Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

They've changed how they are doing registration for the last few races...I think it was at some point after registration for the 2015 Disneyland Half races.

They're still going to post the links like they usually do, or you can search for them. Each adult needs their own account/log-in (if you're registering a minor, you should be able to do that from an adult account).
Hello! I am registering myself and DS for the 10k. He is a minor at registration but will be 18 at race time. Does he need a separate Active account or can I register him on mine? Thanks!

Nope, there's an option to register yourself or someone under 18. You should be good doing it on your account! :)

Quick question for out-of-state runners: Have any of you ever gone to a Run Disney or other event before and had to fly out in the afternoon/evening of the same day as the half marathon? Specific details aside, this is most likely going to be my situation this year. I just want reassurance that although it's not ideal, it's not completely crazy and that people do it.

But then you miss the party at Epcot that night... :(

I'm working on catching up on all the posts here! So DH "accidentally" booked the non-refundable rate at the Swan for the W&D weekend (lol, works for me!) so looks like we are doing it! I'm nervous about getting in, but hoping that since we will do the challenge we will get a spot. I'm doing the Pixie Dust in a month so I really want that C2C! That's what, 7 medals? I want all the bling!

So we booked the Swan since we can get it with rewards and it is just us, no kids this trip. I know all resorts are "host" resorts but does that include Swan and Dolphin? I know they are on property resorts for some things and not for others, just not sure how it goes for this. If NOT, do they have their own shuttle for the race? Should we get a cab? rental car? uber?

TIA for all the advice - this is always a wealth of info. :)

That's definitely what I'm hoping for. Southwest's schedule only goes up to November 4th right now, but when they open up more dates, I'd be looking for something around 6-7 pm. Which is what they have for the week before on Sunday, so I'm hoping it's similar for November 6th.

Extra hour to sleep before the half sounds good to me since I usually can't sleep before :)

I already have my half outfit ready, it's what I wore for my ill-fated marathon this year, now the question is will that jinx this race....it needs redemption to be worn in it's fullest as I didn't get all the parts on for the marathon.
All we need is our return flight, waiting on southwest to open. We'll be at All-Star Sports again, I actually really liked it in Jan.

My sister in law needs to get 4 people in for the 5k (2 adults, 2 kids), I've offered to help her, but she thinks she'll be fine. Anyone think the 5k on Tuesday will be ON HOLD in minutes or will she be fine on her own?

FYI, I researched and found that southwest will have those dates on June 2nd. as per their website. This saves me checking daily so I wanted to share :)

ok, question for the veterans. This is my first rD and only my 2nd trip to DW. I am going solo. How early do I NEED to get there. I'm trying to book flights and I know I won't enjoy myself until after the race ;) (it will be my first 1/2 too) so I want my stay to go a few days after. I'm concerned about the expo and getting materials. Do you think it's best to get there Friday or would Saturday be doable with an early bedtime? Also, will there be any merchandise left? thanks so much! oh, also do you know what time the expo closes at night, if I did fly in Friday night? the website only has the days listed and no times. Thanks again

Last year was a different schedule, but we didn't arrive until Friday afternoon. (Race was Sat night.) We drove and went straight to the expo. Nothing was left. We bought one hat and one car magnet. But other than that it was nice because we stayed till Tuesday so we were able to maximize our time and enjoy a few days of the parks, Food & Wine and the Christmas party. We chose to do things that way because originally we were pulling our kids out of school to come with us and watned to enjoy the parks with them. Then my dad flew out to watch the kids so we had to do a quick trip. This year we (my BRF vs. my husband and I) are arriving on the 2nd and staying till the 8th. Running the challenge, no 5K. We might switch and do the 3rd-8th, but we like having the extra days to take things easy and see the parks.

Swan is not a far walk from Boardwalk/Yacht/Beach Club.

I know for WDW & Princess - Swan/Dolphin were included in the on property hotels as this is the first year for the Wine & Dine to have all hotels - its going to be unknown.

My husband & I are also staying at the Swan (since it was $2k cheaper for the 6 nights than staying at Boardwalk/Beach Club) and worst case - we're fine with walking to Boardwalk or Yacht Club to get a bus to the start lines!

So, I have the accommodation booked, and the flights on hold. All that is left to do is get up at 2am on the 30th (my time) to register. Not only do I have to contend with the throngs of others also wanting to register, I also have to try not to sleep through the alarm, and as an added bonus - I am currently doing some work in a place where the phone and internet lines have been vandalized recently and the internet keeps going down completely as it is still not fixed :scared:
Hopefully everyone gets all the pixie dust they need to get through registration this week! pixiedust:

Hi, I just have a few technical questions as I get prepared for registration tomorrow (first time registering for a rundisney race!)
-can I be logged in my account on 2 separate devices? meaning can I use my computer to log in as myself and register for the 10K, while my husband on the ipad logs in for me also and registers me for the 5K? or will active not work if I am logged into two devices- like will they sync?
-Also, if I do not log in to two separate devices, am I registering for each race separate? meaning do I register for the 10K, checkout, then have to register for the 5K.. or can I add both races to my "cart" and check out together (hope that makes sense)

Travel days can be stressful. For that reason, I always try to arrive a couple days ahead of time. That way I have a do to relax, or run out and get the things I forgot, before the race.

We're on our first Disney cruise right now, which is great! But... I still need to register for one 10K and one 5K tomorrow... from Tortola!! :scared:

I've paid for an extra data/text/phone package to cover the island as well as possible, and have a tip from a fellow DISer about a nearby restaurant with WiFi. Still...I don't like my chances and it stresses me out! Being DVC/AP, TAs are a ridiculously expensive option if I can't manage to register these two tomorrow. :(

Wish me luck?!

I have no idea about your first question. for the second question, it's two separate entries: 10K first, checkout, then 5K.

Good luck and have a fabulous cruise!!

I can't find the race on active.com. Will it just magically show up tomorrow when we can register? or am I not searching correctly?

Kids Race packet pickup question:

I'm taking my cousin's son with us. He's doing one of the dashes. Who picks up his packet? Can I? Does a parent HAVE to be there? If so, he won't be able to run I suppose. Anyone have any experience with this?

I THINK this is the link. Don't freak out when you go to it and the races aren't listed there - they won't be there until tomorrow at noon. :)

Awesome! Of course I had to click to see what happens and it took me to the sold out kids races. I'm already nervous about tomorrow. The half will hey friends and my first and the reason we decided over a year ago to go back to wdw. Well go anyway but I've got my fingers crossed we'll get in since it's just for the half.
