Why is that weird?
I didn't say it was "weird".

I totally misread and read Dec dates as Nov :headache:. Thought parties were the night before 10K and night of the half. That would not have given decent options to runners. Staying an extra day for it is an option, now that I know this far ahead.

I was hoping we'd have more options than just the night before the 10K, and the night of the half party. I could swing the night before the half, but wouldn't be able to stay so late before the 10K and half when I'm running both.

Good thing the first night is actuallly after the half so you won't have any scheduling conflicts!

Duh!!!! I was looking at the Dec dates, and Dec 6 is one of them!! You can see my brain is fried post- W&D pre-registration and DURING SW Half training!!!

Thank you!!! :worship: :thanks:

No problem! I checked those dates a million times so I was like they must have missed something! ;) Because I know how it is. I did W&D last year and went the day after the race so I totally understand! I just want everyone to know you CAN go the day after the race/after party should you choose to! :drinking1:dancer:

I was updating my calendar and adding the race to it, I noticed that the race weekend is the same as when we "Fall Back" a hour. :scared1: Wonder what headaches this is now going to cause?

Quick question for out-of-state runners: Have any of you ever gone to a Run Disney or other event before and had to fly out in the afternoon/evening of the same day as the half marathon? Specific details aside, this is most likely going to be my situation this year. I just want reassurance that although it's not ideal, it's not completely crazy and that people do it.

Hmmm...I'm not even sure how this is possible since they will all be morning races this year? You'd have to get in at like midnight to make that happen?

Haha, no, I meant for leaving after the race! I will most likely have to be back at work Monday which would mean missing the post-race party.

Ha ha ha...I got ya now! (even if I didn't before!) I would still try for a evening flight to give yourself time to relax, shower and be at the airport.

That's definitely what I'm hoping for. Southwest's schedule only goes up to November 4th right now, but when they open up more dates, I'd be looking for something around 6-7 pm. Which is what they have for the week before on Sunday, so I'm hoping it's similar for November 6th.

We've done it several times. We shoot for a 5pm+ flight ... It's not the bad.

We always see many medals in the airport.

Extra hour to sleep before the half sounds good to me since I usually can't sleep before :)

I already have my half outfit ready, it's what I wore for my ill-fated marathon this year, now the question is will that jinx this race....it needs redemption to be worn in it's fullest as I didn't get all the parts on for the marathon.
All we need is our return flight, waiting on southwest to open. We'll be at All-Star Sports again, I actually really liked it in Jan.

My sister in law needs to get 4 people in for the 5k (2 adults, 2 kids), I've offered to help her, but she thinks she'll be fine. Anyone think the 5k on Tuesday will be ON HOLD in minutes or will she be fine on her own?

I've done it a few times. I usually pack everything up the night before the race and leave out just what I'm changing into after the shower. I've always been back to the room to get my stuff before checkout time.

I think she'll be fine, BUT I'd never turn down the help offer either.

I have never done it from a race in WDW, but I have from DLR. I took the latest flight I could grab on SouthWest out of John Wayne/Orange County (SNA), which was 2:45 or so. I had enough time to finish the race, gather my bling, continue at a fast pace back to the hotel, shower change clothes and jump into a taxi to the airport. Flying back to the eastern time zone wasn't the most fun thing I've done, but it is possible.

MCO will most likely have a better flight schedule, which would allow you time to breathe and even grab a bite to eat before the mad dash to the airport.

The 5K doesn't have any of its spots taken by challenge runners, so I think that and the fact that she should be able to register the kiddos under her account will help her. If it were me though, knowing that you know how registrations work, I'd take the help just to be safe. :)
