Official Wine and Dine 2017 thread

I just( @6pm) remembered today was early registration and I wasnt even going to look but I thought why not and was completely shocked to see EVERYTHING is still open. I grabbed a 10k slot. I've decided to skip the 5k, there's too many around here that are soooo much cheaper and offer much more. My friend just found one in Tampa that you get a small beer every 3/4 Mile then get a large one at the end, plus a medal and tech shirt and it's only like $35. I get that you are not in WDW but I've run that same 5k course, 4 times now and the novelty has warn off. Plus at $80 it's almost double what I paid the first year. I have a feeling many people feel the same why I do.

My sister has an AP but can't figure out how to register. She said the links she found won't work. Any ideas?

Registered for 5k, 10k, and half. I've never been a runner but did the half last year and I'll apparently do anything for a medal and trip to Disney. Doing Disneyland challenge so I'll be going coast to coast! Working up to maybe attempting Dopey one day.......

I just registered for my first 10k with my mom. :sad2: Why do I do this to myself LOL (because the 5k last week was too much fun thats why)

Again, though... EVERY RACE is still available right now, 3+ hours after early registration opened. I'd bet they added more to early reg, or there's some issue. Regardless of any decreased demand this year. This has never happened for any race weekend we've ever registered for.

Could be wrong...! :)

Reasons why are easy to spot, not a night race any longer and by far the worst course of any Run Disney half. This race went from everything cool, night race with an after party and the best half course to the worst.I have friends who signed up last year who were angry when they saw the course, last year the whole inaugural challenge still made it a draw but I think after seeing the course the demand is just not going to be there. The only time I've run W&D was 2015 the half of a half shortened course,so I really wish one day it will go back to a night race with a better course as I've never gotten the full experience of the race,it was still cool to do the 6.7 miles in 2015 and run through the Osborne lights.I recently moved right by the parks and that would be the only reason I might sign up for 2017.I can't wait for construction to be finished in DHS and we can get one or two night races, switch W&D back to night and bring back a ToT or Halloween themed race, that's a race I did twice and seriously miss.

I ran the half of a half in 2015 and the inaugural last year. I would agree that the half course was disappointing (a bus with a movie poster on the side and music is entertainment?), but I overheard a cast member runner talking about how the course would change as construction was completed so that the course went back through Hollywood Studios. I'm not sure if that will happen or not, but I went ahead and signed up for the challenge again. I plan on doing Dopey 2018, so I was using this as a primer for that event.

That being said, I think that price, along with the bumping up of the registration date and possibly the fact that it's the same weekend as NYC Marathon (again) are players in people. When the price is that high - along with hotel rooms, airfare, park tickets, etc., people need to be more selective on what races they run each year.

Totally forgot about registration today! And now that I'm looking and everything is still available, I'm not even sure if I want to sign up. Although I did go for a run today wearing my W&D 10k shirt, so maybe my brain was trying to remind me?

i think they are on event section of rundisney site. for w+d not all resorts are event resorts.

i think they are on event section of rundisney site. for w+d not all resorts are event resorts.

That changed in 2016. In 2016 all resorts were event resorts. I'm sure the pattern will be the same for 2017 with all the event changes.

The rundisney website still has 2016 dates on the "travel" page for W&D. But it does say " Create your perfect vacation with customizable Magic Your Way Tickets. And when you stay at any Walt Disney World® Resort during the Disney Wine & Dine Marathon Weekend, transportation to all race weekend events is provided."

So I am hoping that it is the same this year. Looks like @Dis_Yoda already posted. Great minds, Thanks!

Signed up for 10K this morning as an AP holder. This will be our first runDisney race. We had signed up for a half a couple years ago, but work got in the way of training so we dropped out.

My husband and I just registered for the Wine and Dine half (our first half!). Is there a common resort that people typically stay at or does that not matter?
