Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

You won't be able to register without an account (this is something runDisney has started doing over the last year or so). You can either make it ahead of time or do it right as registration is happening. It's your name, address, date of birth...I think that's it. Then after registration you can log in and update your proof of time.
So if you don't yet have a time to submit can you skip that part completely during registration, or do you still put in an estimate? Thanks.

Pretty sure you need to put in an estimated finish time. You can then come back later to submit proof of time if you have it.

I hate to break it to you, but I highly doubt the registration for the W&D Challenge will last longer than an hour or two, if even that long, much less multiple days.

I guess I better be ready on March 29th then. :-) Those shinnys will be mine. THREE shinnys from one weekend? Count me in. I'm already thinking about how I could turn this into a Coast to Coast this year.

Also, unless you are buying from some other place with discounts, they may not offer discounted park tickets anymore for this race.

RunDisney continues to boast their 3 day discounted tickets for the W&D on the travel page... but even if it gets changed, I can't say that will deter me. Heck, I'm already considering staying club at Polynesian over whatever the RunDisney priced standard rooms are because... well... I want to. It's a vacation after all, and I've been known to splurge.

Is anyone getting reliable info from sources other than DIS or RunDisney? I feel sort of out of touch with info on this particular race...

Don't waste your time with proof of time during the registration process. Put down a guess and move forward. You can go back and modify that section. Keep in mind that you aren't registered until you FINISH the registration process.

If you're registering multiple people, log into different computers (or phones) and log into THEIR active accounts in another window. This will also expedite the process.

If last year was any indication, the early registration period will go fast ... you'll have more time for the regular period .... but still less than an hour if you're trying to get into the challenge.

I am looking to do the Lumiere Challenge in November, but does anyone know how quickly registration actually fills up for runDisney events? I've never done one and just trying to get an idea at how aggressive I need to be about booking.
It'll be super quickly for this one: only fall race weekend at WDW, inaugural events (challenge + 10K)...I'd be ready to go right at noon when registration opens.

You can update your info later by logging into your Active.com account.

Their travel page still has info from 2015 for Wine & Dine, so I definitely wouldn't count on discounted tickets for this year.

What info are you looking for? They haven't put out much yet.

Also...just over a week to go, early people! Hopefully those that deferred from 2015 will be getting their links to register soon.

I would be pretty surprised if the challenge sells out quickly. Lots and lots of negative feedback about this weekend now, and it's the same weekend as NYC.

Hope you're right -- improve my odds of grabbing two! :)

I'd actually be surprised if it still didn't sell out relatively quickly. I say this all the time -- it's just a fact -- people unhappy with something are FAR MORE vocal than those happy about it. That's what dominates so much of social media and customer service feedback.

I also think that while there's overlap with NYC, I suspect they're largely different audiences.

Guess we'll see soon enough!

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if you can please help. This will be my first RunDisney event and I just want to make sure I understand what to do once registration day is here.
I have been watching this board for a while, and really appreciate everyone's updates regarding the changes for this weekend! You all are the BEST

I am registering for the 5K with my mother, and then once I know we are both in for that race, I will try to get the 10K for myself as well.
I created an active.com account, but I am not too sure where to go, or what to do on March 29th.
thanks!!

Welcome to the DIS!

You want to make sure that your mother has a separate Active.com account as well. If you're registering both of you, you'll need to do it separately in each account.

Personally, I think that the 10K will sell out before the 5K - it's an inaugural race, and a good chunk of the spots will be taken up by challenge runners, so I'd get yourself registered for that one first. Then you for the 5K, then your mother's 5K registration...UNLESS the 10K is at the absolute bottom of your priority list. And if possible, have 2 separate browsers, or even 2 separate machines, with both of your accounts open at the same time.

runDisney will post the links on their website on March 29, so you can grab them there. Lately they have been up a bit before noon, so just grab them and start refreshing!

I don't recall being able to see 2015 W&D in our Active accounts last year, even after we signed up. Not sure why?

So I should log into Active for each of us, as we head to noon 3/29. Then search for the race there?

We should have all been celebrating our successful registrations by this time today...

Looks like I injured my left psoas muscle last October. After many starts and setbacks, I finally asked for a referral to PT in February. Met with the same therapist who helped my calf injury in 2015; she said I was about 80% better, and needed to remodel and strengthen. I must say: the 6 exercises she told me to do have happily produced almost immediate positive results. 10k this am on the treadmill, with no discomfort after (which is when it used to set in). She feels after 1 week (Thursday), I can really start to ramp up the miles. I was even given the green light for a 1/2 on 4/10, but I think I'll find something shorter, so I don't build too quickly. Though it is a flat race on our local rail trail, that DW and I use for our local long runs.

I'll be honest: DW and I were really not happy with the W&D 2016 race changes. To the point I have already priced out cruises, and other race vacations for this fall.
After 2015, we wanted another shot, even though we knew the course would have to change. We're early to bed; early to rise (but not THAT early) people, but every other race we've ever done has been in the morning. We liked the evening variety W&D provided us. Tentative plans were 2016 W&D, then 2017 Dark Side challenge, as my work schedule will mean no fall vacation in 2017. But we have now noticed that the posted 2017 Dark Side weekend is at the end of Easter week, which we suspect will mean $$$ costs (especially the way Disney seems to be increasing prices these days). Credit to DW, who asked: "what would we think of the 2016 race, if we had never done W&D at night?". So now our goal is: we both register for the Two Course Challenge. Run both not for PR's, but rather to say "we did it".

They've changed how they are doing registration for the last few races...I think it was at some point after registration for the 2015 Disneyland Half races.

They're still going to post the links like they usually do, or you can search for them. Each adult needs their own account/log-in (if you're registering a minor, you should be able to do that from an adult account).

Ok, weird question--but I heard this and want to confirm: do people wear 'throwaway' shirts that they toss off to the side after heating up in the race? I think I might need to do that for the half--I'd rather wear a cheapo shirt and discard it than have to deal with tying one around my waist, but if it's not actually a 'thing' I sure don't want to be littering my dirty laundry :)

A lot of people do it at the disney races.

Absolutely - lots and lots of "throwaway" clothes get left at races! Disney collects them and donates to local shelters. However, you may not need anything for W&D; it's not typically cold in early Nov., and may well be very warm.

You're totally right! I didn't even realize that the travel page listed 2015 for Wine & Dine. Ooops. Oh well, it makes no never mind. I am getting multi-day PH tickets and this way I can add the "water park + more" option via Disney proper.

Does anyone have any ideas as to which resorts might host, since the info I thought was current is for last year?

Two weeks to go for registration!

No but my guess is it'll be all resorts, since that is what happened for Dark Side.

I think they all will be host resorts like the other race weekends (marathon, princess, dark side) are. I'm just guessing though since this seems like it will be a bigger race weekend than in the past.
