Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Welcome to the DIS!

You want to make sure that your mother has a separate Active.com account as well. If you're registering both of you, you'll need to do it separately in each account.

Personally, I think that the 10K will sell out before the 5K - it's an inaugural race, and a good chunk of the spots will be taken up by challenge runners, so I'd get yourself registered for that one first. Then you for the 5K, then your mother's 5K registration...UNLESS the 10K is at the absolute bottom of your priority list. And if possible, have 2 separate browsers, or even 2 separate machines, with both of your accounts open at the same time.

runDisney will post the links on their website on March 29, so you can grab them there. Lately they have been up a bit before noon, so just grab them and start refreshing!

Thanks Ariel! I appreciate your help :)
so just to confirm, on March 29th at noon (or a few mins before) I go to Rundisney.com and click on the "wine and dine" tab under events- then find a link that takes me to active.com?

Just want to make sure I got this ;)

I agree with so much here!!! For me, so much of it is bundled together--the race justifies the trip, it makes me feel like the trip was valuable and useful (keeping a fitness goal) and to be honest, I am not super motivated to work out with out an external goal. The trip means the race is not optional (registration is the least of the related expenses! hotel, meals, tickets, flights...) so I know there is basically no justifiable reason to back out except illness/injury/tragedy. So I train. And if it was just a local race I would simply not be so excited, so invested. Costume design, etc... it kees me, a natural bookworm, hitting the pavement at least every other day. Even in Ohio where the weather may suck and I may still be hurting. Which is more than I can say for any other weight loss/fitness goals I have had. Proof is in the times & weight--I have lost a decent chunk of weight and I did my practice 6.2 miler Sat 30 min faster than I ran the Marathon Weekend 10k. I may have time to get a photo with Darth Maul/Boba Fett after all!!!

This is me to a T!!!! I am using this as my very first 1/2 simply because of all you stated. I know I wouldn't train if it was a local one and not much involved :) the race is my only reason for going, not a vacation. It's a fitness goal of mine and I know that by making it magical I'll do it (along with the flights, hotel, and registration expense). Hope to see you down there!!!

This is so frustrating - I still don't know how one is supposed to register early as an Annual Passholder. I can access the site and get to the runDisney early registration page without logging in, but can't when I am logged in. Has anybody else who has an AP been able to get it to work?

I activated my AP last month, I've been getting a blank page. :badpc: Then I tried Incognito window in Chrome, and Private window in Safari and those both worked for me. Hoping it still works for me on Tuesday. I only have Chrome on my work computer. Good Luck.

My son and I ran our very 1st race at Disney and loved it! We signed up for the Princess 10K and finished in just over an hour. Now we want to sign up for the challenge. Not to mention my 13 year old wants to do the 5K (which I will run with him) and my husband wants to do the half. We are both DVC and AP holders. What is the best way to sign up? I plan to run the 5K & the challenge. My 17 year old son will do the challenge and my husband wants to run just the half. Plus my 13 year old wants to run the 5K. Can I sign up myself for the Challenge and the 5K at the same time? I assume the challenge will run out quick. Is it safe to say I have about 30 minutes once it opens? Also is it easier logging in to DVC or AP account? TIA

You got it! A few minutes before noon the links should be there, then you just wanna refresh until they're live.

It seems like some days it works, some days it doesn't. Ill eat trying multiple browsers!

I'd do it in this order...
Your challenge entry first
Your 17-year-old's challenge entry (can be done from your account since he's a minor)
Your 5K entry
Your son's 5K entry (again, can be done from your account since he's a minor)
Log out of your account and into your husband's, register him for the half

Challenge and 5K are separate registrations so they can't be done at the same time. I guess I'd log into both your DVC and AP account and go with whichever one has the links up first. :confused3

I too always seem to have to use private browsing to get the AP site to load.

Thanks, that seemed to work. The formatting was a bit off, but at least the page wasn't a blank screen. :) The weird thing is though that the page isn't any different when I'm logged in versus when I'm not (there's a link on the page to go to a runDisney passholder page no matter whether I'm logged in or not). That link goes to a page where there are Active links (currently for Disneyland Half weekend). So unless I'm missing something, it doesn't seem like a good system, since people could easily get to that page without actually having an annual pass.

After-party ticket is included with your half marathon registration. If you are not running the half, you'll need to purchase the separate ticket. In past year's we've gotten wristbands to wear to get into the after party so I'm guessing it'll be something similar. :)

Thanks for this info I hadn't noticed that party entry was included with the half fee & was gonna give it a miss!!!

I'm in the UK & have to say I'm thrilled with the changes :D I'm a morning runner & with the time difference I'll likely be up anyway plus the date change puts race weekend at the end of our schools autumn break - so the kids can skip a few days & I get to run an event I hadn't even considered entering!

We managed to book flights last weekend for a decent price & will be spending most of our time at Universal with a trip to Bush Gardens too :)

I'm hoping to do the challenge but if I can't get a spot I really need to at least get half entry as I'm already doing the DLP half & I now NEED the castle to chateau medal lol

I am hesitant to book anything until I know if we are in. Both DVC and AP, so I'll use one for me and one for my husband and hope that I can get us both in! I'm very excited to train for this. We were at Disney over Marathon weekend in January and so enjoyed the atmosphere of the runners. Although I'm not a runner, reading the Galloway training method made me realize that I can already make the time, so I'm ready to take on the challenge! Training for these races will be an incredible motivator for me. Super excited to be a part of this!

Anyone know why the DVC members page is still not updated to show wine and dine? Do they usually do it so last minute? Starting to get nervous - Tuesday will be here before we know it and still trying to decide what to do!?!

This would be my first 1/2 and I love the idea of it being at WDW, but I'm intimidated. I know I would never buckle down and do the training if it weren't at WDW and it wasn't costing me the $$$ (we are traveling there anyway this weekend, so that is locked down).

I'm only running about 3-4 miles at a time now. I'm scared but excited and inspired at the same time. Do I chicken out or go for it? Then, getting registered!

Realized today tues at noon is going to be nuts cause not only do i need a challenge reg and a 10k registration its also best damn race orlandos blitz (where there is a chance to get a $1-20 registration) ugh going to have to have all devices refreshing at once! When did registration get so stressful !?!

I had heard rumors that AP holders were going to be receiving an email with a link versus following the link on the AP holder site. Has anyone heard anything more on this? Haven't seen any emails come through and don't want to miss out come Tuesday.

I HIGHLY doubt they are going to do this...seems like a lot more work on their part that I'm not sure they care to do. :confused3 (And no, haven't seen one from them. :))

A thought on everyone arriving at once for the party... I wouldn't be surprised if they begin allowing folks in earlier than 8, much like the hard-ticket parties at MK. If so, it would be unofficial, but they do not want thousands of people blocking up the entrance and creating a safety hazard. If it starts looking ugly, they could just start letting people in. Also, a fair number of us are AP holders who will likely enter before 8pm, which will cut down on the numbers entering at 8. I plan to get there by 6 to have dinner, personally.

What I'm wondering is if they'll let people in earlier than 8 without a normal park ticket.

I agree that I highly doubt they will do this, but I actually think it could be kind of nice if they did. It could potentially cut down on the chances of people registering early who don't have APs (if they could somehow make it so that the email with the link couldn't be forwarded or the email could contain a unique code like for deferral registrations or whatever). But that seems impractical and unlikely, especially since there are chances things could go wrong and the emails might not make it to everyone correctly (I for one don't know if I have an email associated with my AP - unless it's just the MDE email).
