Official Wine & Dine 2014

Um, let's hear a little more about that grassy field, dancing and waiting. That's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for, please!

Know you were asking someone else but hope you don't mind my reply.

If your off the first bus (which I was) your usually there for an hour or two (I can't for the life of me remember exactly when corrals open up and its not listed in the old programs. I think its an hour). Even when the corrals finally do open. So from there you have three options to spend your time.

First is to just keep of your feet and sit on the grass in the big open space they have around. It's a decent sized area so finding a spot to sit that doesn't overlap with the dance area, the porta potie lines, and the character meet and greet lines isn't as difficult as it sounds.

Second you could hit the Character Meet And Greet lines. They'll usually have some character Meet And Greets set up with them in Wine and Dine themed costumes. I know they Minnie, Mickey, Chip & Dale for sure last year, and they might have had Goofy and Pluto but I'm not 100 percent sure on those two (anyone remember?). The lines for them were pretty long last year as the evening went on, can't imagine what they'll get like this year. So if your going to do any of them prioritize based on who you want to do.

As for the dance stage. I know there was a stage and a screen set up. And there was a large group of people dancing in front of it. I personally didn't go over to it during the pre-race activities. Only passing by it once on the way to the corrals. And by that point the spectators that had come to the start area were gathering around it to watch the start from the screen.

This is what I can recall from the past two years. (The DJ booth had moved from where it was in the beginning.)

Great map!

The grassy area looks like the overflow parking for the WDW marathon weekend expo that we parked in last January. :)

I keep forgetting that this starts at WWoS.

Alright, who knows how to crack the code to get the waivers?! They were out around this time last year. :)

:teeth: Patience is not a strong suit of mine.

Same here. I think of that old Mervyn's commercial around holidaytime that has the woman with her face pressed to the glass door, saying "open open open".....

But rundisney hasn't been known to put their info out before they are ready, so I'm not sure I get to have any say in when we get all the info. :)

I noticed that runDisney has posted the Official Event Guide for the Avengers half but not Wine and Dine. I think you are right, bumbershoot, that we'll get all the info after the TOT race this weekend.

Do corral assignments come out at the same time as the waivers? Not that my corral is going to be a surprise since I entered with no time - last corral for me! I did have a 10K time I could have submitted but my DH didn't and we're going to run together. Will I be able to tell what corral I would have been in if I had submitted my 10K time? Do they list the pace per mile for each corral or just a list of runners with the corral letter?

The race is getting closer :cool1:

Well that's just rude of them. :) Eh, Disneyland doesn't have anything going on this weekend, so why not post Avengers, right?

Wow, neat course! It's totally different than the recent Half! I like that they don't do DL and DCA one right after the other! Man, now I'm wishing I could have gotten in on that. Drat.

That said, did we know that the igiftbag is up, and it has some basic info on the New Balance thing? Gives a website for info and a twitter account to follow.

They list the corrals by anticipated finish time based on your submitted POT. A 10k tune is adjusted as it should be different than a half time. If you google McMillan running calculator and input your 10k time, you will get a projected half time. This is where Disney would have put you. Once you know that time and they release the corral info, you'll know where you would have been. Also, you can always move back a corral, just not up. So even if you had submitted a time you could still move back to run with your husband.

Someone almost always finds it before the official link is posted.

Can I get a sense of how the evening goes from those of you who have been there before?

We are supposed to be there by 8 but the run doesn't go till 10. That's a long time to wait. Do we have to wait in our corrals? Can you sit down - I sure don't want to be on my feet that long.

Are there characters to be photo'd with? Other things to do to pass the time?

What about bag check? I'll be listening to my stuff on my phone as I run. If I've been in my phone for 2 hours prior to running the battery will be well used up. I have an external battery pack but don't want to run carrying a battery (of course). How late can I get to baggage check and dump that external battery?

What else should I know about the wait? Oh yes - how long does it take the last corral to get across the start line?

They have you arrive early and you wait in the large grassy area. There is an area with lines of Porto potties. There are lines to drop off your bag to be taken to the finish line ( they provide it when you go to expo). I can't recall when they cut it off, they will make announcements, There is a DJ and entertainment and you can get in line to get pictures with the characters. A lot of people seem to like to dance, etc. while others lay around and sit in the grass. We bring our last pre-run snack with us and water, but they also do have water cups available. Since you are there early, we tend to do bagel / banana about an hour out from the start. Depending on your corral, they will move you in there at least 30 minutes before your start (sorry, can't remember exact time). I found a spot on the side of the road to sit waiting for race start..prefer to not be on my feet too much.

Good luck!

For those of you who have done this before, what would you guess is the longest distance between character stops? Our plan is to run between them, wondering what our longest run will be? When the guide is released will it show where the stops are along the course? How about who is at the stops?

So they move people in their corrals gradually? So if you are in the last corral, you might still be waiting outside once the race starts? This sounds very different from the Disneyland races, so I'm curious!

They 'request' everyone to their corrals at the same time ... But it's a bit like herding cats.

Plus the last corral starts about 40 min or so after the elites start.

Subscribing to live vicariously through everyone and with a request.

I plan on doing Wine & Dine 2015, if someone can post the date when the race instructions come out or when you see it at the expo I'd appreciate it. I'd like to go ahead and start the countdown. :-)

I will have a rental car and am staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort...How is parking if I opt to just drive myself to the start area?

You can't park AT the start. I believe you have to drive to Epcot, park there and get shuttled to the starting line at WWoS.
