Official Wine & Dine 2014

Question.., I ran my first 10k at 1:38 time (so 16min pace), yes I am very slow... Should I still submit my time or not bother because it won't change coral placement?

I second the suggestion to submit your time. It shows that you have done a race before and aren't a total beginner which may give you a bump up one corral.

I don't know if everyone here is aware, but Disney has changed their EMH hours for July-December. Evening MK EMH are now Saturday instead of Sunday, which means anyone participating in the W&D 1/2 or the spectator party in Epcot that night won't be able to enjoy that weekend's evening EMH.

I remember they added/switched MK's EMH last year (and maybe the year before?) to help offset the party at Epcot. I think it helped with folks not associated with the Wine & Dine Half something to do and lessened the crowd at Epcot.

I think it would be grand if they had BOTH Saturday and Sunday at MK.

A couple of questions...
What time do you plan to leave the parks on Saturday before the race? Or what time do buses start going to WWoS for runners?

Would you do a late big breakfast, or late light lunch on Saturday?

I don't know about anyone else, but we arrive Friday and leave Tuesday, so with this change there are no evening MK EMH. I've sent a letter to Disney specifically addressing the W&D 1/2 weekend, and that runDisney participants shouldn't essentially be shut out of MK's evening EMH - hoping that (for runDisney weekends) they will keep MK's evening EMH on Sunday. If anyone else was looking forward to enjoying evening EMH at MK, you may want to e-mail Disney as well. The more who contact them, the better chance (however remote) they may listen.

This is our first adults only trip since DD was born, and evening EMH at MK was always one of our favorite things prior to her birth..we were really looking forward to enjoying that this year :(

I'm in exactly the same boat! :( Sunday was going to be our only MK day. I had the schedules copied to a document on my computer and both Saturday and Sunday had evening EMH. I'm so disappointed and sad. Spending so much money to fly across the country and stay on site having the only day we will be in MK close at 10pm instead of midnight does make a difference. :worried:I wonder why they would do that. Saturday didn't even change one bit. the only thing that changed Sunday was they took away the extra 2 evening hours at MK and they added a 1 hour earlier opening time to Animal Kingdom...:guilty:

Would you mind giving the email to write to? I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to ask since they changed the EMH so easily, it might be as easy to change it back.:confused3

According to this site, the bolded is what Disney did last year...evening EMH on the 9th (race night) and the 10th.

ETA: Looking at Touring Plans' historical info, the parks were apparently open later too. MK was open to the public until 12am both Saturday and Sunday, and evening EMH on both nights went to 2am.

That's something good to know and be able to point out to Disney if they follow up with a phone call.

I went to the runDisney site and filled out the "Contact Us" via their site.

Also a good idea - thanks!

Thanks to everyone that has answered my questions over the past few weeks! This weekend I ran a 10k in 89:30 and was able to submit it as proof of time!!!! It estimated my finish time to be 3:17 so I know that doesn't meet the 3:15 but at least it's something!!!! Now im excited for November!

Good job!!

It will be interesting to see how the corrals are organized this year! I'd bet that several folks won't submit a time and will be placed at the back ... They might have multiple 3:30+ corrals.

I'm doing the Jingle Jungle 5K. I saw the course map for last year's race. Could someone please describe What the terrain was like for the last mile. It's the back stage area... is it road or is it "cross country"? Thanks!

Its on a service road. A seemingly endless out and back if I recall correctly.

Yep - road and out-and-back. Here are the only pictures I have from that mile:

In this one I'm going "out" - you can see the people that are ahead of me coming toward me:

The "back" portion...people ahead of me are across the water.

Thanks so much for the info and the pictures! Such a big help! I had visions of running on dirt road and tripping on loose stones so I'm thrilled that it's a paved road! Thanks again! :dance3:

Nope! No dirt or stones from what I remember. :goodvibes

If you're interested, here's my report from last year's race: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=50481951&postcount=21

It was really fun! I enjoyed it a lot (enough that I'm doing it again this year). :)

So...I was thinking about this half marathon I'm training for in September and how I possibly want to use it as updated proof-of-time for Wine & Dine. I went to runDisney.com, and DUH...proof of time is due by August 1!! That's in just a few weeks!

Also, they have a link up similar to what they used this year for the Disneyland Half...you can update your proof of time here: http://trackshack.com/disneysports/proof/wd/proof.php

I have run a 10-miler and a 10K this year...I put in the 10-miler time and it immediately spat out my updated, unverified anticipated finish time. :) Cool!

Sidenote: I have looked and looked and they seem to not be requiring certified races anymore for proof, at least for Wine & Dine. Am I missing it somewhere? I checked both the Proof of Time and FAQ sections of runDisney.com. :confused3

Just updated my proof of time and I am not sure if I like there new process.

Agreed. I like the ease of it, but I'm not happy that there is no confirmation.

Has anyone used the new system and gotten an email from Track Shack?

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

I'm pretty sure it said on the site that they won't start verifying times until August 1.

I like how you have to put a link in the submission - they are definitely trying to crack down on corral placement a bit more!
