.com click on charity on the wine and dine registration tab. It will scroll you down the page to the charities with links to their websites,

I'm looking at ordering my Finish Line party tickets (I'm just running the 5k); do most people will call these tickets? Or is it better to ship them to myself? Or is it all Will Call? The site it confusing to me before coffee. Ha.

Is shipping an option? I truly don't remember.

I will-called it last year and the line to pick them up was HUGE...30-minute wait or something.. So in hindsight I wish I would have just had them shipped to me...but I could have just had horrible luck with my timing. :confused3

I think it's only will call. And yes, the line was pretty long at the Expo to pick them up

I don't see mention of the $10 gc with the party ticket anymore. Do we still get that?
