Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

This is my first rD event and my mom is going with me. I'm only doing the 10k. Will there be somewhere she can go to watch the race and if so will they have buses for spectators that run a little later than runners. Any suggestions or tips greatly appreciated!

She'll be able to watch you start and then she'll need to go catch the bus to WWoS to see you finish.

I love staying at the MK area resorts (and did for last years Wine & Dine) - but it made me realise how much I have loved being at Epcot resorts for previous W&D weekends (The easy access to the food festival in the evenings was super handy).

Having stayed at both BC and YC before I wanted to try something different - so will be at Boardwalk this time around (bonus being it was cheaper than the other two when I booked as well).

Hello fellow Boardwalk person! We really wanted BC/YC for the pool, since Saturday is going to end up being "eat breakfast after the 10K and lounge around the rest of the day", but I can't afford club-level pricing for 5 nights. Boardwalk seems to be selling out now, too. I was going to do Thurs-Tues, but couldn't get a room for Tues night, so we will be there Weds-Mon instead.

My 7mo window for DVC opened up on Sun and there was almost NOTHING available resort-wide! Unless we were ok staying way out at Saratoga Springs. We decided to spring for the new Poly Bungalow for our 4 nights. Ridiculous amount of DVC points, but we figure it will be a one-time experience. Last year we managed to snag a Boardwalk room and LOVED it there. :)

We've got Bay Lake for 6 nights. Excited to be so close to MK and on the monorail. Unfortunately, we're still 2 nights short. I'm good with Saratoga, but I'm hoping to get Boardwalk or Poly. What's making it difficult is the Friday after the races is Veteran's Day and the options are extremely limited.

We're owners at BLT and LOVE it!!!!! Staying there in Aug for our longer trip. ENJOY IT!!!!! :)

BTW: We walk to MK every day. Especially lovely to be able to WALK BACK when there's the mad dash for buses/monorail at the end of the day. :thumbsup2

We are owners now, too! This will be our first stay.

Best part about the race weekend expansion is that now all resorts are host resorts! Glad BLT will get buses to the EXPO and Race Start.

Obviously, we would like to stay the whole week in Bay Lake, but it's not looking too good. Split stay it is! We've got wait lists, but aren't hopeful. Boardwalk would be perfect to finish up so close to EPCOT.

Hey everyone! I have a question about how they determine what corral you will be in. I am running the 10K, but it will be my first 10K.
the active registration asked what speed I plan to run per mile..
is that what they use to determine corral? or because it is my first 10K do they automatically put me in the last corral?
If they do, I am wondering if I can run a local 10Kbefore November and add it to my active registration. does anyone know the cut off on when I can add my time?
thanks!!

The website says proof of time is required only for the half, but not the 10K. So, presumably, they just want an estimate of your pace. It's unclear whether they are doing corrals for the 10K, or only for the half.

There will be corrals for all three races. Corals for the 5K and 10K, if not doing the challenge will be based off of the mpm time or finish you put in at registration.

BWI again this year for us, also. We booked about a month prior to the original registration opening date. It was so nice to walk back after the race and party, though I suspect we won't be walking back this year, with the changes.

DW is looking at buying this shirt:

Doesn't look like it is Champion (where we know her size). Anybody have experience with this product/brand (just seems to be Disney Parks) and sizing?

Yes. I personally still went up a size. (I tried on the Run Princess Run tee at the Half). The performance material gear in my normal size (medium) is just too tight for me around the chest/shoulder area. Maybe TMI, but I am a 34D and it's just too uncomfortable in a medium.

I'm usually a size medium in most all other Disney Parks women's apparel.

I really think it just depends on how you are built and how you like the gear to fit you.

I bought this shirt at the Princess marathon and it runs large. I wore it one day at the park for a few hours with my medal. When I got back it was already getting pills on it. I wore a shirt I had custom made and the race shirt with my medal with no problems.

Pills already? Ahhhh that's my biggest pet peeve with material! I'm glad I didn't buy the Run Princess Run t shirt after all. I remember seeing all the Disney Parks running gear at the Princess half expo and I did not think the quality was nearly as good as Champion (especially for the similar pricing!). Which was the one major reason I decided to pass on it all. Did you end up returning it? Or if you kept it how has it fared now as far as quality?

We booked BC last year in February. This year, I didn't even expect to be running this race, but BIL expressed an interest in doing it and hubby finally gave me the go-ahead about a week before registration opened. I do expect we will have to deal with buses after the races, but at least we'll be able to walk back to BWI after the party Sunday night.

Yes, after a half of a day in the parks with my medal on. When you pay almost $40 for a t-shirt you expect it to last longer than that. I called Disney to return it when I got home and they were going to mail me a return label which never came so I emailed them last week. I agree the Champion shirts are a bit tight but this Disney Parks one was very large for a medium.

I find any of the all stars are pretty good for solo runners , My wife and I have stayed there for two other run weekends and find it no problem with the room size and the transportation. the rooms are big enough and the second bed makes it easy to lay down all your running things for the next day , also the price is the cheapest so you save some money as well. All star sports is our favorite after staying in all of them
Thanks!
