Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Oh that does not sound pleasant. I had a randomly weak and painful knee a few weeks ago when I was on vacation (and NOT running). No idea what I did to it, but it bugged me for a few days and then just got better and hasn't bothered me since. The only thing I did for it was KT tape because I was doing a lot of standing and walking around and wanted to give it some support. Hopefully yours is a similar sort of transient injury.
That makes me feel better to hear thanks for sharing :)

To just show up at EPCOT without anything would be pretty silly as common sense would say you need something to prove you can get in but yeah I can see people doing that.
I could see some people thinking that the MAGIC MagicBand knows all, including that they have a ticket to that event.

Incidentally, I think they SHOULD be able to do this, but clearly we're not there yet.

My knee, like the whole area (back front sides) has been tweeked or something, & it's not from running. It kind of gives out when I standup, kind of makes my leg go numb. Really have no idea what it is, nerve pain?!?! I ran today and it didn't hurt really but felt off so didn't push it, hurts more to walk than run. It's just very very strange so hoping it just disappears asap.
Oh yuck. I've had this sort of thing at times... though my cause is probably different...

My issue is that I am loose jointed, and my calves and quads are extra tight. Leaves the knee feeling "unstable" and loose in between those tight muscles unless I: 1) strengthen glutes and knee, 2) stretch regularly to loosen those muscles. What really helps me is trigger point dry needling to break up knots in those nasty muscles. :)

So for me, it seems to come and go some based on how well I'm keeping up with the things I'm supposed to be doing. But it's never gotten bad enough that it stopped me from running.

*goodvibes* to you on this!!!!

I just got my ticket in the mail. Still waiting on the gc email. I have gotten all the emails so far except for this one.

yeah unstable is a word I would give it, thanks for sharing. Yeah I ran on it, it felt weird like it belonged to the Tinman or something. Thanks for the tips too, maybe some heavy duty massaging is needed.

Do we think magicbands will not work for entry? Or do you just mean people who didn't link theirs thinking the system magically knew they wanted to? Lol. I imagine they use the same entry scanners for cards and bands? I can't remember how we did it at MVMCP last year...

Also I just got mine in the mail and linked it yay! The numbers do look a little different from my cousins. Her's says "T1" at the end on MDE and mine has no designations. Anyone else's tickets have this?

Here's a question for anyone who has done Princess or WDW Half: Epcot is listed at opening at 9am the day of the half, but I can't quite figure out how guests will be getting into the park while the last hour or so of runners are coming in without some kind of crisscross going on. How does that work?

Simple, really. The guests are sent across the path of the runners when it's clear-ish. There's usually a CM and a rope/cone line holding them back.

Ok, so still no emails for me. I've got my fingers crossed that I get the party ticket this weekend.

I called runDisney and the rep said that I should have got the email by 10/25. He asked if I checked SPAM folder and if my Active account was up to date with the correct email and address (check and check!). So his literature says that the eGiftcards can't be resent and if the GiftCard wasn't received to go to the "Run Relations" desk at the expo. The literature says for problems with the party ticket not received to see the "Welcome Center Info Desk".

Sounds slightly different from the event Guide which does put "Gift Card/Post Race Party Ticket Questions" both at the Welcome Center. But gotta hit the expo for the packet anyway and walk past the Welcome Center to get the shirt and swag that goes with it so I'll just keep stopping in buildings until I get everything :)

:offtopic: I was thinking while I was on the phone that my email address is never out of date because I've never changed it; and with that thought I realized my email address turns 20 years old this year :bday:
With another birthday for me around the corner I'm already feeling old enough so I don't want to see any replies with "wow, that's older than me..." :p

Thanks for calling, I was planning to see if I got the gc today and then try contacting them. Now I don't need to since apparently we should have gotten it this time. My email is active since I've gotten other things from them regarding the race, just not the two gc emails.

Don't feel bad about your email address, I changed mine to what it is now when I was in college during an internship, so sometime between 99 and 2000. My amazon log in if I don't use my email address, is still the first part of my 2nd email address and still says welcome tywtbfan! When I do log in :) No idea how to change that part and I log in with my current email. Makes me smile when I see it though. (It stands for Tyler Willis Thunderbirds fan for those trying to figure it out :) It's the junior hockey team here in Seattle and he played for the team when I was in high school. No one could ever figure it out so I changed my email)

Oh, okay... I guess the traffic isn't so bad and there aren't many barreling through by then. Makes sense.

party:
Party Time. Excellent!

Party ticket arrived in the mail today. Half way there, but I suspect I'm stopping at a table somewhere in the expo to get my gift card.

Wife and I are in Canada and have not recived any email/information about our party tickets , anyone else from Canada not getting the party tickets ? we leave on tusday so here is to hopping it arrives on monday .

One week to go, everyone!!! I've enjoyed keeping up on this thread over the past few months - especially around the time that the course map leaked a bit early:rotfl: (seriously, I was as disappointed as everyone else...but, hey...this beats another Sunday long run around our regular routes, right??? And, rumor has it, there's a party later that night :drinking1).

My wife and I are coming down with another couple, and we're all staying at BWV. Our wives were hoping to get up and watch the two of us come in around Crescent Lake. Obviously, if we find ourselves running around Crescent lake now, we've done something horribly wrong :rotfl2:. Given the course changes, what are the thoughts on spectator spots? I assume the Epcot parking lot will be the best option for them. If so, what's the best way to get there - will the race buses still be running at 6am, and if so, do they even transport to the finish line area? They'd probably need to be in their spot by 6:45a at the absolute latest. Will they even be able to get a decent spot, even though they didn't buy the ChEAR Squad seating package?

Thanks everyone, and enjoy the next few days...remember to take it easy! You've all worked hard for this, enjoy it! See you all down there :thumbsup2

Sometimes they have a crossing path with ropes that redirects runners. They corral guests waiting to cross, then when the runner path clears they move the ropes over to redirect runner traffic and let guests go through, doesn't disrupt the runners. I think near Spaceship Earth they do this, EPCOT has such wide paths at least that during marathon weekend as a runner I didn't have problems with guests crossing in front, they have cones and people out directing guests around other ways too.

In a last minute reminder email from RunDisney it said International guests pick up party tickets at the expo.
"*International runners will need to visit the Welcome Center at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to receive their tickets."

They had to do this a ton at the DL Star Wars half -- letting people cross this way around downtown Disney. Worked pretty seamlessly.

LOL! Mine is probably about that old as well! Same feeling as when I hear it's been like 30yrs since GnR released Appetite for Destruction! :scared1:
