Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Is the 1/2 still starting at WWOS and ending at Epcot? I couldn't find that info. And has a start/finish been announced for the 10K?

The RunDisney website still says the half starts at WWOS and ends at Epcot. The 10K just gives the location as "Epcot", so I'm expecting something similar, if not the same course, as the Princess 10K, which starts and ends in the Epcot parking lot.

I'm guessing we won't see course maps until the Event Guide is released (so at most 1 month before race weekend).

I'm really hoping the 10K course does end up the same as the Marathon Weekend/Princess one. I always get so jealous of that course map because Epcot/the Boardwalk area are top on my list of favorite places in Disney World.

I'm betting not either, since that's how it's been lately with this year's Marathon course and the Star Wars courses. Personally I'm hoping for a change in description for the half and that they decide to include the small section of Hollywood Studios like they are using for Star Wars. It would just be such a bummer to cut Wine and Dine down from a 3 park race to 2. And the course will have to go close by the Studios anyway, so why not just include a quick out and back. It's probably not likely, but I can dream. :)

DW and I signed up for our first 5k ever and are really excited. We should have three under our belts locally before this event happens. I weighed #265 on 1-26-16 and am now down to #220 and am hoping to be sub #200 by event weekend. Goal time of under 40 min.

@lovingeire what are "runner breakfast packages"?
for marathon weakened , it was a small box with some snacks , it was ok but a bit pver price for what it was , at least my opinion , we bought our own breakfast food and just used the toasters and the hot water for oatmeal.

I agree it was a little overpriced, but the convenience of it got me. I'm not very good at packing food when I fly.

Just an FYI - You can't pack peanut butter in your carry-on. Evidently it is liquid. :) I got mine taken away when I flew down in June.

Strange, I had some in carry on and it didn't get taken out, Flew through Omaha, St. Louis, Orlando & Chicago.

If you ever pack a jar of peanut butter your checked luggage you will always be inspected by TSA. I guess it shows up as a black mass on their x-ray machines. We always have a nice little note or sticker saying that your bag was inspected by TSA.

I have been able to carry on those small packages of squeeze-able peanut butter tubes (like Jason's) without a problem. Just put them in my baggie with the few 3 oz liquids that I do carry on.

Yeah my peanut butter were those little Jif tubs, like single serving little ones.

Yes. I personally still went up a size. (I tried on the Run Princess Run tee at the Half). The performance material gear in my normal size (medium) is just too tight for me around the chest/shoulder area. Maybe TMI, but I am a 34D and it's just too uncomfortable in a medium.

I'm usually a size medium in most all other Disney Parks women's apparel.

I really think it just depends on how you are built and how you like the gear to fit you.

I bought this shirt at the Princess marathon and it runs large. I wore it one day at the park for a few hours with my medal. When I got back it was already getting pills on it. I wore a shirt I had custom made and the race shirt with my medal with no problems.

Thank you both for this. I told DW, and it looks like she's decided to pass on the shirt at this time.

I know the feeling , if it was not for the wife we would not had done as well. she is a great planner and packer. we really had to plan what we packed since we were coming From Canada

I think its all about finding what works for you.

For us, that means dinner around 5/5:30 - bed by 8PM

I did breakfast before Princess but not Star Wars - Light Side - I think breakfast is more important for me for Princess as I'm waking up about an hour or hour & a half earlier than I do at Disneyland. Breakfast was just two pieces of toast with butter & jelly though.

what we did for marathon weekend was having a "lunch" around 12-1 pm and "dinner" around 5-6 and that was either cheese pizza and pasta with some garlic bread from the hotel cafeteria (all star sports) and the laying down in bed by 7, and lights out by 8.that seemed to work pretty good for the 4 race days and will be doing something similar for this race weekend

anyone have speculations on what kind of course they are preparing ? I can't imagine them changing the 5k too much from previous wine and dine but since they changed the half date and the 10k is new. just seeing what people think.

Since I have never done the 5K before it will all be new to me but yes, I am eager to see what the course layout will be as well.

12k tomorrow morning! Hoping to finish under 1:30. It will be between this and my 10k from December (1:14:10) for my proof for the half. Tomorrow will be warmer and no rain, it rained for 1/3 of the 10k and it's flat. The 10k had some bridges :)

I'm just ready to be done running 3 days a week while trying to cross train 2 other days. I plan on running 4-6 miles each saturday and strength/cross train 2-3 other days. I get too burnt out and give up on the cross training but need to get back to it, especially the weights and that type of stuff because of my back and hips. Plus I figure if I can keep up 4-6 miles a week I don't need to start increasing mileage for the half until sometime in August.
